Joan's Pantry - Closed Public Holidays reviews
68Great food! Amazing halloumi burger, with pesto and tomato! Lots of vegan and vegetarian options too!
Great location. Food is only OK, expensive for the quality and taste. Loud inside main dining area when busy. Would probably only go back for coffee.
Party of nine, food was 'OK-ish'.
For simple 'Big Breakfast' / brunch type meals there's no reason the food couldn't have been 'great' or even 'awesome'!
Dispite being quite busy they appeared to have enough 'front of house' staff on, but they seemed to be quite disorganised so the service wasn't where it should have been.
There was a bit of a wait for the meals, they weren't 'quick' or even 'about the right time' but even so, the wait wasn't what you would call excessive.
While not the fault of the restaurant, as you might expect with this style of restaurant and clientele it was very noisy, too much so to be able to have a conversation with people sitting more than a seat away from you.
This is probably a vicious circle, someone can't hear properly sounds they need to raise their voice a bit, which adds to the total noise levels, so you need to speak louder, which raises the noise level.
SUMMARY. While it's OK you can probably do better, but it is next to a great park where you can take the little ones.
Love these guys, great food and atmosphere. I go there regularly to play Bananagrams with my Dad, they know us well and always share a laugh.
WOW just WOW! 5 out of 5!
Just popped into Joan’s Pantry for the first time. Firstly, greeted by a super friendly and helpful man, secondly ordered lunch with dietary changes. Veggie Pattie with salad, hummus, dukkah with a tropical smoothie. Nothing was too much trouble. Every mouthful of food was sublime. No ordinary salad, layers of fresh amazing flavour, from the pickled cucumber to all the seeds, spices, dressing and roasted veg. Hubby loved the fabulous coffee! Loads of top quality food options for all. These people know good food! Grateful thankyou to the Joan’s Pantry team. We will be back with friends and family.
Delicious vegan Vietnamese salad with tofu. Excellent, helpful and friendly staff in clean, relaxing surroundings. Lovely leafy location (opposite Hathorndene oval), despite busy Watahuna Ave.
Awesome coffee and Granola. I frequently visit Hawthornedene and always come to Joans because the quality of food and coffee is always outstanding.
Great food and coffee. I have been past so often and finally visited and found a great cafe or is it a restaurant? It's so good we will return.
Joan's pantry is a quaint little Cafe with it's own community garden and situated between a playground and a cricket oval. Perfect in the summer months to sit in their garden under the trees and enjoy a fresh juice.
Beautiful coffee there! I even bought the coffee beans as well.manners were great as well.
Joan's Pantry was lovely, I believe it has been in the same area for year's.
Coffee and selection of cake's, breakfast meals and lunch time meals were amazing.
Go to Joan's Pantry hungry as all the meals were very well presented and looked delicious.
I went with a group of friends and everyone was extremely happy.

My Friend & I have been catching up at JP's for along time. But have decided to go else where. The customer service has been terrible, unpleasant coffee. Burnt croissants with minimal fillings. We had chipped mugs and plates, also dirty & blunt cutlery. Certainly not recommending to Friends or Family, which is a real shame. Could be fixed with better staff.
Really enjoyed our breakfast but the only problem was the knives aren’t good enough to cut through the rye. This is the second time it’s happened! Perhaps you should think about changing your cutlery. Other than that the food was delightful
Nice little spot in the hills, very busy on weekends but nice and quiet during the week, great place to meet friends and chat. Cute outdoor tables. Good food. Home made lemonade is delicious!
Not only was the coffee very well done! The staff were extremely friendly and joyous.
They even went out of their way to learn/ make me a magic coffee!
I’m a support worker and i bring my client here after school during the week and he always looks forward to it.everyone is always so incredible.beautiful staff and lovely coffee.
Lovely spot.this meal was nicely cooked but i was a bit dissappointed to recieve my gado gado dish with what looked like only about two or three teaspoons of the gado gado sauce.for the $21 i did expect a little more as the flavour of the dish was reduced. I also asked for bacon on the side (+$5) but it wasnt.it was put with the dish.without it on the plate i felt it was a fairly frugal meal. Overall $26 was way too much for the amount of food.will definitely hesitate to return.
I've passed this place for years. First time in. Much bigger inside than I expected.
Very nice coffee and service.
Just cake and coffee today, but will definitely be back.
A great spot to have a coffee, decaf and cake gluten free nice range.
After being at flinders hospital a nice respite on way home to Murray bridge.
