Ellen Hotel

My partner and I stay here fairly regularly when we come to visit family or travelling for my partner’s work.
I’m honestly yet to find accommodation and restaurant food as good as the Ellen Hotel anywhere from Gepps Cross to Port Lincoln!
Daryl and his team really do go out of their way to make sure our stay there is very pleasant for which we really do appreciate.

Let's be honest, Port Pirie isn't exactly at the top of most travellers' bucket lists. But for those venturing off the beaten track, or simply finding themselves in this South Australian town, a hidden gem awaits: the Ellen Hotel. My recent stay here was nothing short of phenomenal, surpassing even some of my fantastic experiences in Sydney.

From the moment you step into the Ellen, you're transported to a world of unexpected sophistication. My room was a haven of comfort, with a plush king-size bed, a luxurious bathroom (complete with a waterfall shower!), and stylish touches that made me feel pampered.

But the real star of the show is the Ellen's restaurant. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was one of the best meals I've had in recent times

The service at the Ellen was the icing on the cake. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about their hotel and their town.

If you're looking for a unique and luxurious escape in South Australia, I urge you to consider the Ellen Hotel. It's not just the best place to stay in Port Pirie – it's a destination in itself.

Rooms are very luxurious and clean and comfortable, the view of my bedroom was towards the river and I got to see a beautiful sunrise from there. Restaurant food is a bit costly but amazing. It's totally worth the price

Comfy bed, rooms cleaned every day, excellent bathrooms. I stayed in the Aqua View Rooms. Large smart TV.

Every smallish town in Australia needs a Hotel like the Ellen Hotel! Showing other hoteliers the whole "build it and they will come" saying is true even for small towns, and that there is room in the market for something other than pubs and motels in these locales.
Hopefully they take their winning formula and move into other areas that have only been serviced by roadside motels up to now.

Right from the moment our party of 5 entered the foyer, it was inviting. Jamie and his team's service is second to none. We sat at a beautifully set table and enjoyed Clare Valley wine on recommendation, which was excellent. The menu was diverse catering to all tastes and needs. Entrees, mains, and desserts were all delicious, being presented to the highest standard. For a special occasion, stay, or just a treat, I highly recommend this hotel in Port Pirie SA

This has been our fourth stay at The Ellen when we are in Port Pirie for work. We actually book our jobs around the availability of this hotel. The rooms are quiet, clean and well appointed, the staff friendly and helpful, and the dining rivals much larger/more expensive establishments. If you're ever around Port Pirie, do yourself a favour and try The Ellen

I've stayed at The Ellen Hotel a number of times and wouldn't stay anywhere else. The service is impeccable, the food is excellent and the overall cleanliness is better than some 5-Star hotels across the globe.

What a wonderful experience at the Ellen Hotel. Stylish, beautiful building, lovely spacious room and loved the marble bathroom! Add to that a perfect meal in the restaurant. Could not have enjoyed it more.

My wife and I was passing by Port Pirie and booked into this restaurant by the positive reviews. The restaurant setting looked to be on the fine dining side, we ordered a couple entrees and a couple of mains one of which was a $44 steak medium rare. When the steak was served, we found it to be on the edge of well-done and complained. The waitress took the steak back to the kitchen then came back to say they’ll do another one. Except they didn’t, instead they re-cooked the same piece of meat till kingdom come and served it with the waitress saying well done as she served it. We were first confused and then shocked as we realised what was going on here.

This is a great hotel in the centre of the city. Rooms were spotlessly clean and with the double glazing on the windows were very quiet. Staff were very friendly and could not have been more helpful. My only complaint is that the restaurant was not open as there is not a whole lot of great choice out on the streets.

Darryl was so accomodating and welcoming on our late arrival. The room was perfect… comfortable, modern and clean. Highly recommend staying here when in Port Pirie. We will be back!

A beautiful hotel that simply cannot be faulted. This place gives many 5 star hotels in cities a run for their money, yet in the middle of the bush!

The service and professionalism of the staff is top notch, rooms and decor spacious, high quality and above all the cleanliness is insane. I don't think I've ever stayed somewhere so immaculately clean.

The on-site restaurant was also fantastic. Forget staying anywhere else in Port Pirie, this is it.

New owner in here and he's so accommodating and nice. When we went a few week's ago he was reinstating a chef to start doing meals again. Highly recommend.
