The Maylands Hotel reviews
64 This was a real treat. Lovely setting staff were excellent. Food was very good.
I've been here a few times since and it has never failed to please
OK, but need to address front bar being unattended for long periods of time therefore long wait for a drink
Shared prechristmas dinner with family lovely food. I enjoyed it. A little over generous with entre. Other than that food portions were good.
Great to see this hotel back to it's former glory.
Staff are cheerful and attentive.
Food is fabulous. The chefs should be very proud.
We were very happy.
Beautiful atmosphere. It's a big thumbs up
Visited two days ago.
You need to sort out your salads. Absolutely ridiculous to serve shredded cabbage. It's disgusting. Get it sorted out!
Lovely space with a really relaxed vibe. Food was delicious and enjoyed the selection of drinks.
Food and drinks were way over priced, especially wine by the glass.
Kangaroo meal overcooked, dry and cold. Creme Brulea was straight from the fridge with no topping. Will not hurry to return.
Dirty table, we had to ask for food stains to be wiped off. Home made garlic bread was doughy. The char grilled, medium to well done steaks were heavily burnt. I was told that was how they were. But burnt carbon causes cancer!
The restaurant is a little bit busier and louder than it was a couple of years ago. Meals were good and staff were friendly. I have been there twice when other people have sent back their food and staff are super apologetic and try to make up for the customers not being happy. Good place to eat.
This is a really comfortable suburban pub, off the main road and in the heart of the suburb of Maylands. The decore is well presented and the ambience is tranquil. It seems like lots of families enjoy coming to dine and associate with friends. I love it. Wish we had one like it on my side of town.
Disappointed with the pork belly, very dry. Thai beef salad had no dressing or Thai flavour. We sent both meals back and they kindly offer us an alternative. We ordered safe and the subsequent chicken schnitzels were tasty as was the accompanying salad.
Such a beautiful place, clean, fresh tasty food. Well done chefs xx
Wait staff were wonderful x
Ordered a Seafood platter extremely nice small piece of flathead two dry blackened cold prawns in three pieces a very small serving of calamari with three over cooked scallops a spoon full of cold mashed potato some dry sliced red and white cabbage with a couple of baby beetroot leaves and two fingers of baby cucumber hardly good value for $38
Definitely disappointing
Really don’t know why this place has any bad reviews. I am a regular at this pub and the food has always been fantastic! Been here more than 15X and the experience has ALWAYS been great. Service is consistently awesome. Dishes are always perfectly cooked!
Chicken Scnitty & Porchetta are always the superstars in their menu!
Look the beers on tap as well!
Loved this place so much that we celebrated two private bday parties here too! Both nights were catered superbly!
Over the years, a high level of service has been maintained. Lovely Quality across the board in food, drink &service. Regular decor upgrades make it Cost, intimate &sooo inviting.
A party of 30 of us attended for our elderly mothers birthday luncheon. The food was very nice although portion sizes were not overly generous. We brought a birthday cake. When it came time to bring it out, we were informed that it would cost $3.50 per head, (or $105 for 30 people) for the staff to cut and serve it on a plate with a spoon or fork. For the cake to be brought out and ourselves to cut and serve $1.50 per head x 30 = $45. As mother only lived two streets away, we opted to just take the cake home and have coffees there. So the Hotel lost maybe $90+ in coffee orders? Not that great when we had spent all that money on food and drinks!
As an aside, at our last family gathering at a great Italian sports & social club that serves Pizza & Pasta, on the Norwood Parade, we were given a complimentary bottle of tawny port at the end of the evening, with NO extra charge for cutting and serving a birthday cake. Sad that the Mayland's had to spoil what could have been a lovely lunch experience, with such a silly policy. If your planning to bring a cake be aware!
Nice area with a gas log fire. Staff were friendly but a little disorganised. Came to the table to take orders and then said she will be back in 5 minutes to take them. Food took an extremely long time to come out and the restaurant was not overly busy.
Lovely staff over the phone and in person. Very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent catering for my coeliac daughter and other food sensitivities. The meals were delicious. Thank you!
What a beautiful little hidden gem.
Our meal was lovely and the vanilla bean dessert was delicious.would definitely return
Awesome place. In Adelaide their are areas that have great places to eat this is one of them I traveled from northern Adelaide because this is not an area with good food!
Terrible food. $38 of disgusting unbelivably overcooked seafood platter cant understand how they are operating serving food like this. Not one star do not bother. One star for service as the lad gave bottle of wine foid was so bad
