Alice's Cottages reviews
57We stayed at the Irish Cottage and it was exactly as shown in the pictures. The place had some many historical details including very old books. Great four post bed and lovely big bathroom. The decor was superb and the breakfast supplies very generous.
Thank you so much for a lovely stay. Conveniently situated to some great eating, Alice’s Cottages are delightful! Tastefully fabulous themed rooms.
Clean, generous breakfast (diy), easy self check in, been here many times before, will be back again
What a great place. Location was fantastic. We had the Scottish Cottage. The property had a very cosy feel blended with historical charm. It also had all the modern amenities that you needed. The rooms were a very good size and the bed very comfortable. The in-room breakfast was sensational. Communication with the owners was very prompt and helpful. Overall, we had a truly memorable 3 night stay. Highly recommended. We will definately be back!
Cosy, cute and comfortable. The extra touches make the difference and it’s close by places to eat. You won’t be disappointed.
What a truly amazing place the Welsh Cottage was. Cute, cosy, romantic. Every little thoughtful detail makes it a perfect retreat
Quirky, old and charming. We didn't expect to love the cottages as much as we did! But the bath, fire, kitchen, laundry and little garden totally charmed us. We will be back. Great price, location and vibe.
Wow, this place is amazing!
So basically the layout consists of five differently themed cottages, refurbished "shambles" dating back a century or two that have managed to maintain enough old school charm to make them magical while being comfortable and convenient, just blocks from central Launceston.
I stayed in the Scottish Cottage, it was incredible! It was like stepping back into a simpler more wholesome time. A nip of port on arrival to sip while wandering around the place exploring the new digs was the cherry on top. From a set of antique gold clubs in the corner of the living room, the old fly fishing rod hanging by the entrance, the stray hat, just sitting above the fridge to set the mood and onto the ancient radio that actually works, the attention to detail was amazing!
It was the claw footed bath that really got me over the line when booking however. To finally live out a quaint childhood fantasy, and in such a setting, was as omething else. Laying back in that deep bath on a cold autumn's evening, basking in the low-light orange glow of the bathroom lamps, exploring the beautiful restorative work the owners had done, paying tribute to a time gone by was nothing short of a perfect end to an amazing trip to Tasmania.
So to wake up the next morning to a basket full of breakfast goods that could, with no exaggeration, sustain one through the entirety of an active day, was just wonderful. Sitting in the cottage, by the kitchen window downing bacon, eggs, fruit, yoghurt, museli and toast while wistfully gazing out the window, contemplating whether to get out and tackle the days activities or just lay back on the couch and read a book by the warm glow of the fire and soak up the charm of this cottage was actually a difficult decision.
If you're one that enjoys a taste of tradition, culture, history or even just something quirky and eccentric.do not miss Alice's Cottages.
The "Boudoir was just that! Fabulous. It was exactly as I had planned for a special treat for my partners birthday. We will definitely be going back. Very clean. Gorgeous comfy bed. We loved all the goodies to! Thanks you
Very cute cottage, very clean, bed was very comfortable, quiet location really enjoyed our short stay
What a find! This is an amazing place to stay if you happen to be in Launceston. A former workers’ cottage loaded with history, it’s both central and comfortable. The daily breakfast basket made it amazing value for money and there were thoughtful extras everywhere including a comprehensive guidebook and welcome gift. I’m of Irish extraction and can confirm the theme is the real deal - I felt like I was in my grandmothers’ living room and very much enjoyed seeing the range of Irish authors on the bookshelf. My partner and I had our two-month-old baby in tow and our portable cot fitted neatly into the bedroom, plus there was plenty of room to lay a play mat out in the living room and give her a bath in the sink. The hot water was plentiful and the spa bath fitted two taller-than-average people easily. I can’t recommend staying here highly enough.
We stayed in the Boudoir Cottage for 4 nights.
There isn't anything the hosts haven't thought of!
The decor is to die for.the wigs and masks.well, ooh la la ;-)
The decanter of port, very thoughtful.
Spa bath.little kitchenette which was just right.with condiments etc supplied
The on site laundry, very handy.
Great location, walkable into Launceston Centre and the Cataract Gorge, which is a must do!
We can't wait to recommend these cottages and would love to go back and try one of the other themed cottages.
You wont be disappointed)
My partner and I loved our stay in the Irish Cottage. The team really went above and beyond to make our holiday perfect and there was honestly nothing that could be improved about the accomodation. Great job Alice’s Cottages!
What a great place to visit. It was full of character and mementoes of time gone by. The deep bath was relaxing to soak in.
Alice's Cottages was a treasure find. We stayed in the 'Scottish' cottage filled with so many treasures to look at. Cute, cosy and charming everything was generously provided including breakfast. We couldn't have asked for anything more, thank you, we will be back.
Perfect accommodation! Have thought of everything. Love the quirky decor! Location is pretty good too!
We stayed in Irish Cottage for 2 nights and are definitely in love with the cottage. The kitchen was well equipped, the bed was big and comfortable, there was a fireplace at the lounge room, outdoor seating area and ensuite with a big spa bath. The cottage rate includes a hearty breakfast (bacon, egg, tomato, bread, spreads, milk, juice, muesli and yoghurt) as well as cheese plater and local drinks (beer and cider) to welcome you. There was also a washing machine, dryer, washing powder and clothes horses in the laundry for your use. All the detergent were environmentally friendly too. I love the fact that there are lots of small details in the cottage to make it feel much more homey:)
