I had been craving a good quality fish and chip steak sandwich with the lot for some time. When I say "the lot" I mean the lot, egg, bacon, onion, tomato, lettuce and beetroot - but haven't been able to find one anywhere. Cadell Street Fish and Chips delivered. Their "the lot" didn't include beetroot but they were happy to add it on. My steak sandwich craving was definitely satisfied and with a potato cake on the side it was the perfect lunch. Great service.

Changed ownership and they've changed the chips, not home made chips any more.back to frozen brought in chips, that weren't cooked enough. Disappointed to say the least. Butterfish was ok, potato cake was very small.
Why change the recipe when it worked so well in the past. Always travelled from Adelaide for the old style fish n chips.
Won't be back.what a shame!

Was always a favourite to visit but disappointing and not what it used to be. Fish cooked ok but chips undercooked and no longer old fashioned hand made style. Chips were the reason for our visit so will no longer be on our weekend list.

Really good fish and chip shop. Decent sized fish serves and for a good price. Would be good if the chips were wrapped separately from the fish but other than that was amazing.

Deserves a 10 star rating. Seriously. Best Fish and Chips in Australia and I've been to a few places. Fish so fresh, tender and falls apart. Potato Fritters soon good. Do yourself a favour, stop and get yourself a feed. For go the restaurant. It's so much better.

Is a cold rainy day, no one around, asked about the chips and gravy sizes between small and large, $5.50 worth of chips for a large so I went for that, cost another $5.50 for the gravy witch is abit steep if ya ask me, then gets the chips and gravy and the chips wernt cooked properly still hard in the centre and the box that came with it fell apart in the car due to the gravy

Service was prompt and fish was nicely cooked and batter was very crisp and chips were also hot.
We also tried the burger with the lot and ingredients were nicely cooked and very hot,
Will definitely buy again.

Honestly hands down the best yiros I've had in a very long time. Service was quick and the ladies were lovely. Also observing good COVID practices.
Would certainly return again. Their chips are also hand cut and delicious.

Chips were beautiful, however, the fish was disappointing. The batter was thin and not crispy and the fish was overcooked. Friendly staff and a clean venue.

You know it's good when it's busy and you know its brilliant when its fast, fresh and the staff are engaged with the customers. Loved the food.

First time here and this place was average. From what I was served, chips needed to be cooked more, calamari was a little soggy and not crisp but the fish was good - it broke apart beautifully. 20min wait before 6pm - OK. Extra point for putting in more calamari than i ordered - thanks. If I could say one thing to management, you need to cook your chips longer but I know you can't please everyone.

Edit: After inquiring, the chips come frozen but are left to defrost in a holding bay. IMO you can tell they're from frozen

I've had to modify the following review - I hadn't been for 8 months after a massive let down with their hot chips. This was how the original review started:

Been here many times over many years. The hot chips were the attraction - these were the equal best with Soto's fish shop at Semaphore.

. This was the point where the wheels fell off with this original review and I explained the let down from the expected hand cut and artfully fried hot chips that were beautifully crispy on the outside with warm fluffy rich potato insides which instead turned out to be the worst cardboard indigestion triggering mouthfuls of all kinds of horrible that I was left to ponder after I finished crying.

Well, I decided to try again on December 31,2021. I can safely say that my mind was again blown (but in the way it used to be when the world was in balance and their chips were worth driving over an hour for). They'd clearly put fresh oil in the fryers. The chips were some of the best anyone could expect to taste the world over. I ate until my tummy hurt and then I ate some more - crispy, crunchy and clean would describe the outside of these wonders with puffy delicate sumptuous clouds of wonderment on the inside. If you've ever wondered what heaven could taste like, then do yourself a favour.

Delicious fish and chips. We ordered a late lunch and they closed at 2.30pm while we ate outside. While there, numerous people came to order but found them closed until 3.30pm when they reopened. They are popular but after having food from here, can understand why. The Calamari was really good. So was the chips with gravy - the large was big enough for 2 adults and 2 kids.

New owners and the quality isn't quite as high - chips needed to be cooked longer. Also a little too greasy - fish batter stuck to paper. Sorry but we were disappointed as loved the fish and chips previously. It would take experience to get that quality but need to keep working on it.

We have been going to here for years,
As the chips as hand cut and fresh, we haven’t been for a while due to Covid etc.we knew it had been taken over so thought great. However the chips are no longer fresh hand cut, just plain frozen, we ordered butterfish, one Crumbed, one battered, the fish itself was lovely, the batter was soggy and inedible, the crumb just fell off. I hate giving bad reviews but we have travelled a fair distance for a long time, sadly this will be our last
