The Popeye River Cruises reviews
57The cruise was very relaxing with delicious food and friendly staff. Highly recommend for an enjoyable afternoon
A thoroughly relaxing and informative cruise. Our Captain was entertaining and very knowledgeable. Boarding was extremely easy and we had no trouble at all finding the jetty to board from.
Lovely friendly cruise operators. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a short cruise whilst in Adelaide. Thank you!
Had a lovely time the commentary was fun and lively. The Devonshire tea was wonderful. Highly recommend
A fun activity for the weekend and it was pleasant to enjoy a cold beverage on board!
A friendly crew and a great way to tour Adelaide’s river Torrens.
Lovely relaxing hour on the Torrens on a glorious Spring morning. To be honest you can do this cruise on foot and see exactly the same sights, but we didn’t feel like walking so this was a great alternative. Commentary was informative, staff extremely friendly. The cruise hostess handing round laminated and mostly terrible quality old black and white photos of sights we passed was quite eccentric! I’d recommend this if you don’t feel energetic enough to stroll the river banks yourself and just want to sit back, relax and learn a bit about this city.
Fantastic cruse! Nice and relaxing but most of all Lidia went out of her way to accommodate my Gluten Free diet, and camomile tea! Best service with a smile - recommend to everybody!:)
Thanks Popeye, a wonderful afternoon High Tea! Greeted so warmly on this cold winters day by Jodie, so kind and delightful! On board, great service from Jamie and Lidija's food was absolutely delicious! Especially the sausage rolls and the lemon curd tarts! Tony, the captain, was most entertaining with wonderful stories & a great hat! The warmth and genoristy of this crew could only bode well. Thankyou for looking after so very well, and special thanks to all via Jodie getting the Popeye to pick us up at Elder park with Ant's knee (operation) and our new friend, Joan, 80, who drove the Popeye like a sea captain of old! Even dear Queen Lizzi loved the Popeye! So wonderful that this Adelaide icon is still so well loved, and better than ever, thanks to the current curators! Highly recommend taking the slow road for a little while and enjoying the wonderful hospitality, fabulous food and top service! 5 stars! We'll be back! Love the Adelaide Newmans, Maddy and Ant

Held a hen’s party on the boat. Staff were absolutely incredible, nothing was too hard, went above and beyond throughout the week and during to make it a perfect day. Thank you so, so much!
My wife and I sailed into Port Adelaide on March 6 aboard Ovation Of The Seas and rushed into Elder Park on the train to catch a 12pm Popeye Cruise.we made it with 3 hours to spare. Wife made us go shopping in Adelaide for 2 1/2 hours before we got on the tour. Was a great trip on Popeye and very informative commentary from the skipper. Recommend it thoroughly. (Front 2 rows on the port side had to move to starboard due to imbalance:) )
Only 45 minute cruise up and down the Torrens River. Our Captain was a gold mine of information. Pre book for seating priority and while you're at it treat yourself to Devonshire Tea.
Lived in Adelaide for over 20 years and never went on Popeye. I have lived in Sydney for almost as long, but it took a holiday in Adelaide for me to finally check it out.
Cost looks high for a short river cruise, but you get a really interesting tour, with some interesting facts about Adelaide's history, and it really was worth the trip. Well presented by the charismatic tour guide.
We took a one way trip to go to the Adelaide Zoo, and skipped the return ride due to time constraints. If time wasn't an issue, the return ride would have been worth it I reckon.
Great experience! Very knowledgeable Captain and Jodie his “off sider” was great value! Very reasonable! An absolute must
I was visiting Adelaide from Perth last week and a highlight of my week was a trip along the River Torrens aboard the Popeye. A great way to enjoy the sights of this beautiful city that has so much character. The Popeye crew welcome you aboard, there's refreshments and a wonderfully entertaining commentary of the sights and history of Adelaide as you cruise the river. The Popeye itself is steeped in local history. I will definitely make the Popeye part of future trips to Adelaide and urge all visitors to do the same. First class and professional.
I went on a Popeye cruise with some friends this morning and it was an absolutely delightful experience! Our captain provided fantastic commentary and lots of interesting history along the way. We pre-ordered the Devonshire Tea option which was delicious, fresh and a very generous serve. And the service on board was friendly and efficient. Thank you so much, it was a fabulous way to spend a sunny spring morning and a good reminder of how much fun it is to be a tourist in your home town.
Enjoyable way to spend 50 mins. Captain was knowledgeable pointing out building and a bit about their history. For most of the building you will only be able to see to roof tops.
We had a great 45 min cruise on the water. Mia and the crew were sweet and light-hearted. Easy to find, easy to board, good info. Thanks team!
Had a great time on the river yesterday. Popeye cruises were excellent. Very informative with some humour thrown in, very enjoyable time. If you get the chance, definitely go for a cruise!
Good price, very good commentary and easy to access. The staff are friendly and the tour is informative.
I'd recommend it for anyone who has an hour spare in Adelaide.
My wife and I took my mum on board the popeye for a 45 minute cruise. Had the Devonshire teaon board. Scones were awesome. Mia was our boat captain and was very informative. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves
