Mexican Society

Pretty average food, overpriced, and annoying environment.
Paid $100 for the "Elote" a half ear of corn (cut into 1/4s), 2 tacos, and the BBQ cauliflower which was basically a $28 plate of beans and rice. The $12 fish taco was tiny and obviously frozen, overcooked and tasted like chewing rubber. To be fair the Broccoli taco was really good. But the environment was so unappealing, it was freezing, granted it was winter, but asking a server to turn the heat up was ignored. The music was too loud too, I was on a date with my partner and we were yelling at each other at a 2px table.
Leaving I was asked how everything was and I began to tell them that every single person (not exaggerating) in the entire place was wearing a coat. I said it was too cold for the winter, I mentioned it earlier, they said they felt fine. Of course they did the staff is up moving around and active, not sitting sedentary at a table. They got really defensive, but I didn't come with complaints? They asked me how everything was, so I told them I was very unimpressed. I said that if we had seen a server or if anyone had seen tonus during our meal and asked we would have given the same feedback rather than waiting to the end to say something.

Not a great experience, especially for the price. Worst Mexican restaurant I've been to in Adelaide.

Air conditioning was broken and apparently has been for some time. Not the best spot on a 34 degree evening.

Absolutely fantastic food and service. I couldn't have asked for a better meal or a place to take my wife. The duck salad was just perfect. Definitely going back again when I am in Adelaide next!

I've been wanting to visit for years and finally did - I was unfortunately very underwhelmed.

Food was OK - but pretty forgettable and not worth the $30+ for mains asked. Drink prices similarly hefty, even for basic beers.

Service ranged between very good to, erm, let's say inexperienced, depending on who visited the table.

Final kicker - no working air con Things happen and as a one off it's understandable, but judging by the reviews this has been a problem for weeks.

They don't stick to the offers they provide. Everytime they change terms and conditions of offer they provide for example I had card in which it said if you buy from particular menu it's free up to certain amount but then they change it to irrespective of anything I need to buy certain amount of food that amount is too high and no purpose of having offer. No transparency and professionalism.

I'd like to start with saying that food was fantastic. Rate I'm giving is because of service we got. As soon as I finished eating, we were shown the bill and told we need to pay and go because next booking for this table was there. There were other tables vacant. During booking or at the restaurant I was NOT informed about time limit so I was very surprised. I considered staying and getting a desert but after how we were treated I won't ever go back there again. It's a pity cause as I said, food was fantastic.

Friendly and prompt services. Food came out quickly with eye appealing presentation. We liked most of the food we ordered. The crispy chicken taco was well cooked, crunchy on the outside, soft and juicy on the inside. The lamb taco on the other hand was too saucy, making the taco shell too soft when picking up from the plate and juice dripped everywhere. Not the best eating experience. Our mains were of generous size, especially the pulled beef cheek. Duck salad used Chinese greens Bok Choy which I wasn't sure was the authentic Mexican way of salad. The dish nevertheless tasted fresh, only the duck was over done and a bit dry. Overall, we enjoyed our dining experience at Mexican Society.

A nice meal but a bit pricey even for the city.
A expensive restaurant that serves TAP water that’s not filtered!
The food was good but ordinary Mexican and not worth the price.
The drinks were very expensive.
Service was okay but a bit lacking detail as the were not enough staff the the busy night (Saturday).
Atmosphere was good if not somewhat lacking ambiance.

The food was a clean fresh take on the old style Mexican food that used to be very stodgy and covered by cheese. It was absolutely delicious and the staff very friendly. A wonderfully enjoyable night.

Been here a couple of time now, change a bit over the years but good solid Mexican cuisine. Had the elote which was nice and the guacamole con totopos (could do with a bit of salt and lime). Chicken chimichurri was great and the slow cooked braised beef enchiladas. Staff were friendly and helpful. Be sure to book in advance because it fills us quickly on weekends.

Great tasting food and atmosphere only thing maybe needed a little more theme of Mexico with music of that region, but other than that, I'll be back

One of, if not THE best Mexican restaurants in Australia (yes, Australia!) this is our 'go to' with every visit to Adelaide.

Great atmosphere, fantastic staff, not to mention the food. Perfect for friend catch-ups. We are going back next week for a family event this time.

Great food, warm staff and lovely relaxed yet elegant ambience. Plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians. Strong recommend.

I had read good reviews for Mexican Society and was so underwhelmed by our experience. The service was awkward and rushed.
The food was miserable. Small serving sizes, plates were bulked up with lettuce mix and frozen potato chips.
The meats had no flavour at all, they were watery and bland. Whoever is running the kitchen has never experienced Mexican food. There is nothing Mexican about this place. You would get a better outcome with an old elpaso meal kit from the supermarket.

A reservation for a table for two turned miraculously into a shouting match across a massive table in the middle of the restaurant, flanked to the left by a very loud and lively vegetarian vs.carnivore bicker, and to the right by a not less loud party of six (snugly packed into a space for four). To make one heard was not helped by the general, fairly clamorous din. It was just after 7, so I blame sound proofing errors and not the alcohol.
Food arrived on a tin tray, and since the plates that sat already in front of us were removed, we had to eat from said trays, which was hardcore prison-style (or mega hipster maybe?). Food presentation was thus somewhat "rustic", with the juices of the beef cheek (lots of fat) freely covering every part of the tray and soaking thoroughly the tacos. I couldn't decide if this was intentional or an accident. Robbed of an instagram foodporn motif, I took a snap anyway and enclose it herewith. I did enjoy the patatas bravas, hence 2 stars.

Ok meal, on the expensive side, very small tables, felt very rushed for our meal, cocktail drinks, we thought expensive probably wouldn't come back

Taco Tuesday was good. Word of caution to some over zealous wait staff - don't give the hurry up too early into a 90 minute sitting. The customer that is in your restaurant is just as important as your next one.

Our group of four had the middle banquet and found the dishes were perfect quantity overall (but we did indulge with dessert), tasted fantastic, and not heavily spiced. We absolutely recommend trying it.not so much the Margherita with jalepinos, that was apparently very spicey!
