The Colonist reviews
73We usually go every week.we call it gin o'clock.last few times service has been off and disappointing. Food has also slipped we always have cheese plate and a few sides. But as of the last couple of times standards seemed to have gone down hill. We will give it a miss for a month or two.sorry guys
The decor is fantastically rustic and the service was great. However, the food is expensive for what you get, but satisfying and the same goes for drinks.
We have been to the colonist Hotel several times for coffee and that is lovely But yesterday we decided to leave for our specialist appointment early and have Lunch. We were shocked at the prices with no discount for seniors.but decided We made the effort so ordered Fish and chips $26.00 each.it was menued as Butterfish, Slaw and Tartare. When it arrived over cooked Fish and Chips stuck together we ordered crumbed and it was all deep fried fish thin and very curled up Slaw was nothing but mixed green lettuces in its own small bowl on the plate Tartare was in same size dish plentiful but something missing in it probably no Gurkin
We were very disapointed. Service was excellent venue nice and cosy We will go back for coffee but never eat there again.
Very busy on a Friday evening got. Sat outside. A bit chilly no heaters on. Food was well cooked and the chicken schnitzels and chicken parmigana were very tasty. The grilled fish was cooked well and the salad was fresh.
Good range of drinks, great service, quality food and a very enjoyable place to meet with friends. Highly recommend the hotel.
Great spot for a pint or 11 smd a feed and one of the last pubs on the parade with any soul or character.
Always great atmosphere and staff. Happy hour is great! There is a decent selection of wine, craft spirits and craft beer. The Colonist is a very relaxed atmosphere.
Had a relaxed afternoon, fun interesting decor, beautifully cooked meal and great service. Thanks for a nice afternoon
We had two of the specials today, poke bowl and pizza, both magnificent! Bit stiff getting charged $2 for parmesan cheese for my pizza, but what are you gonna do, 1 star worth $2?
This is my local and have been coming here ever since I moved to Norwood. Great vibe, open fire, inside and outdoor seating. Great menu that caters for all dietary requirements with an ever changing specials board. Supporting local SA brewers, distillers and winemakers with a heavy emphasis on SA based producers.
The colonist was a nice looking place, although the drink specials apparently finish at 3pm (who drinks that early?) There was no cocktail menu which was okay I generally have the cocktail and recipe on my phone but the server had a very nice violet gin and tonic recipe they offered us because it was one of his favourites.
This place is nice and the staff works with you to get what your after. The only reason I went with 4 stars is because there was no cocktail menu and the server (while nice and funny) did bring up having to kick us out if we drank to much.
This is obvious and didn't need exclaiming so after our violet gin and tonic we left and walked to the next bar.
Made reservation and popped in for Friday night meal in the dining room. Place was buzzing with people in the various other bar areas and gaming room. Enjoyed prawn and crab linguine which was delicious. Highly recommend this meal. The staff were great and meals came out promptly. If you are after a quiet Friday night spot, this place is not for you. However for a casual dining experience, it was great.
Simply the best service by everyone and great atmosphere. Food generous and delicious, It's one of Adelaide's best hotels any time of the day.
Mediocre schnitzel and garlic bread, but great service, decor and drink selection. Also the staff were quite nice and very helpful. If I was just coming here for a few drinks I think it would have been a 4 star rating. Definitely worth checking out, even if the food I chose was average.
Love the great food.n staff good wholesome friendly bunch of guys. Love their brekky menus.this place is a keeper
Great location very caring staff the good was very tasty and fresh prompt service and congenial atmosphere.
The meal was ok. Had to ask twice for water. And the place was packed, especially in the bar. Not sure how COVID-19 Social Distancing restrictions were adheared to in this instance!? Also very noisy, (even in dining area) so having a conversation was difficult!
Great local pub with quality food and beverage selections.love the fire place on a cold rainy day and equally sitting in the cool shade on a hot summers day
Food was great and the service was like a 5 star restaurant! Good selection of local beers too, highly recommend!
Beautifully decorated historical old Adelaide hotel. Friendly staff & delicious food with sweets to die for
