British Hotel

After giving a five star review around six years ago to the then recent new owners, i walked in a couple of weeks ago (Jan 2024 mid-week) to be greeted at the front bar by a very ordinary unalluring young women with very poor customer service skills. I didnt bother ordering a beer, an instead hot footed it up to the Lord Melb for a few beers, where my wife and son later joined me and we spent around $120 overall on several drinks and a early dinner for the three of us.
Very disappointing to receieve a rude greeting from this woman, after spending alot of money here over the years before attending many cricket and footy matches, i guess its not her business!

Nice local pub feel, with amazing service from a particular gentleman who made us feel incredibly welcome and made the experience for us. Due to him we will definitely be back.

I had the kangaroo. I love trying exotic foods in my adventure (s). The dish was lovely. Appealing visional, and wonderful flavors. Service was very attentive. I highly suggest exploring outside one's comfort zone in trying unique foods.

5 people for dinner. Not a busy night. 1 meal came late after I had to ask the waitress where it was. 4 of us had finished our meals before it arrived. A half arsed, sorry. A little disappointing

Food is nice customer support decent overall not a bad experience, btw rhey have the best Guinness mushroom pie best I've had

The British Hotel hosted my son’s 18th birthday, the staff, service and food was outstanding!
Many of our guests had never been to this hotel before and were very impressed.
Thank you for making the occasion extra special!
We look forward to dining there again!

Ate here several times in one week during a recent visit to Adelaide. Had several dishes and all were great. Several gluten free options. Staff were friendly.

Beautiful place, really close to the center of ADL.

My partner and I came here for our anniversary. We ordered caesar salad, beef scotch fillet and beef sirloin served with broccolini, chat potatoes. Daine sauce was excellent for steaks. My partner really enjoyed his steak as it was perfectly cooked the way he liked. However, my steak was a bit over cooked in that I was asking for medium, but it tasted like medium well. Otherwise, the atmosphere was great as well as service. Waiter and waitress were attentive.

Wonderful old pub with lovely atmosphere. Meals were delicious. Best kangaroo dish I’ve ever had.

It’s been a while since I finally got to come try the pub out since the new ownership from the previous owner.

The highlights to begin with would be how amazing the staff are from the lovely ladies in the restaurant section Nadia, Estella & Vittoria then to the bar area where Wyatt, James & Reece were having plenty of laughs and creating an atmosphere where all patrons felt comfortable and got great service. Also can’t forget the kitchen team who do great work and cooked the food absolutely beautifully. We tried the lamb skewers for entree and then had a beef & Guiness pie and barramundi.

The prices have gone up quite a bit since previous ownership but would still recommend, they have definitely made some improvements such as installing air conditioning in the restaurant area, we did see that it was leaking water on some patrons before they got moved and had to put a tea towel down.

Beautiful historic building and a gem of a pub to visit for a few relaxing drinks. The food is also excellent.

Been here many times. The atmosphere and service are fantastic. Nice, casual environment which makes you feel very welcome. The food can be pretty hit and miss, but generally better than average. Every flavour of the chicken wings tastes exactly the same, with no spice, which is disappointing. Great for dietary restrictions though.

I was always told to say nothing if you have nothing good to say so.won't be back, new owner, no clue!

This used to be my favourite pub when I lived in Adelaide. Glad to see it's as good as I remembered it, even after 35 years!

Excellent place for a bite to eat or a few beers. Food is always great and a large selection of beers, wines and spirits. Highly recommend if you are on the area.

This pub used to be amazing with the previous owners, but now the new ones removed the char grilled octopus and kangaroo off the menu - very disappointing, this has become just like any other "pub".

Waited 1.5 hours for meal to arrive then the steak was cold and had to send back and wait for another one. Then they forgot one of the meals completely so had to wait 20 minutes for that to arrive. Food was ok but nothing special.ordered another beer and waited but didn't arrive and when asked again it had been delivered to another table. Then ordered two large wines which they then tried to charge 21 dollars a glass for. Will never return again and definately do not recommend.

So sad that the french boy had to leave for not being a mixologist.
Good place for a Friday drink

Poor, slow service, good food, however. Prices, outrageous regarding wine. $21.50/ glass of a $60 bottle. Sod off.
