Thai Orchid Restaurant

One of my favourite Thai Restaurants in Adelaide. Have been going there since I was a kid, and they still recognise me. Can be a bit crowded and food can be pricey, but the food and service are more than worth it.

Normally love this place but experienced the rudest service today. Ordered 5 Mocktails for $60 for the kids… received some sour ice tea with soda water on top…. Obviously none of the kids would touch it and after asking the waiter if we could change or modify them he basically said yep you just have to spend another $60. After speaking with the manager she said we ordered a non alcoholic drink and that’s what we got so bad luck. Really disappointing and rude service.

Unfortunately, the value-for-money of the food has finished over the years, which is disappointing, as it used to be much better.

I just had to leave a review for the AWESOME crew at Thai Orchid. I cant speak highly enough of the yummy food (which always comes out quick) and the fabulous service last time from Julia and Alicia and the wonderful young gentleman who found credit card which i misplaced when changing tables!

Fabulous food - can't fault it. Fabulous service. Loved every part of our dinner here. Prices are reasonable. $134 fir 3 main courses, 2 plain rice, 1 glass wine, 2 JD & cokes Definitely come back here

I am writing this review while waiting for the last hour for my mine dish. I have asked three staff members about the delay in our order and they were saying ‘ because you ordered an entree! ’.
So here you go folks, next time you go there don’t order an entree if you’re hungry because your appetite will increase and wait forever for the main dish.

We dine in and get take away on a regular basis, some times with family and other times with friends. I have tried other restaurants that make similar dishes and no one else seems to close with the food or service and they are accommodating when it comes different diets.

Bad experience for the first time and give it another change last Easter Monday. We came there with 9 adults and I was surprised with the prices compared to quality of food we ordered.

All entrees like spring rolls, pandan chicken and crispy prawns was nothing special

Mains we had
Chicken laksa nearly bland
Choo chee barramundi taste like coconut cream and sugar
Ginger barramundi was okay but not great
Pad Thai was very bland and looks pale
Thai beef salad was like sliced beef on iceberg salad with weak dressing
Drunken duck was good but just have 3 sliced duck breast in each portion
Tom yum was lack of seasoning just taste like lemon grass
Pineapple fried rice was below average as the rice was nearly off

Dessert we had black sticky rice with coconut ice cream which good to end unpleasant experiences

Note: we don't mind for quite pricey food but at least quality is good or taste good.

I love Thai cuisine, but this was disappointing. Well rated restaurant, yet the food just wasn't good. I really tried, and I usually find something nice about every dish but I couldn't like this at all.

Overall: Curries tasted pre-made and very sweet to the point of being unpleasant, tasted bland, and no balance of flavours.

Ordered ginger chicken, Thai orchid fritters, choo chee prawn and coconut rice. The fritters were decent but a bit overcooked. Choo chee prawns, I could only eat two prawns - overwhelmingly sweet gravy, lacked flavour, tasted like a box mix for a dish I paid $35+ for. The coconut rice had no depth of flavour. Tasted like steamed rice with coconut milked stirred in.

I hope this was a once off bad experience. Otherwise, the rating and the reviews are misleading.

A nice Thai restaurant with a beautiful view of Henley Beach. It has been there for quite long time and we just love it. Had meals there quite often. We tried lots of different dishes and most of them are tasty with reasonable price. Highly recommended if you are in Henley Beach.

As a part of my Sperm Donation Australia tour of South Australia, decided to stop in here to admire the views great peaceful place.

Been here twice in 3 weeks, absolutely beautiful food, service great, could not ask for more. Lovely staff. Do yourself a favour and come here!

Have been going to T. O.for a long time now. First time I went was 20 years ago. Still the same, great atmosphere and wonderful staff. Food is amazing and always is. Fantastic Thai and Cambodian dishes Love it

Great Thai restaurant to eat in Henley Beach. The food price is in the higher end compared to other Thai restaurants. But the food served is still very good. The location is perfect, and if you get the windows seat, then you will be enjoying the meal with a great view. There are plenty of parking spaces if the weather is not too warm.

When I saw that they serve Piña Coladas, I had to visit this place!
Overall, I had a good experience.
The food was served reasonably quickly. My vegetarian option had lots of tofu in it. The portions were just right.
Yummy, however a bit overpriced.
The drink was a bit overbearing though. Yes, Piña Coladas are meant to be sweet/rich, but what I had was a bit too much.

I came here for dinner with my best friend and his family.
The food was served really quickly.
The food was delicious. And a good serving so you don't leave hungry.
There was a substantial selection of food and beverages.
The staff were friendly and polite.
Was really nice sitting outside in the fresh air and watching the sun go down.
I truly recommend trying this restaurant you won't regret it.

It was a busy Friday night and we were at a table out the front having a few drinks and decided we needed to eat. The full menu was available. Even though it was busy the food came out fast and it was hot. The serves are generous and the food was delicious. Friendly service.

A bit pricey if you’re looking a good Thai food place. Quick serving, but not really tasty Beef Pad Se Ew and Mojito is so sweet.

We had the beef massaman and choo chee prawns both bloody amazing and will be going back for more we haven’t stopped raving about it since we left. Highly recommend
