Amazing food. Basically inhaled it! Unfortunately, the barista was obnoxiously loud and was discussing swearing with the wait staff (with customers and a baby within earshot) which seemed really unprofessional. Didn't ruin the experience, but I understand why the other diners were outside. The coffee was also quite unpleasant. Will be having tea next time. Even still, the food was great and we will be coming back!

Lovely area with great service! Such a cute spot with blankets to stay warm, very tasty coffee and a yummy breakfast. Perfect cafe in a perfect town!

We went here for a birthday party and the staff were more than happy when we made reservations and even stored our cake for us! It was a bit of a chilly day too, but they provided blankets to keep us warm and cosy! Thank you for making it a memorable day

Fantastic food, fantastic service. Ate breakfast here both mornings we were in Hanhdorf. Recommend 100%.

Arrived at 12h, we been refused because kitchen was not ready at 12: 00 today, but when you look outside all tables was already served! It’s abnormal on public holiday to be not ready at lunch time! Despite we saw a lot of empty tables they asking us to wait under further notice.

Shame on the customer service!

AMAZING food, AMAZING service, AMAZING coffee! Best Dirty Chai I’ve had! Can not recommend enough. Our group of 7 went for breakfast two days in a row and the (I’m guessing owner) remembered our food and drink orders, including the extras and dietary requirements! Can’t wait to come back)

This lovely cafe is situated on the main road in Hahndorf. Nice cafe ambiance with friendly staff. Items offered here are good with reasonable pricing. The only negative was the momos, even though the filling was delicious.the skin was a bit tough. This can definitely be improved. The gumbo was rich in flavour and tasty. One of the best I've ever tasted. The coffees here are excellent. Nice place to chill and see the people walk by.

The waffles were WAY too sweet, to a point where they were inedible, they had granules of crunchy sugar throughout.and I love sweet things! Then soaked in syrup.
The ciabatta mushroom thing didn’t even have salt or pepper, or any seasoning, and WAYYY too much oil. The iced latte was massive and had so much milk in it. All fairly priced though.
However the atmosphere was beautiful, and the waitresses were so lovely and the man (owner?) was also so nice and friendly.

Amazing and friendly service! The haloumi, avo and egg on a Turkish roll was absolutely the BEST thing I’ve ever tasted!

Poor hygiene practices. Found an earwig (insect) in my straw then checked the straws and found them left on the front counter in open air in a jar. The table also had shared sugar in a container. Quite honestly if the cafe management hasn't even considered basic hygiene in the middle of a global pandemic, there isn't much else to say. Investing in a basic straw dispenser (or pre-wrapped straws) and also some pre-packaged sugar would be a necessary first step. Otherwise food and service were reasonable. Hope this feedback can be used for change.

Café 1839 is truly the perfect place to go if you need a quick breakfast, morning coffee or a nice lunch. Quick service, very hospitable staff and cleanliness was maintained. I know that I will not be the only one going back there often. The sitting area inside is not spacious but the delicious food items definitely make up for it. Undoubtedly an excellent little spot for brunch.
