Chennai Palace reviews
68Really rude lady who served us today. We believe she is the owner. The way they treated the staff and the customers is appalling. Never going back there again. Mediocre food, terrible service.
Terrible service and awfully long waiting times. The most shocking behaviour was from the lady owner of the restaurant, at the Onam Sadya event. Having worked in the hospitality sector before, I have always taken extra care to be nice to the waiters/waitresses. Despite me trying to have a polite conversation after being served very unprofessionally by the lady owner, she started to pick a fight while serving the food and ruined everyone's day. Besides this terrible behaviour, we didnt get the food we paid for. They had the audacity to tell the customers that the food got over, even though this was a pre booked event.
Definitely not worth getting ripped off and yelled at the same time.
Anyone looking for an Indian Karen experience would enjoy this restaurant. Just make sure the lady owner is working that day.
We group of 4 went today, lady waiter was good. However, food wise we didn't enjoy at all.
Pathetic food and hygiene.
Sorry to say but that is what our experience.
Firstly, I would like to commend Chennai Palace for identifying a great market potential in “Onam Sadhya”, but they forgot the evergreen marketing mantra, “CUSTOMER IS KING”.
Chennai Palace was simply not prepared & was highly unprofessional in their approach. Onam Sadhya is a service driven meal and the manner in which the dishes kept coming was a joke. The wait for the curries/items was long, the staff had no idea what they were serving and we were not enjoying the experience one bit.
To add to the misery the lady manager displayed a rude attitude and to cite an instance a friend of mine asked for a Papadam which she didn’t get in the first place and the lady manager responded saying “you will only get one papadam”, but hello madam do you even know that she didn’t get one yet?
The food was mediocre at best.
$35 was charged for all the above. Happy Onam.
Awesome South Indian food. Good service as well. Buffet selection was really great. Bit crowded during 1 to 2pm. Good place to enjoy with family.
Onam Sadhya was awesome! We couldn’t walk properly after eating yesterday, soooo full!?
This was something we were missing for a long time, and we couldn’t point much difference from the traditional Sadhya. Thank you and kudos to the team for making this a success and enjoyable for everyone!?
Really enjoyed the Onam Festival food. It was on banana leave with a lot of vegetables variety. Loved the options of curries. Service was good, Very friendly and fast service. Overall i am a very satisfied customer! I definitely recommend them
Food was great! But WHAT A WAIT OMG.waited like a whole hour for 2 plates of Biriyani, and then another like 30 mins for naan and one curry. Horrible wait times.
Always great food, authentic taste, great vibe and great customer service. Highly recommended!
Sunday Buffet is amazing as well.
Terrible service. Took an hour for first dishes to come out. Ordered a second drink. Never came. Food was nice.
Very nice meal with good service. Good wine selection.
Have been there before several years ago and still good.
This Indian eatery has stood on Walkerville Tce for probably 50 years or thereabouts, under various incarnations. Sadly it looks like it! In dire need of some renovation.
However, the food we ordered was very nice.
For that reason we will probably go again.
Worst buffet ever in life. Just not worth spending 19$ for the quality and hygenie the function hall mantains. Expect 1 person in white and white poor hospitality from the staff. A lady had Always eyes on our plate checking the quantity we eat which was way uncomfortable. Everyone seem confused, unorganized first said can finish meals meanwhile thers always inspection going on our plates. Left abruptly in an awkward state.
Obviously paid for my plate though. Wouldnt recommend to hygene concious people. Hope this post saves lots of 19$
Brilliant food and ambience. Went for the buffet and nothing less than finger licking. Authentic Indian taste, definitely recommend for all!
One can expect an authentic Tamil breakfast thats satisfactory and worth everyy penny for the price
One of the best place for South Indian food. Customer service is good, better than most of the restaurants in Adelaide. Reasonable price. Dosas are delicious, awesome quality food and great quantity.
Very poor service
Have been sitting here for exactly an hour and still no dinner!
The staff came now to serve the entree at 20: 00 hrs! When will they serve dinner!
Imagine a diabetic coming here and getting a hypoglycemia!
Food needs to be served on time- if the resources are less, please pull up more!
We went after long time and it was really good experience. The food was amazing specially Parotha and Chicken Chettinad. We also tried Chicken Lollypop and Idli. Kids loved their ice cream. Filter Coffee (hardly to get good one in Adelaide) was supurb. Next time, Pomfret Fry for sure.:)
Loved the buffet menu. The staff was friendly and the food was great. Gives that vibe of eating in a south Indian restaurant.
Proper South Indian breakfast we had. Chicken 65 is sooo good as we ate in India dhaba’s.only biryani is not South Indian style but it is great.
