Peel St reviews
87Fantastic food. Generous serves and excellent quality, fresh ingredients. Often the dishes have a little twist of flavor which makes this a great place to keep coming back to. Perfect for sharing with a group to taste as many dishes as possible!
Had lunch here after reading great reviews. The quality and value was good with generous servings. We had an issue with the menu though. There were half a dozen options for small and larger plates, which was fine. But the descriptions in the menu didn't describe what actually arrived very well. Each item on the menu had a two line blurb on the content - but what we got was not what we were expecting.
Quote;
"Banana blossom shredded chicken and chilli jam with peanuts, limeleaf and lemon grass"
What arrived was essentially a top quality salad, which had a large amount of coriander - which I don't like at all. If you are going to include an ingredient as potent and overpowering as coriander, you need to add it in the description - especially if the description is as "detailed" as most of them were.
We also ordered lamb and dill meatballs - the dill was so strong it was all I could taste 4 hours later.
The menu also featured next to no carbs - rice, pasta and vegetables seemed mostly absent. It was mostly a lot of over complicated salads with too many different strong ingredients to be enjoyable.
The place itself was good, as was the service.
A lot a people like it, but it wasn't for us.
Superb tasty, colourful meal and good value. Vietnamese beef was extraordinarily good. Sit at the bar and watch possibly the calmest chef in the world prepare dozens of exquisite meals.
Food is lovely, but they're playing on being fashionable to overcharge on both food and wine
The seating arrangement for groups is also just adequate, certainly not comfortable.
People rave about this place and now I see why. Great ambience and friendly service coupled with interesting cuisine that tastes really good. Will come back again.
Fabulous atmosphere and it was a Thursday night! All restaurants and bars collaborating to endulge customers in the one alleyway.
Ive been to Peel st before however they have changed the menu and it is even better. The flavours are wonderful. Middle eastern for a number of dishes are wonderfully balanced and so delightful. 2 smalls and 2 large for 5 at lunch was wonderful. Wine options very nice, i shared a touriga national.yumm.
Peel st before was great now it is sublime
