Opal Inn Hotel Motel Caravan Park reviews
63The staff were very friendly and were happy to "chat" with me and gave me advice on what to see and do in the area.
Disappointing. The camp bbq was covered with 5mm of dust. My sullage pit was blocked. We had a powered site and set up the van only to realise there was no water at the site. You had to fill your water tanks near the entrance.
The room has NO hot water for shower like others said and NO microwave in motel room. Reception always unattended. Reception is closing earlier than before @ 6pm and the woman of reception on Monday did check-out was very rude to me as always. She was telling me to bar me from staying in Opal Inn. She should NOT work in motel service industry even with her bad manner and being rude to customers. She will NOT give me her name. I also don't know where I can complaint about her manner even I was local. Opal Inn was SOLD to another listing Company on stick market I heard.
I camped in a tent. Neighbours car got broken into.by the locals we assumed. Another was followed from the hotel back to his caravan. Needs more lighting for security.
If you need a bowl of spaghetti bolognese just after the kitchen is closed, cooked with love and haste by one of the greatest outback cooks of all time, then look no further. The chef had somewhere to be, but he went the big lift. He saw two weary, hungry boys and he wasn’t knocking off until they were satisfied.
What he lacked in hot plates, he made up for with a complimentary garlic bread.
He truely is the shiniest opal in this god forsaken place.
We overnight stayed here twice to and from our Darwin to Adelaide road trip. Spacious comfortable rooms with the convenience of the restaurant and tavern within the same premises.
Powered camp siteout back. No code for toilet no code for shower no available water coin bowser did not work untidy rundown camp referring only to camp site
Very OLD an run down rooms, wouldn't stay there again. Stains on carpet an bedding. Didn't want to put my head on the pillow incase something came out.
Got mobbed out the front by the locals as the rooms are set near the local pub an drive through bottle shop.
Definitely stay somewhere else.
Caravan park dismal n badly needs an upgrade. The toilets/showers were old but kept clean. Laundry had 1 working machine, other 3 were out of order. No recycle bins. No dog poo bags either. Water machine not working and no water points in park for caravans. Staff in reception nice. Park handy for walking
into town. Several sites completely waterlogged post rain!
Caravan park is run down no security in park
Lots drunks outside the pub of night and of day would no recommend this Caravan park
Had dinner here. Ordered a bowl of onion rings, it came with 4 rings. Outback Parma was also missing half its toppings. Not worth $86 for 2 people.
I had a powered site in the caravan park
Good points close to town centre walking distance to most of Coober Pedy attractions
Bad points- toilet block needs renovating all very dated and uninviting tiles are a awlful pink colour and unpleasant looking
Had two showers there, one was warm the other was cold, heard other people complaining about cold showers
Coin in the slot to fill the van with water
The room stunk of mould which played on my asthma, the furniture and carpet was filthy, the ceiling had holes in it and was falling down. Stay somewhere else this place is shocking
Caravan park is in need of quite a bit of TLC - I hope that the new owners are planning to resurrect issues to make it a more enjoyable stay for others.
The park has really good wifi and is in a good location close to town, although, showers without locks, cold showers, powered site hook up poles not working, direction map missing campsites and below ordinary food in the bistro left us a touch disheartened.
We camped here and have no complaints, other than the water in the shared toilet blocks was only lukewarm. The staff was super warm, friendly and welcoming and we felt comfortable and safe.
Ah, it's a safe clean and secure place but tired in decor and comfort. Needs an upgrade. Staff wonderful though and super food and ales the bistro attached
Great Park, close to everything, walking distance.
Just need to ensure you have water for the stay.
Some sites are tight to get into.
Friendly staff & great check in.
Received a call from staff whilst travelling to the park to ensure we were ok.
Plenty of water for showers & free.
Highly recommend to stay.
The park lights not working, very dangerous when you walk to the bathroom in the dark. Barbecue are is not working. The whole place is been neglected.
Absolute flea trap. On very busy road, opposite a service centre plagued by local persons, wandering streets, including walking through hotel car park, inspecting vehicles. Then there was the disgusting room which had obviously never been completely cleaned. Filthy dirt and remnants of many years of poor maintenance. Bathroom equally unkempt, with tiles off the wall of shower and screen in three pieces. Towels full of holes, either worn out, bullet holes or moth eaten. May be a budget room, but should not be nasty as.looks like mouse poos above fridge unit. Have many photos if the owners think I am fabricating this review.
Scotty and staff made us feel welcomed and valued. Thank you to Chef who cooked a delicious meal 2 nights in a row. Coober pedy chicken was fantastic as was the lamb shanks and the beef schnitzel! Well done, great food, good price, great service! Highly recomend!
