62 This was definitely not what I was expecting. Loud, dingey and unsafe.
Firstly, the most important thing for you to consider before booking, no matter your need for accommodation, is how safe this place is. In lieu physical keys you are given a code which is literally the number of your room forwards then backwards! There is nothing stopping someone who knows this from coming onto the grounds and entering your room at will.
The hostel (which was marketed as a hotel) also played latino EDM until 10pm on the random Tuesday night we stayed. We were told about the party when we arrived which is better than no warning at all but had we have known earlier, we would have picked somewhere else as we would have preferred to have stayed somewhere where we could actually hold a conversation without shouting in our private room.
The room was only half clean and there were no full sized towels. All of this was $160 for one night. Do better.
Well where can i start
Owner does not think there is a problem with anything
Good for partying all night backpackers not for anyone else
Woke up to the whole accommodation going off in all rooms with a siren of smoke alarms ……no fire!
The very noisy back packers were still heard partying at 3 am
So not much respect and not much sleep for us
The next morning the communal kitchen was a filthy mess
THE HOUSE OF TERROR:
You can't judge the cleaning of this place because there's no such a thing. I stayed three days and nobody ever cleaned my room, bathroom and floor were always dirty. Also, the kitchen fridge was leaking which was not only disgusting but dangerous as well.
I been asked to move to a new room with dirty bed sheets from the previous guest and they refused to change them, as according to the owner "they made the bed but somebody has just messed it. " One of the housekeepers replaced the sheets but gave me one with a blood stain on it, and again, the owner refused to change it.
Finally, the owner told me she was sick of me asking for things when I was paying so little and asked me to pack my staff and leave the place when I was a reservation for 15 days more. I told her I only wanted a clean room and proper bedsheets but she said I was being rude.
Everybody in the hostel was afraid of this crazy woman as she was threatening everybody just for leaving a dirty plate in the kitchen when actually they are not even capable of cleaning the rooms.
Those who have been in this hostel last year said it used to be a nice place, but this new owners don't now know to manage it, they are arrogant and uneducated people who never apologise or care for the customers.
I know there's no many hostels in Port Douglas but please backpackers, if you can choose, DON'T STAY WITH THIS HORRIBLE CRAZY PEOPLE, we don't deserve this treatment.
Booked a room not realising it's for girls only, rang the owner Kevin straight away to explain however he refused to refund my money. Ads said free cancellations. You should indicate on your ad's heading as this is a trap.
The room was clean but not so clean for paying 87$. There was a lot of long brown hairs all over the room and we are two blond people. The blue towels meet some bleaching liquid, that looks not so good. The bed was damage on the sides. And the inkl. Breakfast was just a joke. All cups and glasses was dirty. So it’s better to stay in a share room for just the half price and just for a night over but not for longer. The share kitchen was also really dirty we used our one plates. The gas grill not worked really well.
2 nights stay, 320 dollars. Aircons are off all day, 7am to 5 pm, hot water is shut off at night. Re starts at 8am. No allocated car parks. As if u move your car, someone will take your park. Is now nothing but backpackers stay. Place could use a gardener also.
I loved the restaurant and bar by the pool, pool table and large TV, table tennis table the whole vibe. Very nice set up. Value for money and nice meals too.the room didn't seem very clean but acceptable for the price I guess. I recommend this place for a budget holiday!
Reasonable price accommodation for the area, bit run down from advertised pics, people live onsite, seems more appropriate for backpackers than families.
It was a good stay, but I consider they could be more clean. The toilet of the private room was a little bit dirty. Out of that, it is a quiet and comfortable place where to stay on holidays. The receptionists were polite and helpful.
Awesome place. Keith is a character and has a lot of knowledge of the area.
Great for kids qith heaps of games etc room is awesome. Great value for money. Great pool. Free breaky. Stoked!
Peaceful environment to relax and chill. Free breakfast is worth getting up for. A Spacious and comfortable hideaway with diversions scattered throughout.
Really nice relaxed communal atmosphere. Great value for money! The owner was super nice and gave recommendations on things to do in the area. We checked out in the morning before spending the day on the Reef and they let us leave the car in the parking for the whole day anyway. We had a great time staying here:)
Comfortable, clean shared rooms and nice bathroom. Good facilities. One big downside was rats in the kitchen at night.
Pretty clean and confy, is super handy having the shower inside the room. Fridges could be bigger, though, but in general super nice and friendly. The guy in the reception was super cool.
Great little place, walking distaance from town. Comfy, clean, friendly, well run and presented. Has its own self cook kitchen and its own eating area. Public telly room, and quiet lounge or hang out area. Guys were super friendly, helpful and informative, pointed us in the right direction for tours and ideas to do. If your staying long or working in the area stay here and enjoy the help and service.
Great place to stay short or long term, nestled amidst greenery, lush vegetation. The Management & Staff are so friendly and helpful, ready to cater for all your needs. The Lodge & its rooms are very spacious, tidy and clean. There is plenty of space indoor & outdoor to relax, very quiet and ideal location only few minutes walk to 4 Miles beach & to the small town.
Good price. A little run down, will be interesting to see what the new management does with the place.
Very nice hostel with great staff and pretty good facilities. Everything feels a bit old but that sort of adds to the ambience of the place.
Relatively well located.
Convenient, clean and with good amenities and breakfast. Ray the owner is super (perfect level) friendly and helpful. Quiet, relaxed and decent location, kitchen, books, TV room, swimming pool and pool table. My room key didn't work but my room mates were super chill and we shared the only working key. Would definitely stay there again.
Clean, comfortable and affordable. Decent complimentary continental breakfast. Free WiFi. Friendly staff.
