A Hereford Beefstouw reviews
60 Tomahawk was top-notch! The steak was cooked to perfection. Sides very good and had a few beers sharing this bad boy with one other person for lunch.
Food and service was great. I put 5 stars for the atmosphere, service and food, and even though the restaurant, location and vibe is good, the big place for improvement is having more people there…. I have been here a few times over the last few months on a Friday at lunch time and it has been completely empty. For dinner, I have never been here and that might be the prime time, but nothing bad to say at all, but if there was more people here during lunch, the atmosphere would be better. Other than that little critique, this place is great.
Recommend highly. Every time I’ve been here it’s been great.
Great food with friendly attentive service, special mention to Raff for being fun and having great recommendations. I will definitely visit again the next time in Adelaide.
Outstanding steaks, tasty sides, great desserts, large quality drinks selections, good atmosphere but a little noisy, service friendly enough but a little inattentive at times. Very expensive and somewhat small portions.
An amazing place if you want to splurge or have an anniversary or birthday! Amazing atmosphere, outside dining with cover & heaters is a very nice touch.great customer service and even better quality & variety of meats.bit of a wait for the food but the taste & quality definitely make up for it. 100% recommend?
First time visitor to this restaurant so I didnt know what to expect. When I entered there were only 2 other couples and a family of 6 in the restaurant.
As I was the first to arrive I was greeted warmly by the waitress and asked about the booking and then shown to our table. The rest of our group arrived shortly after. The menu had a variety of starters to choose from catering for different dietary requirements. Mains were predominantly steak of varying cuts and varying prices, starting at $44 to well over $100
I ordered the 250g eye fillet steak cooked medium with a choice of either Bearnaise, Pepper or Mushroom sauces. I selected Mushroom
The sides selection was a choice seasonal vegetables, 2 salads, duo of potatoes with brown butter and chives or chips. Im so glad that I ordered some sides as when my steak arrived, the steak and a small dish of sauce is all that was on the plate. Most places that i have been to usually serve a steak with the steak on a bed of mash or polenta with a few veges on the side of it (eg Wine centre or Adelaide Oval) Never having been to this restaurant, it would have been nice if the staff taking my order could have explained to me what I actually get on plate when i order steak and gravy, instead of giving me a puzzled look and asking if i wanted any sides with it. On the positive side, my steak was done to perfection, tender and juicy with a very tasty mushroom gravy and a very delicious duo of potato and vegetable sides. Now knowing how to order a meal at Hereford Beefstouw I would definitly come here again.
Average experience and food. No salad bar anymore and has lost its uniqueness and experience. Ordered the $180 Tomahawk Steak which is meant to be carved at the table and because they couldn’t fit it in front of us they carved it near the kitchen. The other table next to us had theirs carved at their table. Asked for medium rare - was definitely rare-blue. Best thing was the veggies as a side but a very small serve. Never offered a second drink and most staff were quite unprofessional for this type of dining. When we arrived we were pointed out our table not taken to it. Our experience was more of a pub experience not a restaurant. Went here a few years ago and the experience was unique and fine dining.
Please be advised that their meals come with only meat on the plate, chips are no longer included with a steak, so you get a plate with just 1 steak on it. You pay for any sides you want. Service and staff were lovely, I have already spoken to staff about this issue. I’ve seen other reviews on here and it can be very misleading. Meals do not look like this anymore. Very sad
$65 for a sirloin that was full of gristle. Was disgusting. I mentioned to the staff, no discount offered. Won't be back, incredibly disappointing, in fact bordering on disgusting
Food was good, but had no seafood option such as lobster tail and natural oysters, service have to work on, went in with a group of 5, asked multiple times for drinks and to order food, was not busy.
Service was fine but something about the staffs made the overall atmosphere a downgrade into a local pub vibe. We got the t-bone steak medium rare however, it turned out quite raw and under. Ribs were good. Crème Brule was generous and amazing.
Good atmosphere, friendly staff. Steak were spot on the way we ordered. But the waiting time to have our meals ready was near one hour
I have been here three times now first two occasions were great the third was awful, Small flies kept land ing on my food the steak was bland and a little cold and the service was very poor. I called a waitress over twice to which I was completely ignored the third time trying to get her attention I got the eye roll and a huff. At the end of the experience when paying the bill in full I explained all and no care was given and the waiter just walked off without any form of empathy. Don't think I will spend my hard earned money here again.
Disappointing service and food. Steak was very under cooked. Waiting staff had way too much attitude for our liking.
It was ok but nothing real special considering the price. I had the 100 day aged steak and to be honest I didn't find it much different to a steak you get from the pub and the drinks were quite expensive. On a good note the staff were great.
Had a wonderful experience here and very much loved the Eye Fillet we got. I definitely recommend it. The waiting staff were also very friendly and quite attentive.
Had the steak here ages ago and the experience was great. Had it recently to celebrate our anniversary but the quality seems to degrade.
With windy and cold weather one expect heater to be put out but the team was ignorant. Indoor dining was said to be full for our party of 12 but til we finish eating, the place was still half empty. Maybe due to covid restriction?
Waited over an hour for our steaks. Had to approach staff and they said our steaks orders never went thru. Steaks were mediocre. Not worth it anymore. Place has gone downhill.
The very best steaks in Adelaide. I recommend the 150 aged, grain-fed beef fillet (medium-rare). You will not be disappointed.
Was good not great or outstanding. Service was good food was ok not great small sides. Slightly disappointed to previous experience.
The place was super warm. Couldn’t feel the air conditioning is on at all. I would spend the same money at fine-dinning restaurant.
