Golden Boy reviews
79I was SO impressed with our entire dining experience at Golden Boy. The food was amazing & they were more than happy to tailor things to my dietary requirements with no issues or extra costs. The customer service was lovely and the serving size of our yummy meals were very generous. Absolutely worth checking out!
An absolute must while in adelaide, could not fault any of the dishes brought out and we left stuffed!
I recently dined at Golden Boy, and unfortunately, my overall experience left me dissatisfied. Regardless of whether you visit on a weekday or weekend, they enforce the tuk-tuk menu, a predetermined selection of dishes chosen by the restaurant. During my dinner with a friend, we had no choice but to go with this menu, which included rice, beef, and pumpkin-based dishes from EVERYTHING ELSE part of their menu, with no option for curries. Additionally, the dessert provided was portioned for just one person, and when I inquired, they explained that the portion size depends on the number of diners, with 2 desserts for 3 people and 1 dessert for 2 people. I don’t understand this concept you pay for two people but get dishes with portions for one.
The waiter, Ethan, who attended to us, seemed in a hurry and cleared our plates without asking if we were finished. After paying $69 per person for the preselected course menu, I left feeling disappointed, as I was compelled to eat something I didn't particularly enjoy. If you're considering dining here with a group of 10 friends, be cautious, as it can be quite expensive with subpar service and probably they will provide food for 5 and give some stupid explanation. Adelaide offers better Thai dining options that don't exploit their popularity to overcharge customers.
Smaller portions and expensive for the quantity provided, the service was alos not satisfactory
Delicious food and great service
We had our own waitress helping us choose the best for our tastes
Love the food and the service will definitely come back! Crab was fantastic! Pork was good, beef and chicken curry were amazing! Everything was good
Just the best! We had their set menu Tuk Tuk offering and it was terrific. There were six entree and main course dishes and two desserts and they were all excellent. Great taste, great value and more food than we needed. The staff were exceptional, friendly, quick to serve and professional. We will be back.
Thanks Golden Boy.
Really great food! The tuktuk is a lot of food, maybe too much and you can't order a la carte for dinner either. But again, great food and lots of it.
Golden Boy was an absolutely fantastic and I cannot imagine anyone being disappointed with their experience dining here.
My partner and I ordered the Tuk Tuk banquet where they bring a selection of different dishes. It was completely divine from start to finish. We ordered ours as a gluten free, vegan banquet to suit our dietary requirements and they delivered superbly.
The food was delicious and abundant. We actually had to politely decline the last savoury course which was a shame and quite unusual for us. We wanted to leave room for dessert which was delicate and sweet and finished everything off perfectly.
I can’t wait to visit Golden Boy again. If you are not a big eater then have an early lunch on the day you plan to come here as they really feed you well and you’ll want to fit everything in!
We came here on a double date for dinner. The atmosphere was pleasant. The table seating we had was really good. We were very happy with it.
The staff were nice and friendly.
We had our waitress help pick out some of the food on the menu and did not disappoint.
Some of the food were amazing!
The shallot pancake was very well cooked, crispy and tasteful.
The dessert with pandan flavour was absolutely delicious.
The lychee drink they had (non alcoholic) was very good. We ordered a few more.
The braised pork was ok, it is not very soft and tender, it was quite hard, it had small shrimp added to it, and it was quite fishy and salty. Personally not for us.
The beef steak was very juicy and yummy, although would like it cooked that slightly more, as it seem a little too red still, personal tasting.
The pulled pork with the thin wrap was very flavoursome and yummy, it comes with extra sauce, in my opinion the pulled pork itself was plenty of flavour without it.
The mince chicken lettuce cups, I’d say it was absolutely amazing.
The Pad Thai was average.
The banana blossom salad was very refreshing and tasted very nice.
These are just some that stood out, we had a few more dishes.
I am giving these many stars as we requested no bean sprouts and we had bean sprouts in all of the dishes that were meant to have them. They also charged us for something we said we no longer want and to exchange it for another dish, it never came out and we still got charged for it.
Overall, experience was nice and food was lovely.
Came for a work dinner and we got the set menu. The food seemed to be endless and everything I tried was delicious. I was very well catered for as the only vegan of the group. Both the pad thai and yellow curry were delicious but the standouts for me were the pumpkin with nori chips, the TBBC and the sticky rice with mango. The wine selection was great too. I’ll definitely be back.
LOVED IT!
We went for dinner after a Fringe Show - we had a big group on 2 tables outside. We opted for the Tuk Tuk menu and it was FABULOUS!
The photos do not do the food justice - each dish was utterly delectable!
The staff were fantastic - our drinks came out quickly as did our food. No request was too difficult.
Such an enjoyable meal out with family & friends - great atmosphere and amazing food!
5 golden stars! This place is incredible, the flavours and service are second to none! If you're a local or visiting, this place is a MUST.
Tuk Tuk experience was fun and exciting. They catered to all our dietary needs without hassle and everything that came to the table was delicious.
I have probably never been so disappointed before, it was my first experience at golden boy and I had very high expectations, for 1 the service was horrendous, there were no knives on the table, mid way we asked for knives and they only bought out two.for all of us to share thought that was a bit unusual, took so long for our order to get taken, the drinks were taking way too long, speaking about the drinks - we had 5 cocktails each and all left feeling so sober. Not sure if there was any alcohol in the cocktails at all. Will not be coming back unfortunately
My only complaint is that it was New Year's Eve and we were told our table was from 9 until 11, the bill was put on our table just after 10.30 and food/drink service ceased.
We had the best night here! Wonderful food, amazing staff - we felt cared for and not smothered. Was a fab way to spend our NYE!
Highly recommend!
We attended Golden Boy last night with a group of 10, had an amazing night and experience.
We ordered the Tuk Tuk experience and the staff were incredibly flexible and accommodating of individual requirements, with 1 vegetarian and 1 Celiac amongst the group.
The staff communicated to those individuals throughout the night for the various dishes and all were incredibly delicious leaving us all incredibly full by the end of the evening.
I would highly recommend, and will be returning again in the near future!
Venue is beautiful and the Thai flavours exquisite! Trust the staff recommendations on the Tuk -Tuk menu. Perfect place for a long Friday lunch
An asian fusion place with nice heated seatings outside. We had the Tuk Tuk set menu which gave a range of dishes to try. However, the serving size was decent but felt like it was a bit on the smaller end that we only just felt it was just enough to be full on. Still a place to visit for some nice Thai fusion dishes.
