A shout out to the fabulous “Mac” for a super James Biag brewery tour! Mac sure knows her stuff, we are much wiser for the experience. The tasting at the end was both tasty and informative.
Hot tips: Wear closed in shoes (ie runners), and you must be able to climb and descend around 10 staircases throughout (no lifts).

Great service, the staff here were so friendly and knowledgeable about both the beer and the local area, got some great recommendations about places to stop and have a look at while in Launceston. The food was also delicious.

Went in to the main bar for a tasting the bar maid was as miserable as the weather outside definitely did not enjoy her job. No atmosphere felt like we were intruding on her day. So disappointed as we were keen tourists ready to enjoy our say. Ended up going elsewhere.

Great experience in Launceston. I learnt a lot about their brewing history and contribution to Launceston and Tasmania’s history. Amazing beer tasting experience after the tour as well. Make sure to spend some minutes checking out the beer museum the tour and beer tasting for some great beer memorabilia and nostalgia. Special kudos to our tour guide Alex for his great insight, tidbits of fun information, and great personality

I was essentially my partners tag-along for this tour, as he was keen and I wasn’t. However I am so glad I went! Tour was great and our tour guide Phil was great - knew his stuff and was informative. Would recommend!

Phil our tour guide was energetic and fun. He gave a great tour and presented the info in a fun and interesting manner, we didn't feel like we were being lectured to. The tasting at the end of the tour was so good we kept it going with a tasting paddle, highly recommended.

Interesting tour, the history of the brewery is amazing. The staff at the brewery tour reception were all friendly and welcoming. Phil the tour guide was full of information, funny and managed to keep it entertaining even when none of the machinery were operating, which was a bit disappointing but that is the chance one takes, there were plenty of warnings on the booking format of that possibility. We did see a video of the plant working and walked through the brewery so we could relate to the information provided. Tasting a few of the beers at the end of the tour, followed by a cheese platter in the bar (which we paid for), was a good way to spend a couple of hours with friends. Well worth the time and cost for any beer drinker.

Popped in a for a beer last night and it was awesome. The Boags on tap was great and the ginger beer very nice. Massive shout out to the staff that were super friendly and helpful.
The kitchen had also closed but the staff whipped us up what we both agreed were the best arancini balls we have ever had.
Thank you for a great experience!

The tour was interesting, made more so by the young bloke doing it. On completion when we reverted to the sample tasting bar which was great. We then went to the garden for a beer and a ploughman’s lunch type platter which was good value and very tasty! Pick a pleasant day and this is a great way to spend a couple of hours.

Fantastic tour of James Boag Brewery on Tuesday afternoon. Our tour guide was absolutely fantastic and we learned a lot and also had a great experience throughout the tour. We had a group of 14 and everyone had a great time. If you are in Launceston make sure you book in a tour at James Boag. You’ll be sure to enjoy the experience.

You know it’s a good tour when you realise your tour has come to an end so quickly and you don’t think it’s been over an hour. Matt was very entertaining and interesting. Good knowledge of the whole brewing process and the beers. Tasting was good but annoyingly I had to drive and could only have little samples. Car parking area was missed and we wasted time looking for a car park and then we realised that there was plenty of free parking behind the little pub on the other side of the street.
Highly recommended if you have or want an interest in brewing beer.
