1830 Restaurant and Bar, Port Arthur reviews
48Recently had dinner, absolutely loved the meal and dessert, great service and lovely staff, nice view's, Highly recommend.
Great food, drink and somewhat service. The only down fall would be our food was forgotten about and we waited 45 mins for breakfast to be served.
Absolutely fantastic! Spectacular food, wonderful ambiance, delightful staff! I came here on recommendation from a friend and will definitely be raving about this restaurant for years to come! A must do!
The food is way over priced for poorly cooked pub style food. Honestly, you're better off getting a pie from the servo
We were fortunately served by a very friendly waiter named Micheal. Excellent service as we were seated and served.
View from dinner tonight. Food was amazing, service 10/10. Friendly, fast and tasty. Cold beer was the cherry on top. Very highly rated. When in Port Arthur give yourself a treat here, then do the ghost tour.
A delicious meal with excellent service. Highly recommend the After Dark package and Ghost tour
Fabulous dining experience. Food was exceptional! One of the best during our Tasmanian holiday. We visited 1830 as part of the Port Arthur ghost tour and would fly back to Tassy for this little gem!
You would need x-ray vision to take in the advertised sweeping views of the historic site due to being overgrown with trees. The dining area has all the charm of an underground train station cafeteria. Ticket sales are right outside with people standing in line able to look through the floor to ceiling glass, giving one the feeling of dining in fish bowl feel. If you are expecting anything more than expensive restaurant priced food, you will be disappointed.
Beautiful presentation and location but food was bland except for 1 condiment which was way too spicy (we love spicy, but this level didn't match the dish)
Pretty good food. Nice staff and atmosphere. Allowed us to make a change to the menu. Clean and tidy.
A grey modern contrast to its surroundings, and modern Australian fusion cuisine that was spectacular.
10/10 would recommend
Delicious food, attentive staff and the fine dining we were searching for in Tasmania. The lamb was cooked to perfection and the view of Port Arthur was awesome. Thank you for a yummy and romantic dinner.
On the pricy side for some things on the menu, but definitely worth it. Atmosphere is up market but relaxed, staff are top notch and very friendly. Food is superb. 1830 is very child friendly for will behaved kids.
We ordered steak, bacon and prawn pizzas and kids meals. Steak was perfectly cooked. Pizzas are generously proportioned (pro tip they're perfect for sharing with someone with a bowl of chips). Kids meals were huge and great value for $12!
We recently had dinner with you guys during our honeymoon. If you recall, we told you your food and service were the best we'd seen while in Tasmania. Well, we've finished our trip now and you were not topped.and we did have some great food in amazing spots.
You guys are committed and passionate and it showed in both your service and the plates that arrived in front of us. Thank you for giving us a memory we both won't forget.
Jeff and Bec.
I simply cannot fault this dining experience in anyway at all. One of the best meals I have ever had, both courses were absolutely delicious and flavoursome. The fish and the chicken were cooked to perfection, and both well sized. The chicken pine nut crumb was something different and went down well, and it mixed perfectly with the parmesan and peppers in side salad. Yes, they pulled of the side salad which is a true compliment, considering I almost always hate them. The fish was a true masterpiece, it melted in your mouth, and possessed flavours I would never expect from such a dish. The lemon mash potato was different, but I absolutely loved every mouthful, the flavours mix unexpectedly well together. The olives, which often overpower other flavours added well to this dish, and they chose the right type of lighter olive for it too. The deserts were also fantastic, but I prefered the tart, even if it wasn't as asthetically pleasing as the roule. The staff were friendly, providing useful information about the area and the food arrived fast. The first meal I have had that I simply cannot fault.
Good brekkie, comfortable funky Cafe and gift store with small art gallery attached. Found the artwork exceptionally expensive for the quality but still worth a look.did love the contemporary sculpture of the Tasmanian tiger and devil Top class work.
We had a fantastic meal here. After a day walking around the site in the heat, it was the perfect finish. The Blue Eye Trevella is a definite do not miss. We sat right in front of the window and watched the sun sunset over the site. Very relaxing.
The lamb koftas were flavourless, the mussels were undercooked and the Black Forest roulade was dense and tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge for over a week. The views are beautiful over the historic site but that’s about as good as the meal got. Disappointing as I expected a lot more from a restaurant that is always booked out.
OK but very tourist orientated. Not about the food rather a basic experience to go with the ghost tour.
