Sails in the Desert reviews
50Rooms are nice, staff is friendly but the complex itself looks a bit outdated. But the Interior looks very modern!
Nice hotel with outdoor pool, good dining options and wonderful reception staff. Great base to explore Uluru. Beds comfortable. Stayed in Superior Room which had two double beds.
House keeping was a bit hit and miss. Outdoor areas in particular are a bit dated.
Overall standard probably is 4 star when compared with established Australian and International city hotels.
The resort was lovely, well maintained and clean. The pool area was restful, apart from the slippery tiles around the pool. We had several difficulties with meals at the restaurant. Our concerns were addresses in a professionally by our wait staff, Jesus. He was dilligent and respectful. It was a great disappointment when on the 3rd night the same thing happened. Again it was handled professionally and we were compensated for our inconvenience. However the dining experience left us feeling as if we were not paid any attention until we had no choice but remind the staff it was an hour since we ordered our meal. The basics were not addressed.
My personal opinion is that this is the worst “5 star hotel” that I have ever stayed in.
The only plus is that the staff tried their best but since the place was managed so poorly there were just too many guests for the staff.
The rooms are really old and the view is not good.
The pool bar is a joke, the “restaurant” serves food that would be suitable for room dining but not for a restaurant.
The evening “interactive restaurant “ means basically that you have to order yourself and then wait until they bring it. Also in the evening you need to wait for drinks since the busy staff has just too much to do.
Overall it is a mass tourist 3* resort in really bad condition.
Beautiful location near Ayers Rock. Visited in January 2019. Overall nice facility with many onsite services. Advertised as a five star hotel, however, rooms and lounge / restaurant service were more in the three - four star range. Strongly recommend the Desert Awakening - Ayers Rock excursion from the hotel.
Lawrence and Ari in the gift/art shop are really knowledgeable staff members. They were helpful with packaging up purchases ready for your flights home. Breakfast was great, plenty of choices to choose from. One down side is having to pay extra for your morning cappuccino or flat white with breakfast. It's an expensive holiday anyway, you can't help but spend but little things like this are not necessary.
Wanted to eat here for breakfast, except nil vegan options unless paying for the buffet in which case limited to fruit.considering the price they could be more accomodating
A very nice place to stay. With fairly decent room service and a nice restaurant. If it wasnt for the flys this would be an almost perfect place to stay.
Rooms and cleaners were fantastic. Could have more availability for things like takeaway coffees and snacks. A great holiday I would recommend.
Location is everything here. It is really just a base camp that is only 5 minutes away from Uluru. Everything is clean and the rooms are spacious. The Arctic cold air conditioning is a life saver after a day in the red sand and blistering sun.
