Concubine reviews
77A surprisingly nicer place on Gouger with reasonable pricing! An Asian fusion menu with fair portion sizing and homely flavours
TLDR; food was absolute trash, service was a joke, cocktails were flavoured piss. I’ve never left a review for anything, and this was bad enough to warrant the change.

Concubine has been a family favourite for absolutely forever. As of May 2021, the food is appalling, at par if not worse than a cheap takeaway. The service / management has evolved from a warm and friendly front of house team, to a bunch of miserable misfits. The cocktails used to be some of the nicest and most creative in town, replaced by watery store purchased mixers.
I am beyond disappointed - the cumin lamb was the single greatest dishes ever created; conveniently scrapped in favour of a slimy eggplant alternative.
It’s not authentic Chinese food but it’s really tasty. Service is great and attentive. Will come back for sure. Soft shell crab salad is a must try
Was extremely surprised to receive a table on Mother's Day. Probably one of the best dining experiences I've had in Adelaide. No delays, perfectly timed, attentive service, fresh flavours and a good representation of contemporary Chinese food.
A stunning meal. The banquet was sensational. Very tasty dishes with clean flavors that left a lovely tang on the palate. The waiters were very attentive. The decor was inviting. A must do.
Over rated.
Tried almost all the signature
dishes.
Nothing to rave about.
Nothing special here folks.
Disappointing.
The place is nice, and the staff is very kind and friendly, however, the reason i only give 2 star is because of the food wasn't very nice at all, no temperature, most of the dishes we order was too sweet, it kill most of the flavors, i believe that if the chef would change there mine and have a look at the recipes twice and don't cook it to rush, the food might be better than before, i might not going back at the monet, maybe after few months.
We go here every year on our trip to Barossa. Highly recommend. We over ordered like always but don’t regret it! If you are staying in Adelaide, highly recommend!
Very busy and after tasting the food I can understand why. Extremely friendly service which is a credit to any business. Prices were a bit high but well worth experiencing this quirky little restaurant in Adelaide.
Concubine is excellent in every way. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The service is quick. The food is exceptional. We have been coming to Concubine for years and they have been consistent every single time. No 1 restaurant in Adelaide!
When we were told by the waitress they have been awarded the best Chinese restaurant but being a chinese she doesn’t think so. We liked her humourt but she wasn’t lying! The food is pathetic mediocre Chinese food, you paid for the service but it is no better than Ying Chow next door. The food is uninspired asian/asian fusion food overly sweet and salty that you can get every else. Ambiance and decor are great but.when the food is ordinary with the high price tags, it doesn’t really matter anyway. Luckily we are being invited dinner here from our Aussie friends but we felt sorry for them.
Faultless.excellent service from booking to paying the bill. Delicious food, nice atmosphere, there’s nothing I would change about this experience. We were visiting from Melbourne and will happily recommend it to our friends. Our waiter especially was exceptional! We had a chefs choice banquet at $55 per head.perfect. Well done!
Food was really good! Service was amazing too! Only complaint would be the stool seats, really hurt your back after a while, recommend sitting at a table with chairs.
Really good Asian fusion food. Excellent service. Was there on a Saturday night. If you don't book you won't be able to get in.
Food was amazing. Lovely presentation and good selection on menus. Prices good. Service was great and decor lovely. Booking essential. Definitely on list to revisit.
This is the third time for us. It was a function in one of the upper rooms. I am not generally big on the Chinese food but have no hesitatio in recommending Concubine.
A cosy and romantic Chinese restaurant in the heart of Adelaide’s CBD, I was happy to be accommodated as a walk in on a busy Sunday evening. The service is attentive and the ambience is great. I opted for both serves of dumplings and beef cheeks as the main. The dumplings were nice, particularly the sauce but felt as if they haven’t come directly out of the steamer or had been in the steamer a little too long. The beef cheeks melted in the mouth and was a large serve. Had my glass of sparkling repoured as it was as flat as. Overall, nice dining experience with price tag above the average for Gouger
Completely overpriced. Crispy wontons ($5 a piece) tasteless. Mahjong chicken very dry with a boring sauce. Bok choy just bland. Stuffed eggplant were tasty.
I have eaten here a couple of times. Food is delicious, very nice atmosphere and staff are lovely and attentive. Highly recommend
The service and huge menu was a massive plus. The extensive menu gives you the option to share and the portions are extremely generous for the price. I will definitely return when I come back to Adelaide.
