Ronin Academy

Stumbled upon Ronin Academy during an airport scroll, eager to keep up my Muay Thai game while on the go. Shot them a message on FB, got the green light for a casual visit, and snagged some loaner gloves and shin pads. Rolled into the Muay Thai class not knowing what to expect, but Ton, the Thai maestro, ran a seriously cool session. Picked up slick techniques and pushed my comfort zone. If you're local or just passing through, checking out Ronin Academy is a must. Total cool vibes – big thanks!

Went to a BJJ class as a casual. Learned a sweep from guard. Low key awesome. Good people, and the whole facility had a friendly, open learning environment.
Thinking of taking the dive into BJJ, this is a good way.

Highly recommend this place good with kids. Very well trained professionals. Good to meet other people got a gym and training sessions definitely have a look at getting yourself, your kids, or even friends or family to join and i hope u see this and give it a go.

I’m from Sydney but was passing through Townsville for work. I found this place and saw it has a lot of nogi BJJ classes available. I dropped in un announced and asked if I could train with them. They said “of course! ” and were super welcoming.

All of the students were very friendly and the coach was extremely friendly and made me feel very welcome.

I’d highly recommend this gym, check out their time table as they have a lot of other things on other than BJJ.

I’m genuinely looking forward to training here again next time I’m in Townsville!

Amazing kids MMA and Wrestling. The wrestling class is the highlight of my sons week. Really loved the welcoming atmosphere and family run business. Love the flexibility of payments.

Awesome Family friendly and welcoming staff are always friendly and helpful and coaches as well as other gym members are super supportive and encouraging 10/10 would recommend for anyone wanting to step out of their comfort zone and are just unsure where to begin

An honest and down to earth gym, with honest and down to earth equipment, Staff and Members.
No poseurs. No hogging of equipment by members Instagraming, Snapchatting etc. Staff and Members are friendly and helpful. Also a safe and fun environment for children. The facilities are clean. Recommend

I signed my 2 boys and myself up last week and we all can’t get enough. They were a little intimidated on the first day but Spence and Kellie made us feel so welcome, they can never get back soon enough! Awesome valu too for what you get for your money.

Classes were good, very knowledgeable and welcoming to new comers.

However, due to injury at the facility I was no longer able to attend. After having a doctors certificate to cancel my membership I was charged 2 extra payments.
Phone calls and texts weren't returned and not refunded the extra payments and now ignored completely.

Unfortunate really. I did really like the staff and the classes here and would have returned once I had my surgery and healed.

During our time here the facility has always been clean and well presented, instructors are all industry qualified and extremely professional. Great overall family training centre well suited to meet the martial arts needs of North Queensland specifically Townsville.

Everyone is is very welcoming and friendly especially to new people. There is a vast variety of equipment in the weights section.
