Unexpected! Very svelte and sophisticated, rooms are generous and we'll furnished. Robert on the desk was helpful and always welcoming.

I am pleased with my room but the resteraunt.
Reese the chef is a talent never seen in Port Pirie before. My brother his partner and myself all had meals which were world standard. Neville our waiter also did a magnificent job. But seriously what ever Dean Vegas pays Reece the chef it is not enough
If you pass pirie on highway one call in it is worth it just to eat Reece's food

Nice location, you got plenty to see and explore around the hotel, things like parks, museums and that huge factory (not sure what it is but it is beautiful, see pics below).

Behind the hotel, you can see the river and a lot of industrial settings like cargo ships, trains and so on. You can also see the mountain ranges across the river, it was a fantastic view.

The hotel itself is quite small, you can find parking spaces right behind it, even though there is no signs whatsoever. The staffs are super nice and the food is amazing and in large portions (highly recommend the port rib, one of the best I have had in years).

I also recommend you book the hotel on their website to save some money. I booked via booking.com but the staff told me it will save me 10% if I book directly with them.

A gem! A truly 5 star hotel in the north. On our way back from Arkaroola and Wilpena we arrived in Port Pirie on dusk and found the Ellen, it was exactly what we all needed. Fresh, very clean and with all In room amenities (think fluffy bath robes), all the tv functionalities you expect at home, free wifi and very comfortable beds. Compared to where we had stayed on the way north this was worth the few extra dollars and being right in the Main Street it is so convenient. The restaurant looked fabulous as well. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Pirie.

Family had a cheeky 1 night stay, Beautiful and spotless hotel, the room was perfect, and the BEDS were so comfy perfect after a long drive.

Staff were fantastic, thanks to Trevor (Manager) for a great stay, and you should be proud to own/run such a beautiful hotel.

The room was one of the cleanest and well presented we have ever stayed in, and most certainly given the room rate. Friendly staff, great location.

A Rare Diamond in Port Pirie

The Ellen Hotel is definitely a rare diamond in Port Pirie, we struck gold with this accommodation. We had 3 wonderful nights stay here. From our first verbal communication with Trevor the Manager we knew we were on a winner. We reserved the Luxe Suite and definitely weren’t disappointed. Trevor on arrival was warm and friendly and couldn’t do enough for us during our stay. Our room was extremely large with a king bed that you could float off to sleep in and pillows to keep the dreams going all night. Bathroom was large with a choice of either a rain or steam shower together with double vanities, lush towels and products. We decided after a long day on the road to have dinner in the restaurant and again we couldn’t fault anything; the food was 5 Star with a wide selection of wines available. The menu also recommended wines to match each dish. The chef came out and spoke to every customer to ensure their meals were perfect. We were so impressed that we decided to reserve a table for the next 2 nights. We both ate different meals so we could sample a wide selection of dishes. The restaurant also does brunch on Saturdays and Sundays and we took advantage of this; once again we were highly impressed. We could not fault all the staff we met, from Trevor the Manager, Kerry and the other waitress in restaurant, the Chef & all housekeeping staff who made all guest feel important: -a rare commodity these days. We highly recommend the Ellen Hotel and Nanette and I hope to return soon.

Good location good set up in the rooms but the bathroom has a bit of smell! Maybe is to close to the port.
