I somehow walked past this restaurant for years and never checked it out.

Had a lovely dinner here early in the evening which (opening time basically) meant we had the place mostly to ourselves. Service was attentive and it was nice to not feel pressured to order quickly.

I loved my eel rice bowl and the egg was perfectly done.

I came here with a friend who was allergic to eggs and was immensely satisfied and grateful for the patience and kindness of the staff as they catered to his allergies. Despite our odd requests (a boiled egg), the service staff patiently consulted with our group. When the food arrived, the broth was flavourful and the fish cake delicious, and even though my friend's food arrived with mayonnaise containing egg, the staff willingly changed his dish without complaint.

Truly worth coming here if you want amazing service, delicious food and a lively atmosphere accentuated by great staff.

Awesome food and service. I enjoyed the karage chicken, katsu chicken and a beer. Service was great with everyone smiling and happy to help.

Will be a regular when I'm in Adelaide

This beautiful place never disappoints. We would like to be able to go more frequently. Today on our anniversary, we ate very well. The service, as always, is excellent. Will the owner be the one who takes the orders? I don't know, but she is excellent, and I wish more places had service and quality like this place: efficient, fast, friendly, and everything delicious.

This place is on the more expensive side, but they don't offer split bills/pay so coming here make sure to have at least one financially stable person to foot the bill

Pretty gross. Chicken tasted off in the oykadon. The beef krokke was powdery. Gave up on the other stuff we ordered.

Walked past this store and saw all the awards the Japanese store has won therefore wanted to try this out. Tempura was done perfectly, probably the best Ive had in Australia so far. Katsudon was good, didnt expect it to be amazing but it was still tasty! Recommend the lobster and oyster tempura

Loved this surprise discovery in the Adelaide CBD opposite our hotel. Akimitsu is a really authentic Japanese Izakaya restaurant with a cool vibe and an extensive traditional menu range. The yakitori was exactly as we remember it from when we lived in Japan and the fish Tempura was really excellent. Our lovely server, Tammy was very professional, attentive and personable. We will definitely go back again. Highly recommended.

Consistently beautiful Japanese food and quiet attention of lovely staff. After 4 visits I highly recommend Akimitsu. Moderately priced too.

What can we say.they totally deserve the award.we love the Kingfish Don. Have tried to recreate it back home but with no success. The chicken karaage is very well marinated and fried to perfection. Tempura is to die for.a wonderful dinner for our wedding anniversary.

We enjoy the vegetable tempura and prawn tempura. Will not probably order the lobster tempura anymore because we enjoy the prawn tempura better and much flavour than the lobster. Nice ambience and clean inside.

Decided to give this a try base in the good reviews. Maybe because it was a Monday and the main chef is off.
Tempura was very mediocre. Had much much better ones at other places. Grill beef was over cook. The best dish was probably the salad.
Definitely not the no. 1 tempura as they advertised.

Good, quick service. Polite staff. Got an unagi bowl. Eel was tasty, but a lot of rice vs.the small amount of other ingredients. Happy with the price though:)

Couldn’t ask for better customer service and dining environment. However the food was a bit lacking in taste and overall guaranteed authenticity. Food looks ready-made and with inconsistencies in temperature it would be a wild guess that it is microwaved. Would not come here again for Japanese food despite such an ambiance environment and great customer service.

What a great surprise to find this place. Perfect atmosphere, perfect service, perfect food.it really is a very good place and we will definitely return.

I read some recent reviews and I honestly don't understand them, the service is excellent: they greet you, they take you to your table, they give you time to choose your food, they take your order, they bring your food to you, then when you're done you go to the cashier, You pay and they say thank you in Japanese. What else do you want? As a consumer, for me this type of service is the best, efficient.

Pretty good spot on Hindley to get some grub before a night on the town, never had a bad meal here.

Can get pricey if you’re a hungry little character though but hey that’s the way it goes!

Honestly one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten, sent me straight into a food coma. The flavours were spot on and the ingredients were very high quality. The price is amazing for the amount of food you get, Recommending this to all my friends! My favourites: karaage chicken over rice, the steak over rice and the salmon. SOOO DELICIOUS

Lovely staff who were very patient with the table near us who had a LOT of requests. My meal was delicious, great flavour and well cooked. My husband said his food was ok but when he tried mine he had regrets he didn't order the same, stating his was a bit bland. Overall it was really nice and we definitely would go back!

Superlicious tempura. We had the set for 2 and it comes with rice, miso soup and pickled cucumber each.

Karaage chicken was good. However I was quite disappointed to find a long black hair (definitely not mine) in my steak don dish. Wasn't able to simply request a replacement as I ordered delivery.
