Mercato reviews
74 I used to shop here often. Their deli selection has always been excellent. Back then, this was a good old Italian grocery store, prices were reasonable and there was no cafe section at the back.
Sadly, it has now become yet another place of worship for the Adelaide well-off hipster crowd and rich tradesmen's wives. Their prices have become unacceptable and cannot be justified in any way other than this being a fashionable spot to be at.
I occasionally come here to get 1 product that i cannot find elsewhere. I cannot possibly recommend it other than for very specific requirements, as you can buy most of what they stock elsewhere at a better value.
Honestly the best coffee I’ve ever had. The service is lovely and the food is unlike anything I’ve ever tasted. A true, authentic, Italian experience. Can’t wait to come back!
Great coffee and food. Staff amazing waitresses happy and very helpful. Will certainly be back and strongly recommend but book it's very popular 5 stars
Great variety of Italian food products.
Staff are friendly helpful and knowledgeable.
Good atmosphere.
My favourite Continental deli in the area, especially for proper Italian pizza ingredients
Great continental shop and cafe offering a variety of Italian food, beer and wine.
Also has sit down casual dining offering coffee, cake, pizza and other Italian meals.
Well worth the visit
What a great lunch we had today booked under Tania: Marcus was making sure that everyone was looked after and made our day a memorable one we have been several times but today became very special
If you want to go to Italy but don't have the time. Step through the doors of Bar Mercato to be teleported to Rome. A breakfast of Uova alla Napoletano (eggs cooked in Nap sauce with basil leaves, bocconcini and crispy pancetta), a peach bellini and a Sicilian cannolli with ends of glazed orange zest and pistachio. Don't forget the coffee.for me a piccolo. Come on does it get any better?
This is a busy destination, best to reserve a table.
Fantastic Italian grocer, get something to eat and a great coffee too. Very friendly staff all to happy to help
This is a Fabulous shop with all sorts of Italian foods and wines. Great also for breakfast and lunch catchup with friends.
Long standing customer - Ordering a coffee that was made incorrectly. Upon asking for a remake the girl barista was unashamedly and unsympathetically not willing to accept she could have made something wrong (and terrible mind you) with her comments in front of me. The second coffee was even worse and subsequently ended up in the bin. This review is for the cafe and barista working today specifically, not the shop. Some people just shouldn’t be in the service industry.
If you are looking for a large variety of Italian produce from your cheeses, wines, cold meats, canned goods, biscuits and so many other things, this is honestly the best place in Adelaide full stop. I always go to buy one item and walkout with so much stuff but it is because there are things I want to try. The restaurant over there is pretty good, they have a good range of hot food to buy. I highly recommend this place.
So my wife goes there to get some pizza slices takeaway, however she received both pieces from the corners. Requested if she could have a different piece except the corner, however she was refused on the basis of not requesting the right piece before hand. Excuse me, what? I'm only sorry I wasn't there when she got them. 1 star, obviously you reached a point where you have too may customers.
Wow. Haven’t been to this local famous icon for say 3+ yrs. The eatery was amazing, and so much better than it was yrs ago.
Meatballs were simple but a masterclass in flavour.
Thanks and I’ll be back regularly now
Ordered 3 coffees and 2 pastries to go. Took awhile as it was busy, coffee order wrong and one pastry ordered was incorrect-noticed it when in the car and on the way.
Over priced.had lunch the food was a poor substitute Italian and the wine, on the shelf they had Nero d ovola for $20 which is three time better than was vino de casa for which they charged $60.00.with their own label.please beware.
Got to wait lunch for 40 min. I mean they only have 3 dishes. The beef dish was quite so-so. Only recommend for coffee, cakes and atmosphere.
Normally fantastic. But today was so disappointing, ordered a takeaway pizza and small latte, pizza ready straight away, latte took 25min. Now I have a cold pizza and a disgusting over heated coffee. Could have just said that there was a wait on the coffee because they were busy and I would not have ordered.
Eight whole years ago, ahead of my first trip to Adelaide, Mercato was the first thing on my list of recommendations from a local. I can't believe it took me until October 2022 to finally cross that off the list.
I hope you can all forgive me. As a token of my appreciation for the romanella, espresso and apricot nectar that were all 10/10, and for my misdeeds please accept this 5-star review as my sincere apology, and know that I will be returning to your incredible store at least once a year.
Nice coffee. Delicious pastry. Friendly staff. Great choice of music with a decent sound system. Thankyou.
