Akimitsu Australia reviews
57Absolutely amazing. We had tempura veg and the tempura Delux box with lobster tail. Everything was delicious and so fresh. 10/10
Absolutely delicious and delighted, your greeted in Japanese and your welcomed to enjoy a great atmosphere and great food.
Aburi Salmon Don is absolutely fantastic, I wish ppl can try it out here! Especially the wasabi and the semi raw egg in the don are definitely a plus in this bowl!
Yakitori in here is also fascinated as the chicken thigh is huge, although the sauce is a bit salty but it’s worth trying!
Price is fine, a bit higher than average, but it’s a worth trying place!
We loved our 2 entree & 3 mains. The pork belly our least favourite.
Our waitress was fabulous, multitasking with takeaway.
We enjoyed our experience here. A bonus to use the Ent book app voucher.
The taste of the food is declining compared to previous years. The Katsu is overcooked and the aburi don is not soft which gave weird chewy taste compared to last time when it is really soft and fresh. The customer service is still well done.
Had a delicious rice bowl with beef (Gyudon)! Mouth watering shredded beef with the egg and ginger. Out of this world! Service wasn't bad. Waitress was kind and service was quick. Would definitely recommend this place for a nice Japanese dinner.
I had no expectations of this joint when I rocked up but it's actually cracked ngl.
This is the closest I've been to fine dining in 5 years. Just to clarify that is a compliment, this place is amazing.
We ordered a seafood tempura platter for 2. Everything was rather good, except one piece of fish which was apparently spoilt - it had a bad smell and taste. This was unfortunate and really spoilt the overall impression. For the price, we really expected for the food to be perfectly fresh. No discount or remedy was offered by the staff, the waiter simply stated he was "sorry to hear that".
I want to think this was just a one-off, but I would find it difficult to take the risk again given the premium price.
Akimitsu Australia in Henley Street is the pioneer Japanese Franchised Eatery in Australia. Desmond and his Partner Sandra are the Co-Founders of the Australia sector.
Dinner was amazing! Congrats to Desmond! Special mentioning their Gyoza, Tempura batter in general and the most of all Aburi King Fish, Love them. The balancing the the favour is on point. The batter is light and fluffy and not oily at all. Well balanced! The perfection in the Aburi King Fish preparation is top knot. Cleanliness is superb. Service is wonderful! Garnishing is well dressed. Nothing more I can say, except “Amazine”. I would even give an International Standard of a 3 Stars Restaurant.
Food is just so so. Not fresh. And it requires 10% surcharge on any debit / credit card transaction, which is the highest I’ve ever heard of! Ridiculous: (
Amazing tempura! We had the seafood tempura set for 2. The family and I enjoyed it so much with juicy fish and lobster a d sweet vegetables. Definite would visit again with the family.
I actually enjoy coming to Akimitsu for some katsu curry and tempura. Of course it does not meaure to the ones you get from Japan but due to lack of variety this is not too bad to come to. Food is flavourful, the restaurant is clean and staff are friendly. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the food is tiny bit pricy for the type of food you order since it is not considered fine dinning. You can get away with just ordering one main dish per person but if you are really hungry order the karage chicken, it is good.
$18.50 for the steak tendon which came with less than 100g of meat on my serving - 5 wafer thin pieces of poor quality steak. The only other ingredient is basically rice so this is crazy to me. Flavour is bland also. Can't recommend this to anyone.
Wanting to try here for some time, But when I did Was quite disappointed. This is A restaurant ran by Chinese chefs making Japanese style food, All good, but I didn't find it authentic at all, and it was expensive for what it was. There are much better authentic Japanese bars, Izakayas, like EN, or Nishiki. I doubt I'd return here
Very nice quality ingredients and great food. Enjoyed an array of dishes including miso soup, karaage chicken, takoyaki and steak. All were very nicely done. Thank you
One of the best Japanese food you can find in Adelaide. I've been to Japan before and have a lot of experience with the cuisine. Eating the food here at Akimitsu really takes me back there. The flavours here are incredibly authentic, refined, and delicious. I saw a lot of reviews saying the menu was pricey, but I feel like those complaints do this restaurant a bit of injustice. The food is very much worth the price and you can tell a lot of care has been taken with it. I've seen other places charge much more for lower quality products. The portions may seem small at first, but they're surprisingly filling if you take your time to enjoy the food, and I'm saying this as a big eater. Extremely high quality food - underrated business.
Wowza! I grabbed some takeaway from here on the recommendation of a friend. The food was not only sensational, but the staff were amazing. They were friendly, professional and extremely helpful in selecting just the right amount of food and right type of food for my tastes. I'm not overly familiar with Japanese cuisine so their recommendations were very welcomed and spot-on. The venue itself is pristine and comfortable. I'm looking forward to going back there again.
I went in with high expectations seeing the Akimitsu name. As I can't travel to Japan now, I was expecting something of high quality.
Unfortunately it was not so. The tempura was still tasty and crispy. But the quality is about the same grade as other cheaper eateries like Mappen in Sydney. Some pieces have been burnt with charred mark on it with is not acceptable for a high end Japanese tempura.
The rice was also not cooked well. Probably from normal rice cooker as some bits are clumped together with too much water with consistency of congee.
If it was $10 I would give it a 5 star but at $31.50 (I ordered the lobster tendon) it's a bit pricey
Food was great, and looked good really. But quite pricey.
We had an issue with the entertainment book, apparently they don’t accept the voucher anymore even though it’s still in the app. Because of that we ended up an extra $20 down from what we expected. It may not have been their fault.but they made no attempt to improve our situation. It didn’t feel good as a customer, so I doubt we’ll be back.
Place was small and clean. There was only one floor staff to attend everyone so it was a bit hard to ask for water refill every time and you feel bad. Ordered the tempura set which was quite greasy and dry. It didnt come with any miso soup at all, so if you don't like eating dry, definitely not this one. The dipping sauce was nice. The salmon aburi rice was standard, price is high. If you are planning to use the entertainment book, ask them before getting a table if they take it or not. We saw the buy 1 get 1 main course deal on our book so we went in without confirming, knowing that if they're in the book that means it's all good and running. At the checkout, we were made so embarassed that the book got rejected and they checkout staff had to shout across to the open bar confirming that they "don't do the deals anymore" in front of everyone.so we paid the full amount. (They didn't even try to accomodate us on a goodwill and blame the entertainment book). Very unprofessional. We contacted the book company and now this restaurant is in the book, offering 25% off.how dodgy.
