Ruby Raja Indian Restaurant reviews
64Eat ALL of the entrees as share plates - what a banquet! Delish! That overcomes the problem with pricey mains.
Not sure its quiet the same quality since change of management. More expensive & curry plate has been downsized dramatically
Always had a curry plate in the past with naan bread and tandoori chicken on the plate. Under new ownership they’ve gone. Staff great.
Chicken tindaloo will blow your head off if you're not ready
Lovely experience here, nice beers to cool your tongue too.
It’s been a while since I’ve been here, but I can still taste every single spice that was in the tindaloo I ordered. Best curry I have ever had in Adelaide, and I have been to the Jasmin a few times. Service was excellent, food was excellent, atmosphere was excellent. All in all it was excellent.
Two stars because the entree was nice. The main, (Chicken tikka masala), did not taste Indian at all. Rather just very salty. There is a beef korma on the menu, and I asked for a lamb korma. The server advised it was not possible as the dishes were PRE-MADE! They made me a replacement dish, (Butter chicken). It neither looked or tasted like any Butter chicken I have ever had before. It tasted exactly like the first dish, to be honest. I could not eat that dish either. I would not recommend. They charge Jasmin prices for dodgy take-away quality.
Fantastic! We had Ruby Chicken, Lamb Saag Gosh and Hales Sabji. Everything was so fresh and flavoursome. Definitely going back and possibly having the same again.
Under new management. Food tastes great but sizes of main meals reduced at least by 20 percent. Ruby prawns used to have 12, last night only 7. Barely any chicken in butter chicken, all sauce. Felt ripped off. Won't be back, better value and as good quality on the Parade.
We used to go to Ruby Raja all the time for the banquet for two under the previous owners. We went last night and noticed that it was under 'New Management". We were surprised that it was a Saturday night and only half full as under the previous owners you had to book a week ahead on a Saturday night. We ordered the banquet and the entree came out. It was nice but very small. The mains then came out and it was basically one small bowl of rice which was only enough for one person and three small bowls of curry (two meat and one vegetarian) with only a very tiny amount of meat or vegetables that were swimming around in a lot of sauce in each bowl. They were basically just bowls of sauce - (did they think we wouldn't notice the lack of meat or vegetables) ? We also had a few pieces of naan bread and one scoop of icecream for dessert. The food was okay but bland and nothing special (with gluggy rice) and definitely not BANQUET size for two people especially when you consider what it used to be under the previous owners. The service was also appalling. We had to wait for ever to get our drinks and a huge wait between each course which was surprising given the fact the place was only half full and there were a lot of waiting staff. My advice is that if you want wonderful tasting Indian food, good value for money and excellent service go elsewhere because you won't get it here!
Under new management meals have reduced in size 20 min to get served food was just warm obviously reheated in microwave red wine was hot
Went here tonight and had the most wonderful experience. Staff were excellent. There was this handsome young waiter who told us it was his last night because he finished medical school this week. Sad that he is leaving and big shoes to fill for whoever replaces him.
My wife and I always get the takeaway banquet, we’re both big eaters and always have leftovers for lunch the next day. Each dish is delicious and the best Indian in Adelaide. Having dined in a few times the dining area is nice; however we enjoy our experience most from home.
Always great food, wine and service. The banquet is my favourite, great way to experience the delicious food at Ruby Raja.
Got a takeaway from here last night was overcharged not by much but was, portions tiny and overpriced, food was nice but what we ordered just about fed us due to the portion sizes, have to say we live down the road and like to support local but we wont be going back far to expensive and not enough food.very disappointed
Nice place.but food lacks flavor.ordered the raja platter for entree, samosa was small and mostly pastry.mains ordered 4 mains lacking flavor and mixed naan bread.well it was mixed naan bread couldnt tell which were cheese, plain or garlic the waitress couldnt even tell.very doughy naan not cooked enough.wouldnt recommend this place and wont be eating there again.
Disappointed. A rabbit's warren of small pokie rooms that get crowded and noisy. Food was OK but expensive for what it was. I have had better.
Food and service is good. Has a good selection of wines. It’s become a regular place to have a good meal with friends.
Food was to die for. Excellent service and the food was served very quickly. Highly recommended.
Great food, friendly staff and they have separate rooms for groups so you can make noise and not disturb other patrons.
