The Cafe 1839

Stopped in here for a spontaneous lunch yesterday and was probably the best meal I've had all year! Had the veggie burger and it was incredible. Super tasty, and just all round amazing, couldn't make better myself.
Also, the chai latte I had deserves it's own praise as it was literally the best chai I have ever had, and I almost bought a second. The friend I was with 1000% agrees with me as well as we both had one.
Can't fault anything, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful as well! (grabbed us blankets because outside was cold)
Definitely coming back, this is definitely my favourite place in Hahndorf now!:)

We drove to up from Adelaide, found this cosy cafe and ordered our lunch. It was busy so our food took a little longer to prepare but it was worth the wait. The burgers were fresh and delicious! Great menu to chose from. Will be back next time we visit!

There are so many good things I have to say about this cafe, that I am not sure if I am able to fit it in this review. The cafe is in a niche little spot under some trees and grape vines along the Main Road of Hahndorf, it makes it a very cosy spot to have breakfast or lunch.
The owner and the staff are extremely friendly.
The ingredients they use are locally sourced in their meals, and everything is prepared freshly in the kitchen.
Their coffees are world class, it would feel like as if you're in Italy.
The 1839 Burger is a dish that I reccomend anyone to come in and order at lunch. Guaranteed the best one in Australia!
All their dishes are of a high standard though, The 1839 Burger is just my favourite!

This is a perfect spot for breakfast and lunch, if you're looking to sit back and relax and wait for a good cooked meal and coffee, made with love.

Poor customer service, the waitress was not very friendly, took 30 minutes to bring our food and missed one of the orders. They did not apologize for missing the order.

Superb service and fantastic atmosphere. We had a great time. Loved the coffee and soy chai latte. I can highly recommend this Café in Hahndorf.

Highly recommended brunch venue. Coffee is fantastic. The haloumi, ago & egg burger was everything I hoped for, absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is very pleasant, a great old building with leafy vines this time of year. Service was great and very friendly.

What a lovely Cafe! We drove through Hahndorf and called in for breakfast and a coffee. The staff were polite and friendly and the service fantastic. Our breakfast was delicious as was the coffee and great value! Very relaxing atmosphere. We will definitely come back to Hahndorf for another visit.

Absolutely amazing flavoursome food and coffee. Great setting too. Staff were so friendly and welcoming. Cant recommend this place enough!

I came and visited here 2 weeks ago on a Saturday morning for breakfast with my partner and pug, the staff were very friendly, the food was quick and very yummy (Eggs Benedict), they made my pug feel very welcome which I absolutely love because I am a huge dog person and love taking him out with us for coffee. We will definitely return next time we are in Hahndorf! Thank you for the good experience and food!

The coffee and hot chocolate was pretty good, but the service was horrible. We walked in and the waitress was rude and abrupt. The barista was the same. When cleaning our table she took our plates without asking and gave us service without a smile. Not coming again

Food was great, though they were a little overwhelmed by the Easter Sunday rush. Great service and good atmosphere.

This coffee shop is a must. The owner and barista always make you feel welcome and serves great coffee and food. With loads of other coffee places around here this is the best.

Cafe 1839 on the Main Street of Hahndorf is delightful retro fitted, modern Main Street Cafe. Good lunch menu, at affordable prices. Friendly staff, with good service. I enjoyed the visit along with a good coffee. The venue was busy, tourists with a good eye for value.

Stopped for lunch on a quiet Thursday. Ordered crumbed whiting with salad and a steak burger. Both meals were excellent. Coffees (flat white) were also very good. Service was extremely pleasant and efficient. We enjoyed the food and service so much we lingered over a second coffee in the comfortable surrounds, as we watched people pass by. Highly recommended.

A down-to-earth café with great food and excellent value, especially compared to some of the large restaurants nearby. Service was very good, too.

Stopped over here for a quick bite after walking around, and we found this cute establishment. They make coffee, burgers and toasts. The toast tasted great. The staff are super friendly! Definitely worth a visit
