Absolutely amazing place for excellent quality food. Amazing views. Music was a bit tacky tho.

Service was very poor. We waited over 15 mins to get our first drinks. The entrees were not great, very dry and not exciting. My steak was cooked well but my partners' steak that was ordered medium was less than medium rare.
Quite disappointing.
Was told the view was amazing but the windows were so extremely dirty it took away from the ambience.
Overall, disappointed with service and food, would rather have travelled to the Hills for better service and better views. We waited so long for drinks and table clearing. As it stands, not worth another visit.

Unfortunately the overall experience at Red Ochre has gone down hill!
It used to be a place to go when you wanted semi fine dining… the pricing is high and the food was poor!
Both the pork belly and sirloin steak was over cooked! $80plus wasted!

I’d also suggest having wait staff who are easier to understand- we had a lady who was wearing a mask, softly spoken and with a thick accent….

Multiple errors in our orders were made due to this.

Unlikely to be back and wouldn’t recommend to anyone going

I have visited many restaurants and this takes the absolute zero. For a restaurant like that which supposedly offers semi fine dining, I expected the food to atleast at the worst taste like a Cafe food. The chefs need to understand that flavour is different from making a food salty. Everything served was either too salty or too oily. And don't even get me started on the plating! A food should be plated in a way that makes it appetising to eat and not the other way round. And the food all tasted microwaved and not fresh!

Food, wine and view was great. At the end of the night (around 9.30)! Staff began setting tables for the next day, turned all lights on and brought our bill without being asked. We would have ordered another bottle of wine given the opportunity. Disappointing end to an otherwise lovely evening.

Yum! Very delicious food. We had the tasting menu and loved every dish! The portions were large and the ingredients were fresh!

I've visited the red ochre a few times over the last 20+ years. I always really enjoy the experience, though this time I was a little disappointed. I felt that the portions were a little too small for the price. The kangaroo portion was very small and consisted of pieces, rather than a steak. The barramundi was a also a quite most piece and not as flavorful as I hoped. The serving sizes were a bit inconsistent (some members of our party got somewhat more generous servings than others). I feel that at a restaurant like the red ochre, you shouldn't be relying on French fries to fill you up. They were tasty though, as were the mashed potatoes.

The desert was excellent, however. Everyone enjoyed those.

Overall, we spent close to AUD$70 per head, 8 people (including a nice bottle of red).

I was entering the southern end of Light Square at 9.45am on 20/7/22 when a Red Ochre motor vehicle drove into the bike lane right in front of me and I had to brake to avoid the vehicle. When I was passing the Red Ochre restaurant a few minutes later, I saw the driver and asked him to stay out of bike lanes and not cut off cyclists. He was extremely abusive and used incredibly foul language. I was polite the whole time and I certainly did not deserve his abuse. I won't be going to the restaurant again because the staff should respect people regardless of whether the restaurant is open or closed.

This is definitely not a false review and does not follow any pattern. How dare you imply I lied. To have staff representing your business driving so unsafely is bad for your business' name where safety is so important.

I had scallops for entree. And steak for main. OMG the mash potato wicked good.
Service was fantastic, meal was yummy yummy. Oh yes view looking out over the river was very good. Trying to impress a lady it's a good option.

Steak was not cooked to the asked for doneness, quality of steak was not great either, atmosphere was really nice with friendly staff but the quality of food was a bit disappointing

This was the second time we've had dinner here and both times the meals were very nice. I love the touches of native foods that they add to their dishes.

My husband and I always come here for special occasions especially for the kangaroo dish. Unfortunately the last few times haven’t been the best experience with the food. We dined here last night for our anniversary and I was excited to see the kangaroo back on the menu. Unfortunately my kangaroo was over cooked. I asked for rare as it should be and I got medium to well done. I couldn’t eat the well done part. My dessert come out and as I was eating it I ate some of the baking paper left on the mousse cake. I did say something to the waitress after I showed her and she did apologise. Not sure if she let the chef know. When you go out and spend $195 at a restaurant you do expect to get quality food so its rather disappointing when it doesn’t meet your expectations. We probably won’t be back again which is disappointing because it was always my favourite place to have dinner. I can never fault the wait staff though always friendly and prompt with table serves.

The most I’ve ever paid for mediocre food. Valentine’s Day ‘prefixed’ menu, took 45 minutes for every course. Everything was bland and flavourless. The lamb was so overcooked it was inedible. Dessert was ok. Then we tried to use our $100 worth of gift cards, but the machine was conveniently not working. Spent $300 on a dinner I could have had at a pub. Not remotely worth the money.

A great dining experience. Waiters were the right amount of attentive. Serving size is larger than expected and the food quality is appropriate for the price.

Gone seriously downhill in the last few years. This used to be our favourite 4 star dining experience, but now the service is slow, bad, and they have paper tablecloths now. Won't be back for a while

The setting, lighting and presentation of food was great. The execution of the food not so. The waiting staff, although very friendly, appeared overwhelmed and focused more on getting dishes out rather than drink service and couldn't answer questions about dishes.
Feed me menu, actually thought the waiter said we got served scallops and brisket, but from the menu perhaps it was crocodile and kangaroo? And the barramundi, while good, was served skin side up but no crisp at all (nor to pork belly). Mousse with a marshmallow top? Not sure. Portions are very large, excessive even for the price. All in all it was a bit of an odd experience, not saying it was horrible but certainly has changed.

Great food. Had breakfast a couple of times. Need a quick breakfast before a tour, delivered and eaten in time! Lovely staff, good pizzas, menu has a great offering.
