Katsumoto reviews
60 The food is mostly average and nowadays is overpriced too. I ordered udon, it was supposed to come with fish balls, it didn’t. I asked the waitress and she told me the kitchen said no fish balls… It’s already bare enough at the $14 price point with just one bean curd skin, two extra Naruto doesn’t make up for it, they’re barely a garnish.
I’ve had some good meals here in the past, long ago.
Chicken katsu dish had a good quality and well balanced taste. However I wish curry was a bit stronger.
Wonton soup quality was ok but it was a bit tasteless.
I would recommend this place.
The WORST Tonkatsu ever or I should say this is the worst thing that I have ever had in my life so far; the meat is so dry and small portion, looks totally different from the picture. Also the miso soup tastes like water mix with a bottle of salt.
They shouldn’t serve customers with those things
Best tasting Japanese flavor I’ve ever tried in Adelaide. Yakitori set
is absolutely delicious. Curry is also popular and amazing there. Highly recommend their Japanese hot pot. The service staff are polite and friendly. A very good place for sitting there and catch up with friends.
The food is good and affordable but their service is terrible.
I left a quality reusable tote bag there, came back when I realised I left it there and they threw it in the bin. It wasn’t even 10 minutes since I left the restaurant.
I was not even compensated to buy a new bag.
Until today I have been walking past Katsumoto for far too long. Authentic Japanese. Highly recommend!
Beautiful food
Tasty
Fresh, very good price.
Ist time there, but not last.
I have been coming here often over past year or two. The food is always good but I have noticed in my last two visits that the prices have gone up, and the portion sizes have gone down.sign of the times I guess
Saw their signage on Friday evening and came back Saturday morning. Each dishes are served with generous portion of rice, too much until we finished the meat first. Location is beautiful inside the Adelaide Arcade however we have had better Japanese meals. Fast and friendly service, though.
Inedible dry old chicken that did smell so bad. I requested skin free fried chicken and this is what I got. Feels so bad how this authentic Japanese place has gone so bad. The server kept arguing that this is so fresh. Disappointed.
I can’t walk past this place or even the adelaide arcade without getting hungry now, their katsu curry is probably some of the best food I’ve had
The customer attitude is really bad. I was introduced of this restaurant by Groupon. However, I have been told that I cannot use the voucher during their normal lunch time, instead the only acceptable time is after 1: 30 PM. This condition was not addressed on the campaign page on Groupon. Even worse, they told me that they won't take Groupon voucher anymore when I can visited them again and I had to contact Groupon myself for a refund. What a ridiculous! Their Groupon campaign was still on at that time. There were tons of Japanese restaurant I have ever visits, and this is the worst for sure.
I ordered a ebi curry rice, first time that I know the curry on the rice is the curry soup rather than curry sauce? !
They've renovated it to make it have a more Japanese vibe. Small shop in the Arcades of Rundle Mall. Decent sized meal and affordable. The meat is abit tough for the katsu pork. But generally it was alright for the price you pay
The meat to rice ratio was way off, and i couldn't even finish eating.my katsu wad so poorly made
I ordered their Miso Tonkotsu Ramen and it was kinda okay. Tolerable. I've been to Japan and tasted authentic ramen, this is far from it tho. Quality is okay (meh actually), noodles was obviously synthetic, and taste has a lot of room for improvement.
I don't know their best seller though. Maybe I picked the wrong dish to taste in this restaurant.
Do not order the Teriyaki chicken set. It was WAY TOO SALTY and was hazardous to eat.
In addition to this, the menu needs to include a list of drinks available. No mention of Japanese teas or anything.
It didn't feel authentically Japanese at all. We were very disappointed, as we'd read earlier positive reviews about this place.
Eh, the few times I have been here the curry is good! Not sure what has happened, the customers service has gone terrible. Servers didn't seem to care with a cold shoulder, everytime we thanked them they didn't seem to care and say nothing.
I was particularly disgusted with the tea cups and tea pot.
It did not seem to be cleaned in a VERY long time, or even at all!
Firstly, inside the teapot spout had dark rust like tea stains. The tea cups looked like they were just rinsed and not scrubbed. It was completely covered in tea stains that we scrapped it off to see the actual colour of the white cup.
Very disappointed.
This restaurant USED TO be authentic and traditional but not anymore. My former favourite dish "Hiyashi Chuka" has been altered to a cheap, disgusting dish. The noodle tastes like half-cooked instant packet noodles. The topping is random and not traditional at all. I was looking forward to coming back to taste this dish after some years away, but I am very saddened to find that this shop has changed- for the worse.
Randomly came across this place while searching for a Japanese curry.
The katsu curry was delicious and the overall meal filling. Only issue is I wanted more!
Will be going back again and trying more items they have to offer.
