Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park reviews
51Great walks. Magnificent views. Good well stocked store, clothing and fuel at a reasonable price.
We stayed in Wilpena Pound caravan park Great, friendly staff, beautiful location, lots of trails and tracks with million star views and lots of native animals. Ammentities were average
Rugged natural beauty of the ranges.
Great walking trails with various degrees of difficulty.
Good 4WD tracks suitable for novice drivers through to the experienced.
If you like the outdoors there is something for everyone.
It’s surrounded by nature. It’s so peaceful and relax. Many good walking trails. And must try the scenic flight. It’s great way to see the ranges. Love it
Fantastic. Great hiking and scenery. Great hike up St. Marys just give yourself plenty of time as last bit is quite steep
This place needs to be protected from Government fancies. It is a beautiful natural formation and the locals are doing a great job of looking after it.
I strongly suggest everyone visits this location and do what they can to protect it. Nature never got better.
Such a unique and beautiful area. Do yourself a favour and take the wilpeena pound walk out of Rawnsley Park station, it a bit of a trek but worth it
Magical spot for nature lovers. Camp, drive, ride and bushwalk amoungst 600 million yr old stone and enjoy the changing landscape. Lots to explore and take in. Do the bunyeroo and brachina gorge by car (high clearance preferred) prepare to get dusty, take your time and have a good look around the vast national Park.
A truly great park with a combination of scenic walks and drives. Include Bunyeroo Valley, Brachina Gorge and Wilpena Pound in your itinerary. The walk to St Mary's peak is more challenging than I thought and the information about it is not detailed enough for the "average" walker. The last few kilometers walking over loose rocks then the final scramble up the peak is challenging but doable. However, I passed some people who were not well prepared for the walk with little concept of the time involved (they probably returned in the dark), the amount of water to carry (minimum of 2L per person), nor the type of shoes or boots to wear. More detailed information that was readily available would be helpful to assist those who come thinking it might be a good thing to do but have little concept of what is really involved. Of course there are many other attractions in the park and region. Better details of the Flinders Ranges region can be gleaned from a HEMA map as they are designed to help 4 wheel drive travellers.
Good except for one thing- we were here for 3 nights & the amenities were not cleaned at all & the bins not emptied.
