Great feed! Very generous servings - the open steak sandwich was extremely tasty, and the loaded cookie was easily big enough to share. Check it out if youre getting on/hopping off the Spirit of Tasmania!

Horrible. First time I ever get to write a negative review.
Table for 2, we were after a nice short break in the middle of a 6h drive. Our drinks came rapidly but we had to wait for a while before a staff took our order, and our glasses were empty way before the food arrived, 1h after we had been seated. Nobody told us there was some waiting to be expected, and the restaurant were not crowded.
My vege frittata had been half-heated, parts still cold. One would expect that taking this out from the fridge shouldn't take that long. As veges there were nothing but mushrooms and a half olive, disappointing.
My partner had the scallops grilled in bacon, supposed to come in 8 pieces with rice and a rocket salad. He asked for no rice, for some reason he had no salad either (apart from two baby cress leaves on top) but 12 scallop/bacon pieces, could only eat 9 as they were very heavy on the stomach.
No need to say we both regretted this waste of time and money, and the long drive that followed was not sexy.

Very nice venue, good staff but the foid is expensive. My scollops were over cooked but all the other meals were okay i think. So maybe it was just me.

I have been a restaurant manager throughout NSW and Queensland for over 20 years in 2 & 3 hat restaurants. Central bar & restaurant is a MUST DO in tasmania. Food is perfect, atmosphere ideal and the staff (Chelsea, abbey, grace) are amazing.

I have only been the one time, with our family, but it was good. I had a very tasty, and correctly cooked medium rare steak. Others in my group had good looking and tasty menu items too. Our waitress was a little inexperienced or forgetful (was young, 18/19?) but it didn't spoil the experience. We sat right by the window in the new fittout and it was a lovely outlook onto the Mersey River. Menu had many options, prices were ok, above average for pub meals, but I thought they were reasonable for the product. I liked the new fittout, and would certainly revisit.

Have now been twice and on both occassions had to wait over 1 hour for meals. Not fun when you're out with kids. So unfortunate because the atmosphere looks fantastic.

Can be a bit hit and miss but had a good meal out with a small group and tried the Duck Breast, very tasty meal, drink order got mixed up but the girl was going by memory for 5 ppl. Pretty nice ambience with the maritime historic wall art.

My friend and I were sitting outside chatting when a group of 3 noticeably intoxicated men walked up to us and started making inappropriate jokes. Without provocation one of the men aggressively tried to touch my friends face. Two of them then flashed their butts when we asked them to stop, leave us alone and ignored them. To avoid them we moved away to walk inside. As we did this one of the men moved towards us, dropped his pants and exposed himself to us while laughing and shouting “ look at this”. He began to walk closer so we rushed inside to notify security. There was none and the bar manager said not to worry and if it happens again they will take action. Exposing yourself in that manner is unacceptable, it made us very uncomfortable and we left as a result. The bar staff should have taken immediate action and removed the perpetrator. Also, with a full bar I would have expected to see security. I am unsure on the laws here, but would also expect that you should not be serving alcohol to intoxicated persons.

EDIT: Response to owner. There was no security and there were only two staff on the bar both of which were female, one who claimed to be the manager. All the intoxicated men were holding drinks served to them by your bar staff. This situation was not handled as the men remained at the bar while we were forced to leave feeling violated and extremely disappointed in the reaction from the manager. There was definitely no security for your staff function and the staff you did have on allowed these men to stay in the venue despite what had occurred.

Night atmosphere. Good service. Enjoyed our meals. Some meals just a bit pricey is all I will say against our experience.

Food was decent. Presented well and the environment was nice, cosy even. Had a nice mix of new and old. The only downsides were price and the tables. Prices just seemed a tad bit steep for the meal. As for the table, I was seated at one of the larger settings and it was nice, but the table is too short. It had my legs hitting underneath making it a nuisance to tuck my chair in. Also due to the stout table, it had us hunched over. Besides that, good venue. And thank-you to the ladies that took care of us there.

Ordered salmon medium, supposed to come with "asian wok vegetables and noodles", no vegetables in site unless you count a strand of shallot and the onions soaked in sweet soy sauce.the salmon was waaay over done even though they actually asked us how we'd like it.medium my butt.sad last memory of otherwise awesome Tassie experience.

Really enjoyed dinner in the restaurant and few drinks in the pub. Loved the rustic/modern decor and the staff were so friendly and professional. Great sofas in the bar and few of the ferries coming or going. Great pub menu, the Pasta was delicious, lots fo sauce and serving was big. Lamb pizza had some great flavours with a slightly spicy dressing. The garlic bread with some grilled cheese was a treat! Large selection of drinks. Highly recommend this bar/restaurant and I will visit again.
