Cafe Melzar reviews
73Always good. Great coffee, atmosphere, food and hospitality. Favourite when visiting Mt Gambier
This is definitely a place to go to for a meal. Gluten Free options available which is great. The meals we had were delicious and quickly served. I think we've found our new go to for breakfast in the Mount
Amazing vegan options! I had the earth lovers w/vegan option and it was very good.
Service was excellent, I stuffed up my order and they fixed it free of charge
Came in with a friend today around 11: 45 am. We were sat at a vacant table and given menus. We decided to order coffees and cake to start while we caught up and decided on lunch. We were approached multiple times over the next 30 minutes to check if we were done eating/drinking which we stated was uncomfortable to the staff as I have just left hospital and am unable to eat or drink quickly. We then had a reserved sign placed on our table for someone else with the time stating from 15 minutes from then. We thought this was abrupt and rude as we had no intention of immediately vacating, as we had not even ordered lunch at this stage. When the next table arrived we were asked to leave as we had been there "for 1 hour" and apparently our patronage was not as valued as the next customers. We have never been treated by such rudeness or lack of hospitality in any venue to this extent and for no actual legitimate reason. This was also doubly upsetting to my friend who was suffering from a recent bereavement and we were left to find alternative premises for our long over due catch up.
Absolutely amazing! The best cafe in mount gambier by far. Coffee was 10/10 food was 10/10 and service was 10/10 can’t recommend a better place!
I only got coffee from this place and it tasted great. Great beans and well made.
Meals look great too. Unless, they prove me otherwise, I still give them five stars.
The meal was tasty, service was nice. Pricing was a bit high especially when you are charged 5$ to order an extra sausage with your breakfast and receive half of one. (Cut in half length wise and fried on its size). They should let you know that. Otherwise very great place.
Fabulous, friendly, fast. I had barely sat down after ordering and my coffee arrived. Cooked breakfast was perfect, and set my Friday up as a winner.
We have been in this cafe for breakfast and waited almost an hour to get our meals. The staff barely smile or approach to the table at anytime.
We enjoyed a really delicious breakfast here with a great selection of choices on the menu. The coffee was good as well. We will be coming back again to try another tasty dish.
That Melzar club. A must try! The staff here are super attentive and friendly. Loved our visit this cool little Cafe.
Beautiful breakfast spot & awesome coffee in the centre of Mount Gambier. Highly recommended
It’s one of the best beef burger I have ever had
And their juice is really good, you can choose ingredients by yourself.
Excellent food which was delicious and fantastic quick service.
Everyone must try this place out. Be sure to book as you may miss out.
I wouldrecommend this place very highly.
My husband took me here on our visit to the South East.food was delicious and great service from the staff. Definitely check it out
I had a very nice chicken and avo wrap, the latte I had was so good that I had to get another one which is not something that I'd normally do. Well done, I'll be going here again even if it is only for a latte.
Such a nice cafe. Every dish is very nutritiously balanced and tastes great!
The house stack, layered with spinach, mashed pumpkin, pulled pork and eggs on top. Very good start for a day ️ strongly recommend!
Limited seating due to restrictions but there’s indoor / outdoor areas. Recommended to book for a table.
We went twice for our short stay in town and the pulled pork hollandaise is possibly the best pulled pork dish we’ve had! Highly recommend.
We decided to explore this cafe on our stay at mt Gambier on one fine morning. We rocked up thinking it would be easy to get brunch there but we were wrong, it was fully packed and we had to wait. The wait was absolutely worth when we got our food. Amazing food, friendly staff. Just a cautionary warning, clarify ingredients of your food if you are vegetarian, we ordered a wrap without bacon as all other ingredients were vegetarian but ended up having eggs in the wrap. They were kind enough to replace it.
Service
People behind the counter were polite enough, but disinterested in me past my order. No complaints, just nothing to write home about.
Food
I had the blueberry and lemon pancakes. The flavouring was lovely and it was beautifully presented, but the pancakes were reasonably average. I also had a chai latte, it was well made, leaning towards a tumeric taste in the spice department. All in all, I was very happy with the food.
Atmosphere
The overall atmosphere seemed to be one almost entirely made up of regulars. I was eyed warily by multiple other customers and somehow felt as if I were an intruder of some description. This isn't the fault of the business, it's simply what happens in a small cafe (it is somewhat hidden unless you're looking for it), in a small town. So I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who is alternative, but if you're of the older generation, it would be a lovely little spot.
Overall
I decided to lean towards the rating because they were genuinely polite and there are no actual complaints regarding the business itself.
