Townsville RSL Club

Not a super fan or how the building is reorganised. But still a good place for a quiet drink in some areas. Sadly too much is now devoted to pokies and sports gambling. I know gambling is a money spinner but destroying the ANZAC Bar where we old diggers hung out is pretty bad. The same with not re-opening Lavaracks. Shameful really.

Very good menu, discounts if you sign up, very good selection of pokies. Only downside is there isn't a decent outdoor area.

Great venue for a couple of drinks and a meal. Good idea to support them if you can. Got smashed in the Townsville flooding and subsequent dealings with their insurers.

I saw an intellectually disabled man get kicked out for not wearing a mask. Im sorry I didn't say anything especially because I saw others without masks and I thought certain ppl were exempt.

Went with girlfriends to this venue who were going to a male review thingy. A completely filthy little boy touched my back. When I asked him not to touch me he said I was in the wrong place for that. Disgusting. This place should be watched for inappropriate dealings.

Had the fish and chips and got very sick as soon as I got home. My sister got the same and she was sick. Others had different meals and they were ok.

We are normally very satisfied with the meals at Garrisons. The Surf and Turf and
other main meals are excellent.

Today we made the mistake of ordering the seniors roast pork. It came with a strange looking roast cauliflower covered in cheese with imbedded burnt broccoli. It was inedible. The pork was tough and the pumpkin burnt.
Not good enough.

We had dinner there, roast of the day. I thought that 1 piece of potato, the size of a 50 cent piece, was extremely poor to have, considering all of the other vegies you got.
I asked if I could get some more potato, No! 1 piece is all you are allowed.
Rather disappointed.

Rude staff at the bar when ordering drinks. Overpriced food and a very small menu.
No prices for non members on the menu only member prices.

Disappointed that Lavarack restaurant has shut down. The staff were great but the food is cafe style not much better than coffee club or something similar. The club is clean and neat and looks great after the floods. I really loved the army displays on the walls.

Went for a meal last night with hubby and a friend was shocked at the roast of day size was meant for a child 2 tiny potatoes 1 tiny piece of pumkin meat placed on top of these vegetables to make it look bigger.
My meal came out cold I asked to have it heated up came out abit warmer not hot.
Come on guys u need to improve 100%

Lovely food. Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. Very accommodating for functions. You can take a cake. They cut it for you. The blooming teas are amazing and pretty. High teas are worth the money.

RSL is a good club to go to. The problem is there is no lounge area to sit and have a drink and watch the Keno. Downstairs the tables are reserved for the bingo. Down the back is the sports bar with sporting channels. If you go upstairs you would think the lounge would have soft music in the background and is quiet but no you have cleaners vacuuming around you and horse racing on the speakers wit sports playing on the screens. Where is the longe bar?

Rude lady at front door. Did not have half the drinks that we ordered. Food was over cooked by a week. Will never return to to over priced dive again

We held my mother-in-laws wake today in the Spectators Bar. Melissa was fantastic to deal with at a difficult time for the family. The platters were very well presented and plentiful, the bar staff were friendly and welcoming.our overall experience rates 5 stars. Highly recommend

We both had roast of the day, "Pork", was nice. Atmosphere was fantastic. Friendly staff and service.

The RSL is a great place to go for dinner, the food is nice and full of flavour. There is however a couple of things that could be improved. No: 1 is there needs to be more variety on the menu No: 2 the dance floor should be bigger than it currently is aswell as the stage being a little bit bigger to allow the various bands that play there to have more room to move.

I went to the new gaming room for the first time and Roslyn and Luke had the most fantastic customer service, they were genuine and very helpful, definitely your best assets to the company:)

Pretty disappointing. As a visitor to Townsville I would not recommend. We chose an RSL specifically for a roast meal. Asked for a roast of the day with chips and vegetables for my friend and a pizza for myself. We didn't complain when chips and salad came out because we feel uncomfortable complaining about food. We get roast meals out quite often and this one was very disappointing. While eating I get my notification from the bank and I notice I am charged more than I expected. It's just a few $$$ per meal but get the menu to double check. Now I know clubs usually offer members discounts but this menu was just priced for members and apparently visitors are just charged more. No price for visitors and one for members like most normal clubs.
I feel like visitors are not welcome.
My pizza was huge. It should have been advertised as for two. Way too much for one person so I asked for a takeaway box which pretty much everyone who orders would need. I was handed 2 plastic containers and left to man handle half a pizza into them with my hands. The same guy who took my order bought the containers out so I mentioned the salad and he apologized and said he was unsure why it came out wrong but asked if I wanted to speak to a manager. Well the 20 minuite online conflict resolution course this "manager" did was obviously a waste of time. No sincere apology or even understanding of why I was upset. Just excuse after excuse

Definitely wouldn’t recommend. Waited over an hour for our meals and when I asked how much longer was told chef couldn’t find docket. Guy on register said oh here we go again. Got money refunded and left hungry and disappointed
