Blue Eye Seafood Restaurant

This restaurant is located at the back of a busy street lined with restaurants. Ticket parking lots line the street, but there aren't many spaces available.
There are heaters above the terrace seats, and they were on even in the summer, so I feel like they're very friendly and the atmosphere is nice.
A kids menu will be available upon request.
I wasn't able to eat the freshly prepared fish due to the parking lot, but I think the fish dishes are delicious.

Beautiful food, the oysters were excellent! A good size too! Delicious Blue Eye, and a nice serving of scallops, although they are small but tasty! Service was lovely!

Excellent food, just the right size and price. We could not get enough of it. The waiters were also excellent.

Just come here. Better than Mures. And if you have gluten allergies, they've got fried fish and fried shrimp. Tons of local wines too

First time visiting from Melbourne, and this was our initial stop in Hobart. While we encountered shockingly poor service with a waitress, I’d like to focus on the positive aspects without letting one person’s behaviour overshadow the rest. The food was excellent – the best fish and chips and clam chowder I've ever had.

However, our experience was affected by the waitress. She left the table twice during the process of taking our order without explanation. We were so confused as we had a simple request of 3 dishes. 5 minutes later while wondering where she went, another waitress, who was much more pleasant, took over. I’ve never experienced this in my life.

Despite the negative encounter, we were happy and excited to be there. It's frustrating when a person's mood affects others. Even after our meal, trying to order coffee was difficult. Our attempt to get the waitress's attention was ignored, which was disrespectful. Even if she couldn’t attend to us straight away and had plates to put back, she should’ve acknowledged us or say “i’ll be right back”.

It's my first time complaining to a manager and I hope she does something about it. You gotta have good manners, especially in a service role.

I went there earlier and ordered mixed seafood grill but was a bit disappointed as some of the fish that was in the plate was not fresh and kinda smell, it actually make my tounge itchy after taking a bite. The rest on the plate is okay though…

Amazing Seafood! Best oysters in town even better at $2 during 3-5pm! Seafood chowder was delicious!

Lovely waterfront seafood restaurant. Not at all pretentious but quality food and a great place for a dinner out with friends. Excellent wines available and I particularly loved the sashimi entree and the trevalla with mash. Very friendly service - highly recommended!

Great seafood and overall menu. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Definitely worth the trip and also great for kids.

Fresh seafood and good portion. We enjoyed the oysters entrée, seafood pasta and their special on the board. Really made our night at Hobart.

Brilliant service, our waitress was super friendly, swift and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with our meals. The food was absolutely delicious, I would 100% recommend getting the oysters, and the portion sizes of the food was really good, everything on the plates got finished and we weren't overwhelmed.

Popped in for lunch today and the food was wonderful!

Staff were attentive, food prompt and internal ambiance all great! I had the fish and salad as well as scollops, all of which were nice.

One key to remember is this place serves quality food, not quantity food. If you are super hungry order additional (like i did)!

We were in Hobart and as we where there on a Monday there wasn't that many places open for dinner so as we were staying close to Salamanca place we saw this place and made a booking for dinner. We hoped for a nice seafood meal and we were more than impressed. The seafood was fresh, well seasoned, tasty and well prepared. We had a local Tassie Riesling to compliment the meal.

We shared 6 oysters and a smoked tout pate. I then had the chargrilled octopus with Greek salad and my partner had the seafood linguini.

If you're in town, make a beeline for this place, but do book as they turn people away!

This restaurant was recommended to us by Miss Haidlee Millinery and did not disappoint. We were warmly greeted and service was efficiently and charmingly executed by Jed. I had two entrees and we shared dessert and a cheese plate. Highly recommend.

Unique artsy but cosey ambience, delicious food, and very friendly staff. Somewhat on the louder side when fully occupied but no need to shout for one on one conversations

Blue Eye is fabulous. The food is fresh and perfectly cooked. Prices are reasonable. Staff are friendly. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic seafood. And the sauces they make here are to die for.

I adored the Thai fish cakes. Fish cakes are normally so bland but not these. Not their sauce.

Dumplings were also fantastic and that sauce on particular had a wonderful taste and bite to it.

First time I have been there and from the moment we walked in the door to the moment we left I cannot fault them.

We were greeted warmly, we arrived early but they took that in their stride. The service was warm, welcoming and efficient and the food was simply magnificent.
