Discovery Parks - Devonport

This holiday park is literally 6mins from the Spirit of Tasmania Port. 3 streets away. We got in after 9.30pm and our information package was waiting for us in a locked box. We had a drive through site which was very level and situated parallel to the ensuite.
The ensuite was clean and of a good size with excellent water pressure in the shower.
We are staying there on our return trip and am looking forward to it.

Caravan power and water, quite expensive but I must say the amenities are spotless and handy for the Spirit of Tasmania.

Only stayed 1 night in a pet friendly cabin was well appointed enjoyed the stay will be back for sure

It's a great park with large spaces and several en suite sites. Nice walk to Pardo Beach. It's quite and a nice place to relax and or pack before our Spirit of Tasmania sailing either coming or going.

A cozy place with a beautiful view, very suitable for children to play. The design of the cabins was very good and clean. Everything was more than perfect.

We stayed in caravan next to Ensuite. So nice & new it looks. New playground right next to us & beach on other side of that. We could hear waves. Walked to dining room which had so many electrical items for cooking. We watched The Voice on TV.
Just booked 4 nights again before we go on barge.

This park would have to be the cleanest I have ever stayed in. Cabin was so clean. Grounds where well maintained. 10 out of 10 to all the staff involved

Excellent room. Kids loved the jumping pillow. Just no wifi inside the rooms. They were short staffed to attend individual rooms.

We were supposed to stay for 2 days but ended up staying for 6 nights. Fantastic view of the water and the boats coming in. Very clean well cared for cabin. Great staff, very friendly and helpful. We will stay again when we go back to Tassie.

Going to preface this with saying the context:
I booked the date one month too early by accident, and the spirit of Tasmania docked a fair bit later than expected, so I arrived 15mins after front desk closing hour at 7. (Check ins are meant to close at 5, although no caravan parks in Tas close that early, and been so close to the spirit of Tasmania with most of your customers checking in after it’s docking, surely wait until 6: 30pm?)

At first I didn’t realise that I booked the wrong date and called the park 3 times throughout the day (morning and twice in the afternoon) to inform that the ship was going to be late: sadly no pickup.

After arrival, the reception/caretaker/owner was openly very frustrated and short tempered in response to my call, which I had to press ‘1’ for urgency to get a response. After I figured out that I did book a month early, there was no sympathy from the other end and they claimed that the entire site booked out of any accommodation. There was a vacant sign at the front and throughout the day the website showed vacant powered sites. Unpowered site, or even a patch of grass would do, as the regulations state no parking on the side of the road or public areas in Devonport. But nothing was available apparently.

Regardless of what the deal was, she plainly said that she can’t help, did not give any advice on how I can proceed despite me politely asking, no recommendations on where else I can get a site and hang up after basically saying: tough luck.

Not her fault that I booked the wrong date and didn’t double check, not her fault that the spirit of Tasmania docked 30mins late, but given the situation, how obviously stressed out I was, been disinterested, openly frustrated and completely unsympathetic for a customer is just poor service.

Otherwise the park itself as I drove through to do a U’ie looked well maintained and the spacing was fairly generous. But it’s not just the face that determines a person and not just the maintenance and location of a park that determines it’s true value.

Well managed, clean amenities, plenty of room, drive in/put sites, as good as beach front. Better than expected. Thanks

Great park, en-suite site and great views. Very handy when coming in off the spirit of Tasmania. Would stay here again. Highly recommend.

Great park very close to the Spirit of Tasmania. Has a good play ground and jumping pillow for the kids. There are a few drive though sites perfect for before or after getting off the spirit of Tasmania

Nicely set out park real handy to the SOT if you are arriving from mlb or departing tsssie, large drive through sites with ensuite.

Fantastic place to stay. Clean and modern cabins. Friendly staff. Highly recommended to anyone.

Very clean and spacious. We checked in late and they made sure the heater was on for us wich was very considerate as we had young children. The cabin was very child proof and safe for our toddler. We love staying here.

Excellent location- very handy if needing to get to the Spirit of Tasmania boat terminal. Room was great! Nice spread out park.

We stayed here in an ensuite caravan site after disembarking from Spirit of Tas and again 7 weeks later before sailing back to the mainland. This park is perfectly located in East Devonport and has plenty of space and scenic views to the ocean. Ensuites were clean & functional and sites had a nice patch of grass to roll the caravan awning over. Staff were friendly, attentive & organised.so much so we just rolled straight back into our old site on return. But the icing on the cake was a late checkout. We didn't leave until 9pm on the day of departure to board the Spirit, it was a cold, windy rainy night and the late checkout with an ensuite was an absolute godsend. What a superb innovation by Discovery Parks Devonport, particularly for us caravanning mainlanders who have to catch a boat. The whole process was seamless so thank you guys, from the office staff to cleaners. A big thumbs up from us!
