1830 Restaurant and Bar, Port Arthur

A perfect place to get a super after browsing Port Arthur historical site. The food is delicious and the service is great!

It is the best steak ever! Reasonable price, Great atmosphere and beautiful view. Strongly recommended. I'll definitely come back again when I visit Tasmania.

Dinner was absolutely amazing but Liz and the service was even better! We had the quail, sashimi and oysters then for mains the steak, pork and chicken and all were 1st class. Even the chips were fantastic.

We had the night tour package which includes dinner. Pork belly was so good that the fat could melt in mouth.

Great view with excellent food. We have booked in advance and seat near the window. We could see the castle while enjoying our food. Ordered steak, curry and entry dishes. They were delicious and affordable.
If you wish to attend the ghost tour or will stay in surrounding areas for a night. Try this place for your dinner!

We ate here as part of the After Dark package, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The entre and mains were both delicious. The have a good range to chose from including a few different wine options.

I loved this place and the food was amazing.

There is a view of Port Arthur (see photo) itself while eating your meal which just adds to the atmosphere.
There is a Gold chain curtain that sheilds the busy kitchen from full view that just adds to the ambience beautifully.
I would have gone back as would our group of 14 if they were open on Sunday night.

Delicious food. We took octopus with chorizo, fried quail, fish with with macadamia cream that were fantastic. Highly recommended meringa with mango and chocolate tart. A bit expensive but good quality.

Zero star. Disgusting food. We had potato leek soup. The soup had no leek flavour in it and tasted raw potato. Bread too was hard. Chips were not fried enough.
As these were not edible we ate egg and salad sandwiches and these too tasted below average.

Make sure to book ahead as tables are limited. Food was fantastic, staff were attentive and they made sure we were finished in time for our After Dark tour. Windows could have used a clean outside to see out over the Port Arthur site better in the late afternoon sunset, but this was a minor issue in an otherwise lovely dining experience.

Unbelievable meals!
And I don't say that about many places.

If you come to Tassie for a holiday definitely got to check this place out.

Definitely a must visit! Quality is good and simply just too delicious. Very good service. Not cheap but definitely worth the price. I enjoyed everything (except the chips, just not my type). The bread is way too good I ordered extra portions (very thankful they allowed my request because it's not on the menu). Remember to make reservation because this place is popular!

We had dinner at 1830 Restaurant with last minute booking during our trip to Port Arthur in June. The restaurant is inside the historic site building. Very friendly and helpful staffs. Food was delicious and service was great. Recommended.

SPLENDID! A good choice of the fine dining with a great experience in Port Arthur. Friendly, considerate and well-trained staff, it is no doubt that food is characteristic and specialty in Port Arthur.
The delicate and exquisite 2 courses of the After Dark package including a ghost tour is absolutely unique experience that you’d ever never had like this.

Great restaurant! Staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive. Special thanks to Molly for checking with the chefs about some tricky dietary requirements and being an all around great waitress:)

Porterhouse was pretty decent value and was paired really well with the horseradish. The curry could have had more flavour but the condiments and naan it came with were fantastic. You can tell the menu has had a lot of thought put into it - also great to see regional produce being prioritised!

Was really nice to come here before the ghost tour as service was prompt and we could have a pick-me-up coffee with dessert.

Port Arthur is a sleepy place to visit in Autumn. Food options available in the area consist of local pubs and fish n chips. After a long day hiking, my partner and I booked a table at 1830. From the beginning everything was great. Our waitress Kathrin was lovely and the food was tasty, service was also super quick. I had the salt and pepper squid, and pork belly. Both very nice. My partner had the steak and chips. I ate all of the chips off his plate because they were that good. Lots of local Tassie drinks and wines to choose from too. Highly recommend.

I had the dinner and ghost tour package and WHOA what an amazing meal!
High class restaurant with great staff. My steak was delicious and dessert… OMG!
I will be coming back next time in Tassie for sure.

The food was outstanding, the service was great without being intrusive and the view from the restaurant excellent.
