Travelodge Resort Darwin reviews
64 We spent 8 nights at the Travel lodge in Darwin and to say it was the worst hotel experience we have had would be an understatement.
The first night we arrived in the early hours of the morning, there were cockroaches in the room however we were both exhausted so decided to report this after some sleep. The next day the issue appeared to have resolved however the following night there were cockroaches on the walls and in our bathroom. I reported this to staff and was assured they would have the room sprayed so we vacated our room for several hours. On return our room was not cleaned so we left again returning again at 3pm to find the cleaners in our room making our room unavailable to us again. That night the cockroaches were back, crawling up through the bathroom drain hole and across the walls.l called the night manager who was equally appalled by the number of insects in our room, he apologised and offered a room change however the hotel was full. He provided us with some insect spray and assured us he would arrange a room change in the morning. We spoke with the day manager the next day who was aware of the issue and told us she would arrange a new room and arrange for our bags to be moved. We left the hotel as staying in our room was not an option.
We returned several hours later however our room was not available yet. After lunch we were told our room was ready however our bags etc were left in the old room so we moved these ourselves after several trips back and forth to reception to arrange access to both rooms (the access cards were incredibly unreliable and access to our old room had been stopped). Later that night we returned to the hotel to find the lock on our door was broken. The manager attended and later a maintenance man, an hour later we finally had access. In the middle of the night a noise resembling a jack hammer began and continued making sleep impossible. The night manager came to investigate, she could not indentify the cause and again offered us a new room in the morning (the hotel was fully booked again). After another sleepless night we were told a new room would be arranged, so we left again, returning after lunch only to be told our room wasn't ready.later the very apologetic manager informed us our new room was ready so we moved all our bags again.
The constant trips to reception throughout our stay were incredibly frustrating as only one of the two lifts were working and the hotel was always fully booked.
We were offered one nights compensation by the night manager who had to break into our room and were given a card a two chocolate bars by another manager on another occasion. The staff on the whole were very helpful but clearly under pressure to meet the needs of a consistently full hotel.
I attempted to make a more formal complaint to Travel lodge via an email however never received a response.
Reception, cold and uninviting, so were redeption staff, and seemed pooriy trained, were told need to vacat room by 11am next morning and they would.hold luggage untill next room was available, next day after packing our bags and arriving at reception we were advised that we would be staying in the same.room!
Later after walking around town we arrived back at hotel after 12pm only to find room still not serviced, very disapointing.
Well located, rooms are well laid out and serviced everyday. Nice and secure parking area, pool is nice gym is small but a nice option. Would stay again.
Lovely receptionists! Lovely staff, great room spacious shower & comfortable bed. Nice waterfall pool! Pool bar drinks prices for cans of beer $9 per drink. Only negative about our experience.
Great place that's very central to everything in Darwin City. Woolworths is directly across the road and shops, clubs and restaurants are all a street or two away. The room itself is spacious and has everything you need. There is also an onsite restaurant, inground pool and pool bar. The staff were all very friendly and down to earth. There are also different room configurations and townhouses to suit you and your families needs.
Nice and quiet rooms, I got a good night's sleep, but, I could have room service and satisfy my munchies
The shower was heaven. I liked location. Need an overnight bag for the trek to a smoking area. I think I paid around $360 a night, you would think you would get a bit of a room clean or a bed made. I got nothing. When I needed more soap I stopped a housekeeper in the hall as I passed and asked for some. She barely spoke english and shrugged and said she didn't have any. That was it, just bad luck for guests who need soap I guess. Breakfast was cold but she cooked something fresh when I pointed out eggs are usually served hot. Service disappointing.
It's one of the older hotels in Darwin. We got a "town house" accommodation which was unique and nice. However the back door didn't lock. They should have known this and not used it. As a result we had to move to another room. No help was offered and no apologies until prompted. And the sofabed should have been made for our child as there was only 1 double bed for a booking for 3 people. We had to ask for this but then we had to move to the new room, then it was forgotten. Our son slept in our bed which was too tight for 3 people.
Great location and rooms with reasonable pricing. Room service is a bit lacking, had to ask for room service almost every day.
Easy access in the city centre.
Great, friendly & helpful staff.
On Friday 31/12/21, the receptionist stated no rooms were available in-house. The Duty Manager / Nuwan walked in and greeted me by my name, and stated to the Receptionist to upgrade me in-house to an executive room. Excellent service, Thank you! I will be back
Very happy with the room, cleanliness and pool facilities. Breakfast was scaled back to 3 cereals and bread you toast yourself. Immediately after NYE the occupancy went down so did the service. No restaurant or room service food available, bar next to the pool did not open and the breakfast went from request something off the menu to help yourself in a small room. I'd go back if it was a busier time of year.
Rooms were newly renovated and were very nice it was a joy to stay there. However the “terrace” was foul. Anyone from reception could see straight into our room from the terrace so unfortunately we just stayed inside. Kitchen was mostly fully equipped and it was handy to have a washer and a dryer too aswell as two big T. V’s. Only downside is I payed a $100 deposit and haven’t received it back yet. After speaking with the hotel I was told they would not be holding the deposit as the room was looked after. I waited 15 days now and after speaking with the hotel and bank it was noted that I would have it back between the 3rd-4th of January. Got in contact with my bank as it’s up to them to process deposits back into an account however they said there is no money authorised to go into my account. Sent an email to the hotel again but haven’t been replied to. This is disappointing as I’ve basically payed $275 for a small townhouse for one night. Apart from this the stay was lovely and staff are super helpful and kind! Merry Christmas and happy new year
Ok I have traveled across this country, and I can honestly say Travelodge Darwin is one of the best place’s to stay in Northern Territory
The the pool bar is amazing, staff member called. Punkuj is amazing, and a. Total asset to the Travelodge team, always making sure you are felt at home when you arrived, as a fifo. Worker in shorts and tee shirt he go’s out of his way to give you a gold star service always, well done! The bar is great to and the food!
Omg this place is a hidden gem. We only stayed one night but couldn't fault the room absolutely loved the shower and the bed super comfy easy enough to get anywhere in the cbd
Large room clean and comfortable. Pool area looked inviting with plenty of shade.had breakfast here which was also good.
Location was great! But that's where it ended for us. The water from the tap was horrible and no drinking water supplied. We bought water daily to drink and for our coffee and tea. The beds and pillows were not comfortable and we did ask for different pillows but got told we couldn't be accommodated. Most of the staff were helpful. Due to lockdown, we had to stay in our rooms for 3 days but we had to ask for everything daily. There was no fore thought or planning in place for these situations, which should be, as covid lockdowns have been around for over a year now. We understand that Darwin hasn't had one for a while, but as hotel standards go, preparation for these situations should now be part of the norm. Guests should not have to ask for towels and toilet paper and milk and sugar daily. These should be replenished like they would normally, when not in lockdown. Remember, when guests are in their rooms all day they will need more water, more milk and sugar and tea and coffee and more toilet paper. Leave them at the door each morning during lockdown. Location of the hotel was perfect for us even in lockdown as we could still walk to the esplanade and gardens daily. Overall, it was a good trip but with minor adjustments and training we are sure the next trip will be a great one. ️
We arrived late in Darwin on a Sunday evening and end up at the travellerlodge. The price was outrageous 2 nights for $678, more than the Hilton, but we did not have choice as we needed to have a secure outdoor car park for our very high car. When I took my credit card out, the receptionist told me that he will add $48 for the credit card fees? Every hotel I go to have those fees included already. So I paid cash. The room was clean and modern but for this price you except a bathtub and some complimentary water bottle. None of that. And then there were a lot of noise from I suppose the air conditioning system both inside and outside. Even with the unit turned off in the room. I talked to a lady at the frontdesk who helped and we changed room.
When we checked out after 2 nights a man at the front desk told me that I had to pay an extra $120 as I did not paid enough for my stay? The prices in internet changed apparently since my arrival. Incredible. When I show him my dissatisfaction he simply made me understand that as he had my credit card print he will take it out anyway. Fortunately the same lady who helped me the day before at the reception and definitely was better at her work, knew that I just paid the price I was told on the first night. I left very unhappy. I will never use travel lodge again. And will check that they did not charge my credit card.
Only stayed 1 day because I arrived late, could not get out of there quick enough. Room was way over priced and had cockroaches but had Air conditioner and clean, managed to find hotel around the corner with same amenities and facilities for 1/2 the price
Loved our stay here. Loved to have dinner by the pool. Staff were all helpful. Great location. Free buses were nearby. This little fella joined us one night. Thank you Travelodge
As a listed 4 star resort we were disappointed with a few things.
No local information in the room, restaurant was only open for breakfast, uninformed staff.
The room itself was very nice.
