This is a convenient hotel near Uluru, close to the airport and supermarkets.

There is also a pool ️ in the hotel and a cafe bar next to the pool.

There is one restaurant and both breakfast and dinner are buffet️

The room is comfortable and clean, and even when the outside temperature is 42 degrees Celsius, the air conditioner keeps you warm

The garden has grass and trees, and wild birds sing in the morning and evening.

A free bus runs around Yulara from Ayers Rock Airport, but the number of buses is fixed, so be sure to check the departure time from your hotel when using your departure flight.

It seems Sails gets extra rating points from people who only come here to dine. Unfortunately, their marketing over promises and under delivers.
Rooms are spacious, modern and tidy. But they’re also dirty. The bathroom floor was heavily stained with evident splashes of bleach on it.
The pool was nice (not awesome) but was let down by the fact that there were no attendants. Day beds were all dirty from previous guests or heavily covered in leaf and pollen litter. It’s also evident that people from the nearby other budget establishments come here to swim then leave. As such, it’s not the quiet and inviting setting that the website makes it out to be.
Lots (!) of kids! As a couple, a child-free area when you’re paying this price would be a great amenity. Not anti kids, but the non-stop screaming is a bit much when you’re not used to it.
Food was good (not great) and the back of house areas in view of guests were untidy, which brought the cleanliness score down.
So, management, either dilute the pomp on your website and be realistic with what you are, or step-up your game and put some extra amenities that will lift this property up to that level. Can I propose an adults only section around rooms 170+. A small, quiet pool with lounges that are attended to. A gym perhaps? And a bar with table service. Charge more for this area. Just please be how you promote yourself!

We loved our stay. Everything was perfect after long days of sightseeing.
The restaurant had an excellent menu and a great selection of wines.

Stayed for 3 nights, staff were super friendly and helpful. Reception staff so cheerful & welcoming. We requested to change from 2 queens to one king room, which was done immediately with a smile. Our room was spacious with a large balcony, the bed was comfortable and room was a great temperature. The buffet dinner was absolutely excellent - good quality food and the chef, cooking to order, took great pride and care in her work. The Pool area is getting upgraded end of Jan however it was clean with a
handy bar area. There is a free bus service between Ayres Rock airport and the resort.

Nice and comfortable but definitely not 5 stars. Glad we stayed here and I understand why it's priced the way it is. Staff were helpful.

Really comfortable hotel. Clean and good service. Not like your typical major city 5 star shiny over the top luxurious hotel, but still very nice given its challenging location.

If you stay here, you must try their dinner buffet. The oysters in the buffet are top quality fresh oysters from South Aus! We were most surprised to find such amazing oysters in the middle of a desert!

We were picked up by the resorts free shuttle coach service and after three drop offs at other accommodation places it was our turn. Only about 8klms from airport 10 mins. On arrival when you walk in the lobby you know it’s 5 star. The staff were so welcoming and even though two coach loads check in Was fairly quick we had a Terrace room which were on the second floor room 222. There was lift access but once on that level it was a bit of a walk to get to the room. There was also stairs going down to the pool, bar restaurant and garden area right next to our room which was quicker. We entered our room to find our luggage had already arrived. The room was very spacious modern and clean. The king bed which I have to say was the best sleep ever sooo comfortable. Dining table plenty of storage and a large bathroom double sinks. The great thing about this room was the terrace. So spacious with outdoor table and chairs a double day bed and sun lounges we used it a lot to relax with a drink after tours.
Note drinks are expensive here so if you have room in your luggage it’s worth bringing a few bottles as takeaway to stock the bar fridge can only be brought at the outback hotel once a day between 4-7 with limits of one bottle of wine or 1/2 doz stubbies $44 or premixes $55 per person
Sorry back to Sails…. The Terrace included a delicious buffet breakfast in the dining room every morning. There was a relaxing poolside bar and outside restaurant as well where you can pick up something to eat most of the day. A short walk or free shuttle takes you to the town centre or Hotel it runs every 20 mins right through till late all tours will pick up out front of Sails.
We enjoyed three fantastic nights here and met so many lovely people. We cannot recommend a stay here enough when visiting Uluru.

Friendly and helpful staff but not a five star resort; maybe 4.5. I sense that they are desperate for customers and I sympathise. There is no a-la-carte at dinner and only a buffet which are never top quality food anywhere (there’s a challenge). It left us the bar which is disappointing in a ‘5 star resort’ so we had to go to the Desert Gardens. Food at Desert Gardens one night was great (try the roo) but another night was less so (I wouldn’t recommend the mutton shank).

I pay $$$ to be an Accor Plus member but there is no mention of Accor in any of the online information and it wasn’t until I saw a small sign on the counter at check-in that knew. I immediately checked and rooms were unavailable on the Accor website but they were available on the Sails (Voyager) website! Raised the issues and was given Accor Plus benefits with a comment “we didn’t have your membership information” (no surprise!). But I shouldn’t have to raise and escalate a complaint to get my paid subscription entitlements.

Overall it was good. Staff were very friendly but dont set your expectations at a top resort and you wont be dissapointed

Not bad for the area. Expensive but to be expected for the desert. Close to all amenities, great pool area, friendly helpful staff.

We were able to get a deal from NT Tourism to stay here for a discounted rate for a couple of nights just to visit Uluru for the first time.

Room was really nice, though perhaps missing a couple of nice-to-haves like some bottled water after our long drive! Staff were a highlight, super chatty and knowledgeable with their own interesting backgrounds.

We had the Buffet dinner and breakfast and found both excellent. Drinks list was a little bit of a disappointment - an expanded wine, gin and beer selection would go a long way.

Would recommend Sails as a bit of a special luxury option when visiting Uluru!

So welcoming, either all staff at Sails, coach drivers, guides and local indigenous who shared a wealth of knowledge. Certainly a remarkable and spiritual journey everyone should experience and included on your bucket list.

Was very happy as we were upgraded from another hotel to the Sails in the Desert The staff were all very friendly, nice and knowledgeable. We ate in all the restaurants and were happy with all the meals. Cocktails were superb, we enjoyed one every night of our 4 night stay.
Recommend coming here. It was a real pleasure.

Sails in the Desert is a beautiful hotel. The rooms are large and clean, my favourite part was the double headed shower which works at the same time and doesn't loose pressure! The buffet breakfast was amazing, a huge range of fresh and cooked options available, including a chef on hand for special requests. The staff were very friendly, and could really help with anything!

I have stayed in many five star hotels around the world and Sails in the Desert is right up there with the best. But the service is what separates them from the others. Exquisite!

We bought a luxury escapes deal. Sensational value for money, lovely rooms. 5 star service from arrival and very friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was phenomenal. Only suggestion would be to heat the pool. It was to cold to enjoy even in October!

Im not inclined to leave bad reviews (generally just can’t be bothered). But when a “5 star hotel” shuts its restaurant leaving only a buffet dinner option…poor. Having said that the door staff were awesome!

Great location, have no issues with Room service or cleanliness, however there’s gap of passing clear information and a bit lack of professionalism.
1. My friend booked the dinner for 6.30pm at the reception
2. Another friend rang to the reception a bit later, asked clearly to check the buffet price- he was told 45$ per person
3. We went there at 6.30pm, the lady at the counter didn’t find our names there.
4. Later, she asked me if I understand what does buffet mean (!)
5. When the bill came- the charge was 77$ per person. When we told them that we have been told from the reception about 45$, the person said it’s for the breakfast.
6. We came back to the room, rang to the reception and explained everything- the lady at the reception said she will talk to her supervisor and will let us know.
7. We didn’t hear anything back from the reception in 2 days. During our checkout, we were told- the beverage manager said as we already had that food, there’s nothing to do- we need to pay the full.

Please be more professional- please give proper training to staffs and tell them not to judge everyone- please don’t ask them whether they understand what’s buffet mean

Best wishes for you guys. Hope to see some changes and more professionalism in these areas

Paid $154+ for buffet for two after asking if there were any vegetarian options. Found out that they only serve side dishes for said vegetarians after sitting down. Bland at best, massive hit to the wallet at worst for blah food.

Interesting experience.

Given the price point we have stayed at better locations 4 Seasons, Conrad, Waldorf and Crown Towers for the price point.

Rooms were ok more like a crown metropol with amenities for 1 person despite there being 3 of us

Lunch isn’t included
Breakfast/Dinner buffets are expensive with a small amount of choice in comparison to bigger brands

The staff are helpful, very helpful. Amazing actually.

Beds are ok, pillows over plump. Design of the business very Australian.
Not aesthetically pleasing.
