Fortescue Bay Camping Ground, Tasman National Park. reviews
51Wonderful campsite that makes a perfect base for hiking the capes. Book ahead of time during the high season. Well maintained separate campsites and warm showers available. Don’t feed the animals or they will raid your tent for food later on!
The road up to the campground is tough on 2WD and can take time but other than that it's a beautiful campground. Average facilities and nice surroundings.
Overrated and a rort. Sometimes I wonder why it is we pay for a parks pass and still get taxed again on top. Arrived at the camp site at 6pm after an hour trek on a treacherous entry track (why is this track not properly maintained in the taxes and fees we pay?). Facilities such as showers and firewood are not accessible unless you are there within office hours of 9am to 4pm, what a joke, most people arrive at a camp site to sleep and are travelling and viewing attractions during the day. Have covered enough of tasmania and it's camp sites to know there is alot better than is on offer here. I still can not work out what I paid 23 dollars a night on top of my park pass for
One thing I have the utmost respect for is how well maintained park pass camp sites are and the work park rangers do. But on this occasion I did not see the logic of being stung on top of my park pass, especially for a campsite offering nothing out of the ordinary.
Truly disappointed and will not recommend this place to anyone.
Would highly recommend this camp, quite level sites not to close together excellent toilets and token operated hot showers. All the Ammenities cleaned each morning and park staff very helpfull. The road in from the highway is dirt and approx 12km to camp ground but has just been graded and filled so very good access for all vehicles. There is quite a large boat ramp next to the camp ground which you can also fish from. Just a great spot overall
We only went here for the Cape Hauy trail walk but when we saw the Fortescue camping grounds, we told ourselves to come back and do camping here in the future!
Beautiful area to camp. The unsealed road leaving to get back on the highway needs more signage saying "this way to highway" easy to keep going past the turnoff
The camp ground is very nice and the beach is lovely. You need a token for the shower which has to be purchased during office hours. The gravel road is 12kms and a little rough but its nice once you arrive
Massive improvements at fortescue bay with the new toilet and shower facilities the day walk area hut new boat ramp and jetty as well as the upgrade on the sites.
In the last 4-5 years since Matt and Kristy have been the Rangers the amazing improvements it is a credit to these guys just to even have a faicility of a shop for a few basic essentials like SHAMPOO coffee and ice the fantastic staff can not do enough to make your stay more pleasant. Keep up the good work thanks Matt and Kristy
Great spot with excellent facilities. Showers and toilets, an office with basic supplies like ice and wood. They also have a coffee machine, ice creams and drinks and eftpos.
Lovely spot, had a lot of possums and birds trying to steal our food all night though, please don’t feed the wildlife people!
A good place for camping, bush walking and water activities (fishing, kayaking and fishing). A place to visit for those who like outdoor activities. Book in advance especially during summer and school holiday time. You may need to drive small or big SUV or sedan with high ground clearance to get there.absolutely don't drive with a beetle (city car).
