The Popeye River Cruises reviews
57Fantastic evening out, Chalk Hill wine and local chocolates paired together. Just sit back and enjoy the ride on Popeye on the River Torrens with great staff to assist. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!
After more than 14 years in Adelaide, I finally found my way to the Popeye for a nice morning tea with the kids and we loved it! Thanks to our captain and all the information he shared with us… tour was nice and the scones were amazing!
My family and I had a great time on the Popeye II! It was a very fun and informative cruise with entertaining commentary on the history of the river and it's remarkable sights. The Captain did a great job keeping the whole boat laughing and having a great time. I highly recommend a ride!
Thoroughly enjoyed our chocolate & wine tasting sunset cruise. Thanks to the staff from Popeye & Chalk Hill Winery
I joked with my husband that our 90-minute cruise would be the 45-minute cruise done twice, I was right. Hahaha. The Kangaroo Island Spirit tasting was disappointing; we could barely hear the girl telling us about each drink over the cackling of the women on board, and the measures were minuscule. We ordered two cheese plates to accompany our tasting, and this too was very average.
If you are a group of girls wanting g a good start to an evening out, fabulous. If you are a couple after an informative cruise along the River Torrens, you will be disappointed.
Fun and informative river cruise. Its a short waddle around the river but you get to see some nice views
The noisy and stinky diesel engine meant any hope of understanding the commentary would be greatly hampered. The second crewman listened to a radio app on her phone which also contributed to making and commentary more difficult to understand as tourists from Brisbane I've travelled around Australia and this would have to be the worst cruise I have ever done. Noisy children didn't help.
On the bright side the coffee was nice.
Will not recommend to anyone.
Switching to solar piwer with an electric engine would solve the noise problem and be more environmentally friendly. Fingers crossed a omebody reads tjis review and makes this change.
Great people to deal with. An icon of South Australia, one that should be protected and never lost. I remember as a boy when my parents took me on the Popeye, since them my children have been and not to long and their children will have the privilege to ride the Popeye as i did. Friendly professional staff who make it a great enjoyable experience. Highly recommended.
Payed 30 in travel to get there and back and they had cancelled on us, yes they did ring that morning but i dont answer unknown numbers and didnt check the message because i thought my daughter had left me a msg due to a missed call.plus the man on the boat was very dismissive to the waiting customers.very disappointed
Great relaxing river cruise along River Torrens. Both Captain Tony and Hamish were very nice. Lovely scenery together with delicious scones, cream, jam and hot drinks.
A friend and I had a lovely trip on Popeye today. We had good commentary and saw numerous ducklings and even a cygnet. We enjoyed a Devonshire tea and coffee too. A lovely way to spend an hour.
We went on the Devonshire Tea cruise and it was a great experience. It gives a different perspective on the city. The captain/tour guide was very informative and gives a good description of the history of Adelaide. It's a must-try even if you live in, or just visiting Adelaide. Great fun for the whole family.
The scones provided were heavenly. One of the best we've had. A big shout-out to Tony and Alex for their friendly service which adds to the experience.
I have been on both the gin tours and the high tea events on the Popeye. The staff were welcoming and professional. Would highly recommend both events if tour looking for something to do. Was very enjoyable and had lots of fun.
This was fun and relaxing! The crew were so friendly and the guide was funny amusing and knowledgeable. Learnt some new things about the history of the city. The morning tea package was a nice treat on a sunny day. They operated to time and were so professional yet calm and chilled across the 45 mins down and around the Torrens.
Nice and easy, lazy leisure. We went on Devonshire Tea Cruise and the scones were quite good. It's only 45min so kids managed to sit quietly and look for birds and even turtles.
Magnificent day for a cruise. Great commentary and they dropped us off at the zoo landing for a lovely afternoon in the Botanic Gardens where the cycads and aloes were showing off their flowers.
Great cruise along the river, with knowledgeable commentary along the way. Very scenic and relaxing. You can have a Devonshire tea, tea and coffee are free and has a licenced bar. Highly recommended and inexpensive too
Adelaide Australia was once considered a laid-back city but the way it has revamped itself into the lifestyle capital of the country has left everyone surprised in a good way & credits to The Popeye River Cruises for showing it's beauty thoroughly!
Love the Popeye and Paddle-boats at the river Torrens. I have been on both more times than I can count with my kids, my grandkids and clients and friends. The paddle boats are lots of fun but your legs sure get tired- worth it! The Popeye is very informative with the friendly commentary. It’s a really nice all around trip to zoo return and cool that there’s the option to get off at the zoo.
Comfortable and spacious. Drinks for sale on the boat. Staff are very friendly and fun.
I had trouble booking and called for help. Bianca went above and beyond to assist. I haven't had this excellent customer serive in a long time!
