Castaways Cafe and Store

Kitchen was closed for maintenance. Seemed to be lots of alcohol to purchase (good for other but we dont drink) but not much other stuff. Sucks cause we were really looking forward to a good feed we saw on Instagram

We dropped in 3 times for food. The first time we arrived at 2pm to be told the kitchen was shut- at 2pm, like right then and "everything has just be turned off". The next day we tried again and got some very lovely, large burgers and very nice chips and drinks $120. The next day we cut our swim short so we would make it there before the 2pm cut off to be greeted by a sign that the kitchen was closed because they had no supplies.
So just be aware that the kitchen is good when it's good but 2 out of 3 times you probably won't be able to order food / spend your money here. Business must be good.

Great little shop and cafe located at Bulwer on Moreton Island. Friendly staff and a good selection of cafe foods and snacks. Store has lots of essential items plus some clothing, snorkel and fishing gear and some 4x4 essentials as well. Drop in for an icecream or cold drink.

There was no place to sit to eat the food as the tables were closed off, which they didn't need to be given restrictions are eased.

One of the staff members so so rude. We had visited 3 days that day and each time she was the same. It was such a turn off and we were so polite and we were all scared to go back in, but unfortunately it was the only shop around.

One positive is that the chips were delicious!

Very disappointing we look forward to our trips to Moreton Island every year, and the staff and service at Castaways used to be exceptional. The new management have left us seriously disappointed with bad service and new trading hours that leave it lot to be desired, peak holiday time and they are not even looking after the resort guests and campers, where the only thing available is 2 minute noodles and bags of chip's. Not even sure why they even bother opening

We waited 45 minutes for food that didn’t arrive and when we tried to get a refund they got angry

We stayed on Moreton camping for 2 weeks and ate here 4 times. Fantastic burgers and every meal was incredible. Doesn't need to be good with no competition but seriously good food!

A little bit on the expensive side but that's the price you pay for a shop on an island, friendly staff and great customer service had me coming back mtiple times during my trip to Moreton

Has the basics if you run out. Meals are large and well priced as are the groceries considering the location.

Such lovely staff! Unfortunately didn’t get the name of the other two staff but Laicey and her work mates went above and beyond for us even offered to help us after their shift was finished with a stuffed car. They were a gleaming Example of how all customer service should be. ️

Stayed at tangalooma for a few nights. Castaways Cafe and store was well stocked, a little overpriced on something but that's to be expected. All in all a good little shop to stock up.

We go to Castaways whenever the opportunity comes about.the shop has a wide variety and the staff have been very helpful over our many trips there.
The food has always gone down a treat.

I can honestly say HANDS DOWN - that was the best freshest crispiest fish and chips I have ever eaten. Luke provided a heartful service and we loved his openness and welcoming attitude. Nicole was just as good - down to earth and very diligent with great table service and her lovely Aussie can-do attitude. The barrista from the UK was also fantastic, she took care with every detail of our morning drinks orders. I would highly recommend their meals and warn that you do have to book in advance.

Good food, great service and not even at island prices! We always make a few visits when we're on Moreton and we've never been disappointed.

Great place to grab an ice-cream, top up the beers or spirits and give the calamari burger a try. Staff are friendly too.

I strongly recommend the chicken burger over the beef ones. Add chili sauce -it's amazing!

We had a great experience dining here. We were on our way back from visiting the Champaign Pool and Honeymoon Bay. It was only late afternoon and Castaways arranged for the Chef to start a little early (Thank you). My wife and I tucked into a Blue Lagoon burger (coleslaw and calamari rings). The rest of the family and our freinds had a variety of burgers, all of which were really good. The kids meals were a good size, which was a pleasant surprise. Ps please book for dinner, as we were advised it gets quite busy.

First time I've been here and found it to be really nice and really good value. They have EFTPOS available, you can also get recovery gear if you're staying on the island and find yourself a bit stuck or just pull up in the boat or the ski and go and have a good feed.
