Boags Brewery reviews
58The tour guide was very cheerful, likeable, and informative. Great tour around the establishment. Will be back again!
Cory was a great guide. Knowledgeable and entertaining. Recommend this tour and beers afterwards. Cheers
Second visit just as good as the first.
Ploughmans lunch for eats before doing the tour.
Great atmosphere, love these old buildings, so much history. Staff were very friendly and knowledgable. Food was great both times. Tour was again fun.
Love dropping in and picking up my cartons of St George and XXX. Have done the tour and it's great.
My partner and I had such an amazing time at this brewery/tour. (I forget our guides name, sorry!) but she was amazing and so incredibly lovely. At the end, we were able to taste test the beers in a full glass and had a funny/great conversation with our guide. It felt so welcoming and just overall friendly. I highly recommend. The tour itself was pretty interesting!
Went for a brewery tour with Nicole as our guide. She was extremely knowledgeable, funny, and a great guide. We can tell that she loves what she does and knows what she is talking about. We had a great time and would recommend going for a tour and learn more about the history of James Boag Beer Company while trying delicious beers.
Was an excellent experience, even if you don’t drink the tour is very well put together and the tour guides are awesome.
A great Tasmanian experience. Really enjoyed the tour, even though the plant was not working due to being a Sunday. The history and production explanations were very informative. The tour was finished well with some tastings. Yum!
Great experience. Cody the guide was most entertaining. If you want a full brewery experience suggest go on a Monday to Thursday when the brewery and bottling is actually operating. Went on a Friday and the entire plant was stationary.
A very informative 90 mins, Phil was a great tour guide. We enjoyed the 3 beers at the end, especially the St George lager. Well worth a visit.
What a thoroughly enjoyable and informative tour this was. Rachel our guide was an absolute gem of an ambassador for James Boag. Highly recommend this tour when in Launceston!
Professional yet funny and knowledgeable. The guide, Phil was the one who made the experience fun
Go on Tuesdays & Wednesdays to see it operating. Charlie was our guide, he had great knowledge to share and real enthusiasm.
What a great tour of the brewery, we had a brilliant guide called Rach, very informative and full of interesting facts about the brewery and beer. We all had a couple of beers when we finished I would highly recommend this tour
Educational and fun experience! We did the tour as a team bonding activity for work. Cory, our guide, did a fantastic job. He was knowledgeable, and also quite humorous. It was very interesting to learn about the brewing process and see the 'behind the scenes' of all the brews. Would definitely recommend.
Being new to Tasmania we were told it's a must do.
So glad we did. The tour is fascinating and a lot of fun.
Charlie is hilarious and super knowledgeable. Hubbie enjoyed the tastings a lot.
The only sad part is that Lions in Melbourne wanted to shut this great attraction down.
Whoever came up with this idea should come down here experience it and learn what the oldest Brewery in Australia really means, and try to enhance the experience further rather than kill it.
In the meantime anyone thinking about booking a tour, don't hesitate, it's an awesome experience even if you're not a beer drinker.
Cheers
I would suggest if you run a promotion of a Free Beanie, through Thirsty Camel Bottle shops for Boags St George Beer, you would give them enough Beanies for the stock of Beer they put in for the promo. 24 hours after the Promo started, they had already run out of beanies - not a good marketing stunt!
Fact: Over 160 years ago, James Boag moved halfway around the world from Scotland to the untamed island of Tasmania. There he began brewing in the township of Launceston on the banks of the Esk River and today the brewery has become a beating heart for the people of Tasmania!
Great experience in Launceston. I learnt a lot about their brewing history and contribution to Launceston and Tasmania’s history. Amazing beer tasting experience after the tour as well. Make sure to spend some minutes checking out the beer museum after the tour and beer tasting for some great beer memorabilia and nostalgia. Special kudos to our tour guide Alex for his great insight, tidbits of fun information, and great personality
Quite disappointing the brewery is only operating 3 days a week and is empty when not running.
You get to watch a 8 minute video of how everything works on a small TV after a walk through the brewery and warehouse.
Might be better if the tours are run on the days it's going
