Akimitsu Australia reviews
57Food tastes alright, but the price is not worth it, I order a pork rice and there is only 3 little thin meat, and it costs 17
Went there for early dinner. Ordered assorted tempuras are yummy but a bit pricey. It would be great if they can add a little bit more. Beef Donburi are too gluggy. It’s too much beef sauce at the bottom. Service are fine. When i wanna order, staff would always be there. Place for 2 people.
Loved it here! The food was so good and generous portions. Our waiter, Mason, was also amazing and really helpful. We will definitely be back!
Cost and very clean restaurant. Great value for what you get and the quality of the food is top notch. It’s a bit noisy and the staff a little busy to be too attentive. Will be back, had a good meal.
The place is very clean and nice, staff not much attentive. The food is not the best, we had a lot of rice and the food tastes was not really the best. Considering quality/ price doesn't match.
Very good dining experience, the service just like the food, very well balance. The only drawback the don is small for the price and the share platter is not worth the value. The lobster in the tempura is small, mushy and tasteless being imported product.
This was the cutest cafe I've ever been to. With its pink and florally decor and swing chairs! We just had herbal teas because it was late in the evening. But such a great atmosphere with good back ground music.
Great quality produce. The tempura is as good as they claim. We had prawns that were delicious and sweet, light crispy batter. The vegetables had lovely flavour and great seasoning as did the prawns. We also had pork gyōzas that were juicy and full of flavour. The karage chicken used Thigh meat so very moist with crisp coating. Loved it all. Bookings recommended as it can get very full but people move quickly. Good noise level so you can talk. Really worth a visit.
The best tasting Japanese food I have eaten in Adelaide so far. I had the deluxe Tendon and it was fantastic. Definitely will be going back.
Tried salmon don, tastes gorgeous, quick service. The downside however is too much rice in comparison to the portion of salmon. There were 7-8 very thin pieces of salmon on the top and the rest 3/4 of the bowel was filled with rice. It’s hardly worth $20.
It takes years for them to get your order ready. We walked in at 7 pm and the first dish was served at 7.35. Interestingly, the one who walked in around 7.20 get everything she ordered by 7.30.food is okay but the service is poor. Only one Japanese in this restaurant while other staffs are Chinese and Malaysian.
Food here is great and the staff are nice as well. Just the other day, they gave me an extra serving because they felt that they gave me a small piece on my original order.
Came here on weekday dinner and weekend lunch. Dinner was busier but the food came within a reasonable time. Ordered ebi tempura don, soba and udon. The best tempura I've ever had. Crispy but tender. The size of the prawns were pretty big, so 5 serves of prawn tempura and few veggie tempura were more than enough for my Asian stomach. I sometimes have prawn allergies if it's not fresh, but I had none. Soba and udon were ok. Service was decent. Although the price can be expensive for a bowl of rice but it's worth to try.
Almost halfway there.
There is much to like about Akimatsu. It has the possibility of being a tight oasis of Japan as you approch the seedier end of Hindley street. Instead it feels more like Japan awfully corrupted BY Hindley street.
The kitchen is open plan, and watching my meal being prepared in a space far from being clean is very off-putting. The metal splashbacks are streaked with grease and fat. The rice cookers have krud caked under them, and fingerprints smeared over their surfaces. All other hard-to-reach surfaces are dusty or worse.
The food? Uninspired, thick overdone tempura batter. The bare minimum effort is given to presentation. The staff (both chefs and waiters) simply do not care.
The only saving grace is the great selection of sake. Unfortunately it's all down hill from there
Avoid this one. It pains me to say, because I really wanted to like this restaurant.
Great little place but seem to be still finding their feet. Expect different meals to be served at different times on the same table. At our lunch the first person served had finished and left before the last person got their meal - which is really nice food though. One entree they keep stuffing up is the steak. It's not cut all the way through so you get three pieces instead of one when eating with chopsticks. The have knives and forks for those who can't use chopsticks. Am sure in time this will be THE place to go for lunch or dinner.
Food average - 3 stars. Despite the premium pricing of their food, still charges extra service charge for Sundays/public holiday and credit card/debit card payment - 1 star. Average score 2 stars. Can get better food elsewhere for that price without the additional charges!
Chashu Don and Gyoza Pork. I could not resist the Gyoza so it's missing already some bits. Looking forward for the next visit.
Went again - 5th time, looking to enjoy a good dinner. Ordered entrée and Steak Don. First I have received the main dish after waiting around 20 minutes. Steak Don. 6 minutes after finishing it they brought me my entrée. The waitress just dropped it on the table and ran away pretending to be really busy without any apology. My colleagues order arrived 11 minutes after I finished eating. Anyone that arrived after us received their food sooner than my colleague.
So if you get greeted by a nice smiling guy, you are lucky. Order from him and everything should be fine (first 4 visits), if greeted by a young lady without a smile I would go eat somewhere else. Of course my personal opinion and point of view.
Changing from 5 stars to 3. Food was 5 star - awesome, service 0 stars.
