The Maylands Hotel reviews
64They served a calamari which was grey and revolting then made my friend pay full price for another meal. Shame shame shame
Poor atmosphere in what used to be a great pub. Our waiter tried hard but the food was over priced for what was served. Really wanted to like this place but unfortunately I can't recommend it.
The food came in quick and piping hot. The service was superb and the ambiance was truly something you had to see for yourself. There's a playground right across the street, and tables just outside the restaurant so parents/guardians can take turns tapping in to play and tapping out for a wee tipple. Would definitely recommend this place for families and large groups but also for a lovely romantic meal for two!
My husbands salad was ordered with haloumi, prawns and tofu. Prawns and tofu didn't arrive until end of the meal. My well done steak still very pink /red asked for Dianne sauce. Got jus instead. One place we will never return to. Chef needs a new job. Good wait staff. Shocking kitchen service. Lady on another table complained about her tough Octopus. Male wait staff said to her whats wrong octopus is always tough. He was so rude. You could hear him across the other side of the restaurant
Lovely setting and styling. Pub was busy and we didnt mind waiting but 2 (5 in total) of our party's food orders were forgotten. Staff offered free drinks for the table but we asked for a dessert instead for the 2 of us whose meals were forgotten.
My MEDIUM RARE scotch fillet steak ($38) was not only forgotten but when it finally arrived, it was cooked WELL DONE and tough. I didnt complain about steak as 3 of our party had long finished their meals and we thought we were getting 2 free desserts as compensation, we didnt want hold up our guests any longer.
Unfortunately, we still had to pay for dessert! Wish I had've complained about the steak now!
My lunch was $60 and will never go back!
We were planning on coming back 2 days later with another group for dinner but we went to the Birkenhead instead and had a much better and less expensive experience, with much better service!
Just a delightful place for a cold drink on a warm night. Big open windows and outdoor areas. Nice out of the rat race location.
The nice were nice and great to chat with, delicious food, good range of drinks and overall a lovely place for dinner, with friends or with your partner
It was a lovely time sharing memories of a beautiful lady gone but never forgotten. The food was lovely too?
Great to see this hotel back to it's former glory.
Staff are cheerful and attentive.
Food is fabulous. The chefs should be very proud.
We were very happy.
Beautiful atmosphere. It's a big thumbs up
Lovely birthday celebration for my mother's 100th.great local produce and they accommodated Mum's dietary needs by providing a special menu, good wine list too.
100% on what it used to be.
New tasteful decor.
Interesting menu. Everyone in my group enjoyed what they ordered.
Obliging staff and unlike before, plenty of them!
I FIND IT A PLEASENT ESTABLISHMENT ALL ROUND,
SO PAY THEM A VISIT IF YOU LIKE TO SOCIALIZE IN AN HOTEL ENVIRONMENT.
Dined here as a group of 10. My pasta was yummy enough without being outstanding and others in group didn't complain about food they had but a few said the chips were very ordinary. That's when the fun started after asking for the bill. A few guys paid cash for their drinks and some didn't which led to a bit of confusion on the final paying process. I was getting frustrated and so was the cashier as I was last one to pay. We go out a lot and paying up front for everything seems to be the easiest method by far.
Excellent meal.
Great service and very friendly staff. They were able to meet my special dietary needs.
Thank you we will be back
The food was excellent, the service impeccable, the surroundings warm and relaxed. Very reasonably priced and such a great venue for lunch or dinner. Mark The Maylands Hotel as a preferred place to gather with friends for a great dining experience.
Well done steak was blood red when served. Seafood platter was overpriced for a mostly potato salad. Side salad was missing in action. First and last time for me. Not good Maylands Hotel.
Has not really improved. It was an average night at best. Took over 90 minutes to receive the food orders. Not a particularly busy night. Food was average at best. Service slow seemed unorganised.
I had a lovely lunch with friends. The food was great and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Had a brilliant time at the maylands, staff were all wonderful and the meals we had were divine! Cannot recommend highly enough
Absolutely horrible! Was in a group of about 15, after ordering it took over an hour to bring out the food. You would think for such a long wait it would be good food, unfortunately not, everyones schnitzel had been defrosted and tasted soggy and dry and the same time with little flavour.we ordered cake and sang happy birthday and the cake went it to be cut, that Allso took nearly an hour.
