Red Ochre Grill reviews
72 Beautiful view. Romantic dinner for 2.
I love the cocktail very well blend mixture. Choose fix menu $75pp food only and it does fill you up. Was too full to finish the desert. Everything was good I gave 3 star because my main beef fillet very dry on the side and doesn't have lot of sauce on the beef. Not alot option to choose from menu. They didnt put effect on the beef plate. Food at river cafe down stair is better. Overall I recommended this place for those who don't want to pay more then $75 pp
Group menu has very limited choices. Staff not willing to give an alternative menu option.
Staff stated disposable mask selling at $5 each while the have a written document of them selling mask at $1.10 each.
Seems to be under new management. Dysfunctional service. Been here before and the food or service was good but unfortunately it has changed, not in a good way. The wine bottle was just dumped on the table, it wasn't opened and served.
Very poor experience at Red Ochre. Food was very average. We both had porterhouse steak which was paper thin and very overcooked. Not sure if this restaurant has changed hands as we've eaten here many times and have always had great food. Very disappointing go somewhere else!
Had a very nice dinner. The steak was great. Very fresh and perfectly cooked. Restaurant seemed very quiet for a Friday nite. Couldn’t fault the food or the atmosphere.
Great view, decent entrees but the mains are below average. For this price point i would expect more. Attentive service, maybe a little too attentive for my liking.
The location is great but the place needs some reno, the decor is outdated. Carpet doesn’t look clean and toilets are not clean throughly. Probably won’t be back.
The red ochre is a sensational place to have a meal. The food was excellent and the staff were warm and friendly and eager to please. The view is one of a kind just like this place. Will be back for sure.
Service great especially Rob one of our waiters and food was amazing
Definately go back again
The flavours of the food were amaaazing! The service was great, they cater very well to dietary restrictions even when it is difficult to do so, I cant wait to go back! Such a wonderful experience.
Firstly, the view at the Red Ochre is sensational - looking across the water to the city lights. Then the service was great from start to finish. Finally the food topped off the event. We had a limited menu for very reasonable cost. The triple taste entree we all had was an impressive start. For main my kangaroo fillet was the best I've had. Delicious sauce and served with shredded beetroot and on a bed of something.which I may not remember the name of but which was also delish. All in all a first class experience.
The food and service is excellent and really couldn’t be faulted.compliments to the chef/s & staff! The only disappointing thing and the reason it didn’t receive 5 stars is because the state of the external building is terrible. I last visited over 20 years ago and it looks like it hasn’t been cleaned or updated since. You can’t NOT have a 1st impression and for new customers including interstate visitors, it’s not a good one. As a minimum pressure wash the building & clean up the waterfall.the owner of the building should be ashamed of themselves and Red Ochre need to scrub the balcony so the dirty ground & rails are not viewed from the tables
It’s almost Valentines Day! This place is a must! Amazing place to wine and dine. The FOV is fantastic! Loved this place. Will come back again! Offers fabulous seasonal Modern Australian clean cuisine. The best in Adelaide overlooking the Torrens River at night time. Romantic feel to the evening ️
AMAZING service! Above and beyond!
Went to an event here with predetermined canapés chosen by the third party host. Due to food allergies I couldn’t have the canapés chosen. The wait staff went above and beyond and brought me a separate plate with some canapés that I could eat. They did not have to, but they did anyway and it made my night! Thank you so much! We will be back!
Very average should train staff to be more on the case 2 course $60.00 should not have mix ups Still have not got my entree yet when question about it was offered free coffee not good, young waitress trying hard to please
Extremely dissapointing. Ordered a 3 course dinner for $75pp and I do not have a positive point regarding food or service. My partner and I waited 45 minutes between meals whilst the entree and main were nothing more than unsatisfactory. The entree 'pork belly' was soggy and plain. After waiting 45 minutes, the main was a small cut of porthouse steak on dry mashed potato. After waiting another 40 minutes we were still waiting for our dinner plates to get cleaned up. In the end we decided to pay for the 2 course meal instead of 3 course and left. In total the bill came to an obsurd $165 for mediocre food and extremely poor service. At the time of payment we explained our experience and why we are dissapointed in the service, for which we did not even receive an apology.
I am truly saddened writing this review but by some small measure i hope it will help them save their business.
My wife and I have dined at the Red ochre several times previously and have loved it.
Unfortunately some more recent decisions by management have made for a dissapointing night out.
Excited for our first kid free outing in six months we were confident in choosing the Red ochre from our options in the Entertainment book.
I understand covid has caused additional challenges for some businesses but the shortcomings here are too disappointing to ignor.
The menu is drastically restricted.
You have to choose up front if your having 2 courses per person or 3? Unnecessary!
The croc entree was literaly an hors d'oeuvres and lacking inspiration. The mains were well executed but the duck pappardelle was the size of an entree. The side dish was a handfull of McCain's fries with Aoli. The desert was lacking in both size and expertise. The service was friendly but inexperienced and unconfident.
On top of all this when paying the check we were told they would not honour the Entertainment book voucher! Which we pay for and they benefit from being advertised in! This was one of the main reasons we chose them on this occasion in the first place.
Please get your act together Red ochre.
We booked online and also left a message to ask for a callback which did not happen. Food and service was good however when we presented our Entertainment Book they advised that they would not honour their voucher. There was nothing on their website or on their door/premises to indicate that they had withdrawn their offer. Unfortunately this left us with a bad taste in our mouths. In response to your reply, we requested a "callback" on your answering machine but the real issue is the fact that you failed to advise that you that you had withdrawn from the Entertainment Book. If you remedy that diners are unlikely to feel duped.
The location of the restaurant is perfect, great atmosphere with a great view. However, the venue may need a little renovation. As the bathroom didn't seem at standard, as we were booked at opening, the bathroom floor had toilet paper on the ground and water leaking on the floor that would need some attention too. All the staff were friendly, professional and assisted with anything needed. Just some tiny constructive feedback with maybe organisational part needs improvement. Example have one waiter/s only focusing on a few tables. As various different workers came to us asking how the food was three times for the same meal. Maybe only ask once picking up the plates as a suggestion:). When going to a restaurant paying $80 for a 3 course meal, we expect dishes to be better then the average. I would definitely say the main was average but nothing special, kinda a let down. However, on a great note loved my entree which had great inspiration for indigenous foods where as partner thought his was average for his octopus entree. The pavlova dessert was definitely exceptional unique, tasty and creative. It was definitely being equal or even better in my opinion comparing it to 2 Hatted Bennelong, Sydney restaurant Pavlova dessert. Overall, it was a lovely dinner experience!
Delicious food all tho in house menu differed from online menu, super helpful friendly staff, portion size was good, didnt look like there was alot but was so full by the end of the 3 courses. We did have to move seats due to the roof leaking in the rain but this didnt effect the night much at all due to friendly service
No worth the money!
Very dated venue. Food potions tiny and not very tasty. Service didn't reflect price.
