Bicheno by the Bay reviews
55Nice little cosy stay with a surprising facility like a swimming pool and a tennis court. Would be perfect when wifi becomes available!
An exceptional unique stay in the A-frame bungalow.
The place was well equipped with kitchen utensils, air conditioning, comfortable bedding. There is a tennis court on-site where you can borrow balls and racquets.
The location is perfect, minutes walk to the blowhole trail, lobster shack, the main street for bakery and seafood restaurants.
The highlight for us was the fairy penguins nesting under our bungalow. They did get noisy at night for a short period but the disrupted sleep was worth it as we observed them from our room wandering around our block on the deck at night and keeping the lights off to not scare them. We were warned in advanced about the noise they make during the night and how to respect the animals during the day and night by the reception - I could see this as an issue for some who do not appreciate the disruption so perhaps forewarning and an offer for travellers to opt out that particular bungalow might be something to consider if another bungalow is available.
Fantastic location. Easy check in. The iga has everything you need even cape grim beef! The cabins are very clean and comfortable. Beds are great. Highly recommend!
We love Bicheno by the Bay. Have stayed twice. The staff are lovely, view from the cabin was beautiful, across the road from an amazing coastal walk, close to town, clean rooms that have had renovations to modernise them, comfy beds, great price, playground for the kids, close to town.really I cannot fault it. Would stay again in a heartbeat.
Wonderful Weekend Escape!
Visited Bicheno for the June long weekend with friends. We had two cabins, two of us stayed in "Suncoast" I think it was called, absolutely loved our stay. Cabin was clean, spacious, self contained with everything you would need for a great weekend. Bathroom had a great shower, bed was so comfortable and all so peaceful and quite!
Can't wait to return.
My husband messed up on the reservation, but the off duty hotel clerk came to the office and made it all right! Great place, great location, super nice staff!
We had a great room, best during our 9 days traveling around Tasmania. The staff were very helpful and mainly invisible. It’s very handy to town and the penguin tours pick-up point at night.
Old and battling a bit on the outside. But the inside refurbishment of units very good.
You can see the total refurbishment is underway. Enjoyed the stay and the environment. Will stay there again.
Friendly staff and spacious rooms that have been renovated. Great location with a short drive or walk to the bicheno blowhole and plenty of food options around town. Note if you do get a room up the top of the hill, driving in the carport with a 2WD can be a challenge
The house we stayed in was getting aged. Beds hard. Light in the bedroom works when it wants to.
Just needs some updating thats all.
Apart from that it's ok to stay.
Beautiful location. Good facilities in the rooms. Well set out layout of cabins tha give most a view of the ocean but still provides a bit of privacy.
Affordable and very clean coastal accommodation. We stayed in two different rooms/buildings and will definitely stay there again if we ever go back to Bicheno. Plenty of cafes/restaurants, and an IGA within 5 minutes walk. Try the Lobster Shack for amazing crispy chips and an awesome view.
We had a wonderful time staying here recently. The location was fantastic, as was the view from our apartment. It was self contained, with everything we needed and more. Would gladly stay again.
Unstable WiFi, good separate toilet and shower, good location to ocean front and IGA supermarket. The water flow from shower is slow.
Be extra careful with your belongs. I forgot a piece of clothing among the bed sheets. I have contact them several times to retrieve my belong but they just dont care. They said they would talk with the laundry, but since then they haven’t replied my emails. Its worrying because its only a piece of clothing. Imagine if it was a mobile or a jewelery…
The cabins are very dated and look tacky and cheap. I guess the rely entirely in the location to keep selling this accomodation.
Very comfortable stay! We stayed in the forest lodge and we could see the sea from the window. Check in is at 2pm and the receptionist gets off at 4pm so you'll have to retrieve your keys from the mailbox. We had a slight problem trying to park our car into our porch but you shouldn't have any issues if you're driving a 4WD/SUV. The location is really good, walking distance (less than 10 mins) to IGA and you can walk to the beach and see the Bicheno blowhole too! (About ten minutes walk) Wifi is not available in all rooms. There are little attractions around the area which are good for kids to play around too. They have snacks on the table and in the fridge available, which you will have to pay for if you were to consume them. The kitchen is pretty good if you want to cook yourself but their knife is not really sharp.
We really enjoyed our 4 night’s here as a family of 4. Great central location - short walk to everywhere including the Lobster Shack which was great for dinner. Unit was a good size for the 4 of us, warm and comfortable with a full kitchen. Also appreciated the free washing machine!
Staff were very helpful and kind. My son forgot his toy and the staff found it and mailed it back to us.
Despite the manager saying the pool was never advertised as heated, it is on the Bicheno by the Bay official website as being a heated pool.
This is an extract from the website: ''But try keeping the children inside when there’s a heated outdoor pool, full size tennis court, free use of canoes in our own canoe lake, and a full size pirate boat and cubby house in the playground! "'
I can't understand why management keep insisting it was never a heated pool and yet is advertised as such, maybe they just aren't maintaining the website.
Great place to stay, right in the middle of bicheno. Walking distance to everthing including shops, the blow hole and the shore walk. Cabin has everything you need including fully equipped kitchen.
If you can, ask for the blue cabin, it has the best views and is closest to the water!
Nice accommodation, with lots of character. The place was clean, comfortable, spacious and well equipped and had a washing machine: very important when you are traveling. Great location near the beach and central for some walks too.
