Astounding cave garden metres from the main shopping street surrounded by a beautiful rose garden. A must see.

The planted gardens, rose beds etc are excellent, as are the nearby facilities. Plenty of bins, seats and shady grass to have a picnic. However the sinkhole was totally let down by the rubbish inside it, including a shopping trolley.

Was good the caves also known as the sinkhole looks nice, has a few nests, water running down it etc

Also near the area is these flowers which I took some photos of.

Can walk down to get a closer look.

This is quite a beautiful area in the city centre. Except for when idiots decide to throw rubbish in the "cave" area like shopping trolleys, bins, etc. The council tries hard to keep it clean.
When it rains there is a small waterfall created which looks quite spectacular. Enjoy this and the flower gardens. It is where the city originally began.

The Cave Gardens, Mount Gambier
Situated in the centre of town this unique sinkhole garden was the original water source for the early settlers.

There is a very cool and accessible viewing platform at both the top of the hole and down lower via the ramp. After rain there is also a lovely waterfall dropping into the hole this is a must see and in such a great location in the middle of the main city district.

Excellent place to visit during the day and at night has some old movies showing the areas history
Worth a visit

The face this is in the middle of the town makes it that much better. Easy enough walk down to the bottom with hand rails for those who are concerned. Visit this before the Umpherston sinkhole. Don’t expect the waterfall all year round, just take in the beauty.

It is disappointing to see people leaving/throwing their rubbish into the cave

The Cave Garden was even better up close than it's photos suggest. So much on display, and the roses were blooming perfectly.

A nice rose garden leads you to descent to the main lower lookout. Not bad but the rubbish (that's been dumped within the cave) needs to be cleaned as it's an eyesore.

There's another lookout on the top of the garden and parking on side road but could be difficult when traffic is busy.

Right in the centre of town. Not as beautiful as the big one but still worth a visit. Of a night they project movies onto wall behind but we found 3 different start times listed, we seen something wasn't that interested so left. Maybe there was a better show later?

Nice little place to relax but the council should clean it up and get rid of the rubbish that inconsiderate people dump and make it appealing for the town.

The cave garden is really pretty. The view is gorgeous and the picture view points are lovely. Unfortunately the rubbish that has been littered down the cave, do ruin the fantasy.

Conveniently situated in the city centre of Mt Gambier, lovely gardens. Worth a stop and quick walk around. However there is too much pollution in the bottom of the sink hole, from shopping trolley's, scooters, bottles, cans and general garbage. Beautiful and sad at the same time

Was a tad bit disappointing. Landscaping around was good to look at. But otherwise without the water pouring in, it's not much to look at.

Right in the middle of the main Street is a park called cave garden there's a huge sink hole with a cave at the bottom you carn't get in cave it's to steep without ropes but there's a supermarket trolley down there and who knows what's in the cave easy to walk viewing platform.

Pretty interesting attraction in the heart of town. Unfortunately there was a decent amount of rubbish down below

We stumbled across this beautiful garden which goes underground. We stopped in one of the main streets of Mt Gambier to look at our map for the next stop during our road trip and saw this place was right next to us! We enjoyed the scenic walk down the stairs and back up again. Very well maintained garden.

Was cleaner than recent years. It's a pity people keep using it as a rubbish bin. It is such a beautiful piece of geography in the middle of town that needs to be shown.more respect by people.

Well worth the stop - cool and peaceful, beats provided. The garden is surrounded by well kept parklands and gardens. Lovely rose garden. Located in the centre of town, tricky parking options. Toliets on hand
