Castaways Cafe and Store reviews
55 This place is a great place to stop in to while you are on the island, if you need to top up supplies or if you forgot something
Also great takeaway food burgers and loaded fries
Hats off to the new owners Belinda and Craig for all their efforts at Castaways. The improvements are certainly noticed and appreciated.
The glamping rooms are perfectly comfortable and well maintained. The grounds and gardens are absolutely delightful, again a measure of all the efforts from new ownership.
The staff were so friendly and helpful always happy to stop for a chat and get to know you making you feel very welcome.
The shop, again a huge improvement to previous visits, well stocked with the basics plus delicious food.
Highly recommend this establishment, a hidden gem.
Stopped in at the Cafe - amazing service & coffee, thanku for doing my small double shot oat coffee - We did have a great chat
We've been going to Castaways for years, and its hands down our favourite places to stay on the island. We love that it is not a huge resort, the location, amenities and staff.
It's not the closest to the barge landing but that means it's further from the crowds and noise. It’s location also provides easy access to the northern parts of the island and the eastern beaches. The amenities here are always well maintained and clean, plus the kitchen has everything you need.
The beach is only a stone’s throw away from the actual accommodation/glamping and having the store/takeaway right there on the property is incredibly convenient, especially on longer stays. The amazing coffee and hot food they serve up is only second to freshly shucked oysters from Moreton Island Rock Oysters.
Every time we stay at Castaways, we enjoy it more than the last. The staff are some of the happiest, friendliest, most welcoming and helpful people you'll meet. Every time we stay at Castaways, we find something new to appreciate and we can’t wait to get back. We can't thank the staff/owner enough for making each stay better than the last. Keep up the great work!
Would highly recommend for those who don’t want to pack the whole kitchen sink when they camp but still want to feel like they have been camping.
Thank goodness Micat no longer own it! And good riddance to their sour attitude.
Now we were greeted with a warm welcome from Belinda and her staff all of which were very welcoming. The new owners (Belinda and Craig) are already hard at work making improvements and presenting a beautiful place to stay and relax.
We are camping this trip and had a bit of an emergency where Castaways went above and beyond to help us out which was much appreciated.
We frequented the premises often over a week utilising the shop and cafe and the reception was always the same happy, cheerful, and very professional. We had a chance to have a peek at the clamping tents and at the units with a view to book in the future. We can say first hand that all were immaculately clean, with great amenities to match. We look forward to booking the clamping having witnessed them.
Congratulations to the new owners who are really making a difference, keep up the good work its certainly shining through.
Love the new management. So friendly and kind. Great food! Dont waste your time at the resort. Do yourself a favour and drop in!
Very nice and friendly service. Had just what I needed.
The morning coffee run is something I look forward too.
Thanks everyone
We have seafood lunch here today.
Beautiful and fresh straight off the trawler doing delivery i guess.
Made it a regular stop on out visit to Moreton Island, friendly staff, great food and good for the supply's that you run low on
You can buy almost everything necessary here.
A bit expensive though, which you should expect.
I visited this store today. 23/10/2022
They have pretty much everything you need in the island
Terrible, went with a tour group over the new years break a few years back. Our tour operator was running late and we got there as they were closing and they wouldnt let us purchase anything. We all stood at the doors waving hundred dollar notes but the just stood inside staring at us. Ruined the new years celebrations for about 30 of us, obviously not interested in making money. Hopefully under new management now.
Great location and ideal for picking up most things that may have been left at home or overlooked. Good food and cold drinks.
I thought if you sold alcohol you had to provide toilets. But they were ' clogged ' the whole time we were there
Exceptional value when you consider your on a island and everything comes by boat
We always stop in for a burger
Need to employ more people. The staffs are fantastic but over burdened with work. Over 90 mins wait for lunch is not good enough.
Good food, a nice tucked away cafe.
You just need a boat or 4x4 to get here bit if you're on the island.
A great place.
Everything you need & staff who will bend over backwards to help you.burgers are always great!
Good little shop with tasty food. Pricing is what you'd expect considering their remoteness. They nearly always have that one thing you forgot to pack.
Good food to take away or eat at cafe but shop goods very limited and expensive.
It's the only store/cafe in Bulwar
