Hong Fat BBQ Restaurant reviews
52 They don't even make there own XO sauce/chilli oil. Huy Fong Sriracha sauce is used. Its a downer.for me.
Chinese/Cantonese food don't used sriracha, they make there own Cantonese XO sauce / chinese chilli oil.
Conpoy, jin hua ham, fried flonder fish, dried shrimp, scallops are used.
I definitely not going back to this joint.
I dont understand why they need to microwave the food.
This restaurant has been around for quite a while now. I was hungry so stopped by for lunch, ordered the Roast Duck rice unfortunately the rice was under cooked, no consistency, guess in the future, I'd probably avoid this place and check out the food court in the market.
A barbecue shop that has been in business for more than ten or twenty years still has something to offer! Very good value for money
I had a disappointing experience at Hong Fat BBQ Restaurant. The service was slow; we waited too long while others who ordered later were served first. The noodle soup was bland, the Char Kway Teow lacked flavor, and it was clear our BBQ dishes were microwaved. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning.
BBQ pork is always delish. Special fried rice is yummy. Sweet and Sour pork, highly recommended.
Been twice and both times disappointed. First time ordered a chicken rice and chicken breast was dry and over cooked. Thought I would give it another chance and bought a roast duck for $34 but meat tasted old and duck was not fresh with barely any meat. Never go again.
Stupid male cashier/ water ruined my day with terrible service, awful attitude. Grab food with bare hand after receiving cash. No body prepares food after getting order, had to wait for a long time there. Not coming back.
Awesome long standing Chinese eatery. Been coming since I was a kid. Awesome selection of dishes and roast meats. One of the only places to serve intestines and stomach etc. If your Chinese and live in Adelaide you must come here and eat. Amazing 5/5.
Hong Fat BBQ Restaurant has been around forever. Try not to be lured in by the roast ducks and roast pork hanging in the windows - they are fantastic to take away and eat at home. Friendly service when you eat in.
Poor service and no taste.
The boy taking the orders was rude and no courtesy.
I asked him for chili oil. He told me to go and get it.
There was no container for the chili oil. He told me to take my plate and get it. I was about to eat. Asked him for fork and spoon he pointed to a table a family was dining to go and get.
Tissues he asked me to go and get it.
The lady cutting the meat was so slow and no experience to cut meat. I ordered rice and three meats $16.50
Horrible cuts, chicken all skin, stale duck and smelly pork. It was just horrible food.
This is the second time very bad experience.
First time I complained the staff cannot understand English.
A year ago the service and food was good.
Defintely will not recommend to friends.
Our go-to shop for takeaway crispy skin roast pork belly in Adelaide. The pork belly is consistently good, according to the pork belly aficionado of the household!
I rate this place ZERO out of five. Terrible service from the guy taking orders. No big deal that he couldn’t speak Cantonese, but we couldn’t converse with him in English either - we don’t speak mandarin! The wonton noodle soup was bland with the most unpalatable wontons I’ve ever eaten in my life - the wonton wrapper and meat was super dry and chewy, definitely not fresh. The roast duck and roast pork were both super underwhelming, mushy duck meat and tasteless fatty pork. Definitely not good quality Chinese style roast meats - tasted like they par boiled the duck first then “roasted” it. Would not recommend.
The roast duck, stomach and seafood soup had quite nice tastes. However, the broth from noodle soup was under average. Before this time, I had tried fried rice with roast pork and it was not yummy as well. The space was small but quite clean and quiet. And the staff is quite friendly. Nearly 3.5 stars.
Ordered combination BBQ rice and a portion of intestine stew, the protein on the BBQ rice tasteless and unfresh, and the worse is the intestine with strong stink smell, i waste $45 after half and hours wait even no customer at that time.i give 2 star is just because the lady that serve me are very friendly and keep asking my order to the kitchen because she realised that i wait for too long, otherwise no stars for you guys!
We had come to this restaurant this morning. We order the BBQ three combinations with noodle and wonton soup noodle. We like the BBQ three combinations as the meats were tender and fragrant. The negative is the wonton noodle. It is not as good as the BBQ meats.
Great price, for a great feed.
Good portions, and the flavours you expect from traditional food in a traditional environment.
The food is okay, but not worth the price. The price has risen and the food stayed the same. Small portions of meat with mostly bones.
Had roast combination meat with rice. Roast pork could use a bit more crunchiness but flavours were really good. Cozy atmosphere for dine in, wide variety of items on their menu to satisfy your cravings. A little bit more vegetables could be nice as well with the roast meat on rice. Overall great value for money!
First and last visit to this place.
Visited on a rather warm day and there was no fan or A/C running, table beside us was also sweating (only one other person in the shop).
Food lacked taste, but portion was definitely big. Cleanliness was not the best and staff was little unfriendly. When I asked for a spoon, was handed a teaspoon to eat and when I asked for a normal spoon, was told just use the teaspoon rather rudely.
Portion: 8/10
Service: 1/10
Cleanliness: 2/10
Atmosphere: 1/10
It’s been about 14 years since we’ve been back here and eaten, have had lunch here 2 days in a row. Just like it use to be, same taste same great value. We love their BBQ Pork Omlette and today had their Mongolian Beef, Deep Fried Fish Fillet in Sweet Corn Sauce and Stir Fry Chicken with vegetables. All were delicious, and on both days staff were beautiful. Thank you for still serving the same great food!
